I am unaware on how to create a forum so I will post it here I believe I have found a way into area 51 but so far it is only a theory that needs to be proven anyone wanting information on this contact me on my account, I myself would go through with my theory but only issue being is that I don't have a way out.

a reply to: tothetenthpower Thank You for posting and all who responded positively.
I am one who will often skip through if im going to be bashed.Everyone is entitled to their opinions,it makes the world go around. But when one is seeking knowledge..regardless of someone else's intelligence level the phrase i taught my children "there is no such thing as a stupid question" feels right.
Much of the info i have come across and later learn 'someone' has already posted i scan through to see 'has my question been answered on the topic.
If it has not..i will post my question even if the article is years old.
To me this site offers all of us that option and i am grateful.
And we need to all remember for every finger you point out four more are looking back at you.
Happy Searching All.

And his close friend also said that "The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence".

That reply right there may be the single most profound on this site. You dont know what you dont know. Super! starred.

I've always said that while I don't think there is good enough evidence for me to believe that alien visitation is real, that is NOT the same thing as saying I believe it is impossible for alien visitation to be real.

I don't believe the evidence exists to tell me it is real, but at the same time, I don't KNOW either way.

I always found the immediate name calling and dramatic debunking as a sort of validation. To have an opposing viewpoit is one thing, but to have instant vicious insults that are obviously meant to distract from the main point -- that's an indication that you're onto something. a reply to: tothetenthpower

Thanks.

I also stopped authoring threads because of the constant- "oh, this has already been de-bunked, blah blah" comments.

So, instead of using the search feature to find threads that are related to your topic why don't you simply awake the old thread and add your comments? And since you would be activating the thread and putting it on the current list then anyone sharing your views or curious about the original topic and the comments that were added would benefit from a broader point of view.

I think you just want to start threads to see your name as the creator instead of just a contributor.

Many new members actually want to discuss a topic that might have already been authored, but you don't really get that far on a thread that was authored 2 years ago. Hell, sometimes even a couple of months ago.

How do you know that "Many new members...", etc.? Did you take a private survey?

It's always the same bull, people dropping you links of the many existing threads on the topic, even if they are as old as Moses.

You're complaining of the proper way to deal with repeat threads. IOW, been there, done that.

If I may also add, peoples views change on a daily basis and what we considered impossible 5 years ago, could be considdered believable now.

So what? The bottom line is that a topic has been started, continue it.

Revive that ol' thread!

Kudos for this renewed effort to curtail the snarkiness of posters in ATS, especially to new members and/or "less informed" authors. I've remained in the background for so long reading posts and the thing I noticed is that aside from the really aggressive debaters here who resort to name calling and derogatory remarks, we should also call out the "TROLLS" who just want to hijack posts and make everyone else feel bad and angry at each other. I've seen threads with great potential for good discussions destroyed or shutdown just because of one or two trolls wrecking havoc all over the place.

Anyways, good job everyone!
Keep it up!

I had to visit this thread for a spell to get a bit of perspective.

We live in a very complex and often convoluted world, so I don't expect in the least bit for everyone to agree with me on everything. That is unreal, and has never been my intention.

I was pretty excited to share my first UFO capture here in the beginning, but the quality of my experience on this forum quickly became sour because of the plethora of people posting who had NO intention of discussing anything.

It's been like some are competing with each other to see how nasty they can be. What is that all about? Why even visit a UFO forum if it makes you mad? Makes you uncomfortable.

And yes, I'm quite aware these forums are heavily monitored by various intel folks, and that there is an effort by some to "curb our enthusiasm". That's not always a straight forward path... I maintain they are here because they know less about all of this than they'd like. And others have direct orders to quell as much conversation as possible.

That being understood, I'm going to start ignoring the rude responses altogether. I post here to share and to commune with people having the same experiences.

Someone accusing me of looking for video views so that I can MAKE MONEY is clearly here to distract, not here to discuss or learn anything...and they stick out like a sore thumb as possibly being one of those paid to quell things here.

And in time, if the nastiness doesn't cease, I'll move on. It's not worth it.

No one here can control any of us, what we wish to study, or what we wish to believe...no matter what.

Sure, people can try to make you "feel bad" or shame you, but in the long run, a person is going to go his own path. The distractors are wasting their time.

Thanks for still allowing this space here, but my days are numbered here if I continue to encounter nothing but the "brawl" mentality. Much more can be accomplished elsewhere.

I welcome skeptics. I am a skeptic by far. Skeptic asks questions and investigate.

Too many people have confused "skepticism" with "debunking".

A skeptic will ask questions and look at all angles of an issue.

A debunker doesn't care about facts, details, or anything. Their motive is to "debunk" at all costs, even if they look completely stupid doing so. It's all about HALTING a conversation, not taking part in one.

Hope you guys can "keep it civil", and that more discussion can take place here. I've seen very little of it so far. Hope it gets better. Thanks

You Nailed it.

unfortunately, this thread serves only to pacify.. so one can point to it and claim "see we do care"

It'll never stop the uglyness, that's the admin and mods job, I think they look at the UFO forum with disdain and contempt.. "oh no'es not another *believer*" they know exactly (as most of us do by now) what the thread will look like by page 2.. so they don't bother trying to keep the thread on track.

