I said "spread initaially." Later Christianity was spread in some naughty ways but INITIALLY it was spread through peace. I wasn't talking about 800 years after Christianty was started. For centuries Islam was spread through war and conquest and it still is being spread that way today in some countries in Africa. Take a look at Nigeria and Sudan. The Christians in those countries must choose Islam or death.

Those are very powerful pictures bigal66. I think people should see them to see the evil that is in the heart of these people. Do they really think they get a free ride to heaven if they do something like this
I hope there is a Hell if for no other reason then to see people that do such things punished for all time.

.
These people should be hunted down and tried [probably executed] for being child killers. Period.

Try to drop the racial/religious spin. Deal with the politics as needed.

"Commandos stormed a school Friday in southern Russia and battled separatist rebels holding 1,200 hostages."

This is very sad, but I can't help to think that the commandos made the wrong move, and should have waited it out. How can you storm a school with chilren????? There were 1,200 hostages, where were the negotiators?
Didn't they think of the outcome?
How does one do battle with children around?
Their show of brute force probably cost more lives.

They stormed the building after bombs stared to go off inside. If they didnt act then alot more people would be dead.

Should they just have waited it out when they were killing people inside. I think its wrong to blame the Russians for even one death. Blame the sick bastards that took a whole school hostage

There is no justification for the killing of innocent children, none!!!
I'm a parent and I would feel, yes! the hostage takers were dead wrong for their action. But try to save the children.

Russian parents feel the same:
Marat Avsarayev, a 44-year-old taxi driver in Vladikavkaz, questioned why Putin and other politicians didn't "even think about fulfilling the (militants') demands to save the lives of the children. Probably because it wasn't their children here."
"They told us that there were going to be talks," she was quoted as telling Iszvestia. Others also told of how militants appeared to be confused and surprised at the initial explosions.
Were the commandos use the surprise/attack?

I think is a very difficult situation any way you look at it. If you give into terrorist demands it will only show the terrorist that their tatics work and will only lead to more terrorist attacks. You cant give these monsters what they want or they will storm a school anytime they want something because they will know there demands will ne met.

This is not the time to second guess your actions and shift blame around I think they did every thing they could given that horrible situation. Those terrorist would have killed every one of those people if given the chance its a good thing 1200 people did not die and thanks thanks to the Russian Commandos

Islam as a religion was spread initially through a vast conquest started by Muhammad with the capture of Mecca in 618A.D. and continued on by the "succesors to the prophet". The conquest stretched from Spain to India and the the territory was "The Nation of Islam." Christianity as a religion was spread initially through many missionary trips around the Meditteranean. Later Christianity spread much faster when Constantine the Great convened the Council of Nicaea which made Christianity the Official religion of the Roman Empire. Islam has its start through war and greedy conquest. Christianity has its start through peace and humble testimony.

All the other major religions of the world -- Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Shintoism -- have long since been through their "dark ages." Every religion goes through its "dark ages" period (like the Crusades and Inquisition in Christian history, as an example), and those religions that can't get past it, die out. Islam is going through its "dark ages" right now -- but, unfortuantely for the rest of us, they also have 21st Century technology at their disposal. (Imagine how horrific the Crusades and Inquisition would have been with 21st Century technology!
) It's up to the Muslim world itself to stand up to the militants, to the terrorists, and eliminate them from their society. Turning a blind eye will only result in the Muslim world self-destructing over time (and possibly taking all the rest of us with them). Until that happens, all the rest of the world can do is hold them back, try to prevent the next terrorist attack...

Its really says something when all the worlds major religions had their "Dark ages" But almost all of them had them hundreds of years ago. Then you have some Muslims acting like its the middle ages.

It really makes you think

The crusades ended in 1291. Welcome to the 21st century radical Islam

The problem with the Muslim society is that they have never allowed anyone else to truly understand them. Yes, people don't have to agree with them, but for people to live in harmony, they have to at least understand each other.

This is why some say Islam is peace and pleasant, while others say it's violent.

Hang on, if the media..don't want you to see this, why is it published? And isn't AP supposed to be part of that supposed "liberal media" we keep hearing about?

This liberal media conspiracy idea is bunk.. (not least because the mainstream media, in the US at least, is owned predominantly by right-wingers!)

I am wondering. Why I am watching those pictures on Yahoo and on TV if the media doesn't want me to see it?

Your statement is somehow...ahm...it makes no sense. It is all over the media, even the most cruel photos. Even arab media expressed their disgust and shame.

Furthermore for a more dramatic approach you used the word "babies" instead of kids. We all watched the photos and footage in shock but we don't need your propaganda to form our own opinion.

Edit: Sorry muppet, I opened the thread 30min before and so, didnt see your post

Well it is a difficult decision to make as to how Russia deals with this but I for one if I was a Russian, wouldn't feel vindicated by seeing lots of dead Chechen children in revenge for dead Russian kids, that will make this even more of a tragedy and I agree Putins hardline responses in the past seem to have escalated the situation, then again these fanatics seem to have no morals, no ethics and no sense of rational comprimise, are all Chechens like that or is it the few that cause such misery, surely your average Chechen has the same basic morals and ethics as most people, don't forget as well that there is evidence of outside help being given to their cause ie, muslim fundamentalists, and we know how they like to ratchet things up a couple of notches.

This truly makes a lot of sense, for if other than Muslims go after them, there's the feeling/thought by all Muslims that the entire Christian world is against Muslims/Islam.
It becomes a us against them situation, which has united all Muslims.
Perhaps pressure applied to Muslim authoritative figures and their Clerics.

I am sure that their hell is being strapped into a chair and forced to watch Jerry Falwell televangelism 24 hours a day....
At least, the thought of this makes me feel better...

Now more than ever, the muslims who don't support such actions, worldwide, need to stand up and condemn this barbarism loudly, and very publicly....or I fear a deepening anti-muslim sentiment worldwide, and we will repeat genocide that we thought we had left behind....or the following joke will not be a joke, but will become truth...

Danny: "Daddy? How come I see blacks, whites and asians on Star Trek, but no muslims?"
Dad: "Because son, Star Trek takes place in the future"

I agree. But they aren't, and they haven't, even after decades of escalating terrorism against the rest of the world (not just the U.S., but the U.K., Israel, India, Russia, China, etc.) for unrelated reasons, the Muslim world in general remains very quiet -- instead of condemning terrorism for what it is, many Muslim groups (from grassroots organizations all the way up to the Arab League and Muslim Conference) turn a blind eye altogether, or pick and choose particular incidents to argue about. Will they every condemn terrorism?
