Good for you, but you obviously missed the point of the thread.

I'm one of the skeptics when it comes to one of these things, but I had respect for Jim, as a person and as a fellow Cumbrian. I know other members here did too, hence why I am letting them know he has sadly passed on.

This wasn't for people to scream fake fake fake at a photo which even professionals can't debunk, especially when you read into the story and find the Australian part of the puzzle.

It is certainly one of the most intriguing and mysterious of all UFO/unexplained pieces of evidence.

i too come from Cumbria so this story has always fascinated me especially the Australian twist, the same space guy was seen in Australia at the same time they were launching some missile, it never launched by the way!

I'd never heard this story, but it's interesting and condolences to those who'll miss the photographer.

I think the resulting visit from the 'men in black' add a lot of credibility to this story. If you consider the 'spaceman' an actual entity bleeding through time-space ala Burmuda triangle or Earth-grid vertices, it makes sense that the MIBs were curious about the local conditions at the time...

Anyway thanks OP

This does not even seem close to a well made hoax, space-man really? There is nothing incredible about it, should ignore

I've never heard the story before.

I must say it gives me an eerie feeling. I cant imagine how he must have felt, you take a picture get it developed and notice some interdimensional spaceman in reach of your daughter. I would be scared for her after the fact, and just freaked out myself.

Well he had a good innings , 91 is what I would call a ripe old age ... may he rest in peace .

For those of you who don't know what the Cumberland spaceman is,

A man in a Bee keepers suit

Bee keepers suit look different, I know it cause I've worked shortly for a company that makes all sorts of safety equipment from radiation suits to such. This is more like chemical suit or protecting against biological hazards/

Woogleuk, well said and thanks for posting this thread, I also agree this is a very intriguing photograph and I was sorry to hear about the death of Jim Templeton -there's a pretty fascinating interview below with British researcher Jenny Randles where he describes his experiences and he seems to come across as genuine straight talking chap (to me anyway) -there's also a few posts here which go into more detail about missing negatives, government investigators and an alleged investigation by the Ministry of Defense.

Cheers.

Thanks for that Karl 12 marra! I have never seen that video, doesn't the Cumbrian accent/dialect sound bizarre on video
I don't notice it when speaking myself, or listen to friends talking, but if I, or my friends, appear in video I can hear it! Sorry, I know that's a bit off topic, but it just makes me chuckle every time.

Thanks for your link to the other thread too, there is some interesting reading on there.

As you say though, he has always sounded very genuine, and his story has never faltered, and it's nice to know his name has a place in history.

no spaceman lol not a Bee keeper

It looks like its her grandmother or someone with grey hair/...the person is facing the opposite direction you see the back of their head with the grey hair and appears slouch over like allot of old people do when they walk

can also tell their shoulder/arm placement they are facing opposite direction

The first time I seen that photo many years ago, I couldn't help thinking it was a real shame the "spaceman" ruined such a beautiful photograph. I wonder what ever happened to the little girl, and if anything strange has ever
appeared in other pics taken of her over the forty nine years it has been since her father took this one.

The little girl is his daughter, and she is still alive and well, and as far as I am aware, still living in Carlisle.

No other strange photos that I know of though.

the so called space man, looks as small as an action figure. He also seems to be displaying anti gravity properties as he seems to be floating side ways away from her head lol, these two things seem very suspicious to me. Im calling fake

You can call fake all you like. As for your analysis, this is a famous picture and has been studied since the sixties, no one has ever been able to prove it as a fake. It was taken in a remote area, and the witnesses stated that no one was was present in the area except themselves. They are either liars or they are telling the truth.

Thanks woogleuk for the info on the little girl! Although I never knew him, I gather from the photo that he was a man to whom family always came first, throughout his ninety one years! I have no doubt he is now with other family members who preceeded him to the other side, where he is young again and enjoying a degree of health that could never be attained whilst living out his temporary stay on this side!

To all those who are questioning the authenticity of this photograph or trying to give their 0.2 regarding what made the picture what it is, please read up a little more about the story. I applaud you for thinking outside the box, but you all aren't the first one to ask these questions and from what I recall, they have each been exhaustively addressed.

As for the passing, sad to hear. Wish it would have been either debunked or affirmed before his passing. I didn't know the man, never met him. But from various interviews I can ascertain that he was a warm and friendly man. Rest in peace.

Sad but to be expected, he was fairly old after all
... a real good innings. Always liked that photo and still think its the genuine article.

Definitely up there as one of my top 5 or so UFO related images that got me interested in the subject as a kid 3 decades ago. If anything, its possible he now knows the truth of it all
... lucky him

is this the only photo/documentation of this thing?

any ancient scriptures or art on clay? or just this one photo.

it reminds me of that scene in back to the future where marty dresses up in a bio suit, says he is darth vader while playing van halen to scare his dad into growing a pair.

This is the only photo, but there is loads of documentation on the internet in regards to this, and the two same "spacemen" that were seen on the missile range in Australia on the same day, or around the same day. The missiles they were firing that day were made in a factory near the site of the little girl photo, on the other side of the world.

I always thought this was a very weird photo, for various reasons.

I think it is more plausible that it was a mountian biker in appropriate gear, temporarily pausing at the top of the hill, with his right arm on his right thigh.

Sidenote, there's a Carlisle in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania!