They know we'll either fight back and devolve into the same thing that attacks us
Or we'll just give up the Thread.. and let the "smartass's" flood it with the same crap they do every single UFO thread.

In the end the result is always the same.
You come away feeling stupid for even clicking it, frustrated at the same old boys kicking a new ball around shouting
"drone" "fake" "utube cash grab"
Yes it's very telling when it's always the same ones.. copy/paste.. paycheck in the mail for your "service"

It's not just the UFO forum either... it's anything of importance that is "noticed".
and it's getting so bad i could name 10 names right now.. just of the top of my head.. that HABITUALLY derail certain topics as soon as anyone gets close to thinking things out.. I really shouldn't be able to do that, but it's so painfully obvious there's some deal with certain factions.. be it political or esoteric, that allows them to freely roam the board in search of their given topic.. then attack that topic (even though it's in IT'S category like grey area/ dreams & predictions.. WW3.. ect.. where it should be somewhat safe) in the exact same way every time.

Like a script they can't break away from... it's ALWAYS the same crap.. and most of the time in an attacking or derogatory manner.. yet they sometimes have Thousands.. or even millions of stars, and other pointless crap that indicates they are not just passing by..

Do yourself a favor (this is for everyone that's had a "problem")
Before your about to engage a obvious problem poster.. have a read of their previous posts from the past few months, years.. i'm sure in most cases you'll see the pattern.

Then you can judge if that poster is just having a disagreement, or makes a *hobby* out of disagreeing and is never, ever pulled up on it until they've successfully derailed your thread.

Hiya Xarian6,

I know this is a bit of a cop out, but this dialogue certainly goes both ways! For every 'believer' getting a pounding from debunkers there is a poor skeptic being told their not open minded enough and could never possibly understand the Martian Potato People from the shores of Venus! (Either that or some kind of taunt like 'surely you can do better than that debunker')

I take regular breaks from the UFO forum, but there are some really cool people there that taught me I was a newbie when I first joined. Personally I like the passioned back and forth that can occur in this forum and there is a thin line between allowing passionate discussion and making people feel worried about having the conversation in the first place. I'm friends with a few people I used to go back and forth with these days and although we still disagree its well worth it.

Just keep on keeping on and try to take the info not the tone from posts when you get it. Oh, and use the report button when it gets way out of hand I guess.

I agree it seems to appear to go both ways, but I've also noticed some of the more outlandish *believers* are so far off the wall, they are either obviously delusional, or purposely writing cray cray to discredit the whole entire "side" they seem to be fighting for.

I'm more worried however, about the trends in other/similar forums that seem to have spread out beyond just the UFO/Aliens Forum.. i'll explain.

2 Perfect examples are the Prediction/Dreams and the Paranormal Forum.
There are those that "stalk" like rabid dogs, they really shouldn't be anywhere near those topics as they constantly complain about the "tards" and the "woo" ... but there they are, stalking the very things they apparently hate. It's a big site.. with multiple Forums for many tastes... which leads me to ask some very strong questions.

1. why do they click a topic they don't care for or annoys them
2. why do they seem to stay focused on those topics, and always copy/paste the same thing, then attack the responders with calls of "insanity" and other psychological attacks that make the responder upset or on edge in a forum they thought would be welcoming to their OP.
3. why is this activity allowed, even after reports.. they just hang back a few hours then start again in another thread they don't agree with.

It's not just ATS either, I have watched countless folks get run out of town from this very behavior over the past few years on a few sites, it seems the crazier the world gets the harder the push, and yes it's become rather zenophobic and fascist.

In this environment, real life people (who've just seen something abnormal) just shut down.. im sick of seeing real folks get run off by bullies and the total crazy ones gather followings (flat earth anyone??) and start trends... and make us real thinkers look like Asylum advocates even before we open our mouth. It's getting obvious to anyone that's been around for a while *that still cares*. It's not trying to shut us up, we are shot down before we even start to share.. we are not allowed to cross reference data, many avenues are blocked by pre-existing *debunks* and if we start pushing it we get labeled.. normally after we've been trolled and forced to give a geo location to either our position of the place of an event which is against the T&C and I've personally had to remind a few of that fact in the past few months.. why me and not a mod.. why is it allowed when it's a T&C violation the mind certainly boggles...

Quite simply, It's not worth it to share if your a real person who hasn't had 4 years experience "fight clubbing" on ATS and other sites.. you get torn apart, and it seems to be allowed.

And we're sick of it.

if "aliens" or "spirtitual entities" want you to know they exist
you'll know
if they wanted everyone to know, they would

in the mean time
some are jealous, some have vested interests, some are just OCD, or similar, and can't deal with anything that upsets their carefully constructed little worlds...
crab in a bucket

but, as ats usually does, promoting focus on subject as opposed to focus on posters is always the high road
