London 2012: US 'To Send 1,000 Agents To Games' Over Security Planning Failures

www.huffingtonpost.co.uk

The United States is preparing to send 1,000 security agents, including 500 from the FBI, to protect its athletes and diplomats at the London Olympic Games amid concerns that the UK has not prepared for the event with adequate care, it has been reported.

Should the UK allow the US to send security agents to the UK in light of suspicions over 9/11 inside job..

Can the British people reject this request as a risk to national security? Or is it not a request but a demand to have US security agents present?

Do these security agents pose the greater risk to the UK than the supposed terrorists?

As a British citizen I do not want US security forces here,
I trust the American people's judgement on 9/11..

Scientific Poll: 84% Reject Official 9/11 Story
Only 16% now believe official fable according to New York Times/CBS News poll.. So are these agents a security risk to the UK?

Should these agents be allowed to carry weapons? and will they be brought to justice if they misbehave?

www.google.com...

We do not want trigger happy agents on our streets!

The problem is, there is no "official" suspicion. We're all called crazy for questioning the official story. Even if it was an inside job, your government knew about it too. So who cares. We're all en route to totalitarianism, so of course they'll share chess pieces.

At least in the US the american people are waking up, we don't do anything here! I worry the Olympics will become another target for mass manipulation.. No doubt under the guise of security we will have our rights eroded.. one thing for sure I am sure China didn't allow 1000 US agents in during the Olympics.. But again us in the UK will be trampled on..

Is that what it looks like from the outside? That people here are 'waking up'????

I obviously need a vacation so I can boost my spirits.

The british people can not reject any request as they do not have the power to do so, when was the last time any of us was asked to decide anything? we are not even allowed a voice on europe, who are we to have a say, sooner the british people wake up and see these rulers etc for what they are, quicker we may be able to get somewhere.

At risk of putting my complete ignorance on display, but does this sort of thing have any precedent? I have never paid any attention to how security is arranged for any Olympics but I just find it strange. I can imagine if the situation were reversed and it is widely publicized that say for example China found our security coverage lacking and sent over a bunch of their people who could very well be spies.

I just find it kind of unsettling that I keep hearing my country is constantly dispatching all these homeland security types all over the place supposedly to show the rest of the world how security is done. Especially when we have one of the most insecure borders in the world down south where crime is crisscrossing the border and devastating the lives of ordinary citizens in both countries. Yet the DHS seems oblivious to it all, in the name of political correctness or some other unfathomable reason.

Hate to rake over a terrible day in history, but if these agents are from the same agencies that failed to prevent 9/11 then I see little value in thier addition to the security arrangements already in place, even if those arrangements appear lacklustre.

It wont turn out well, the only ones that can be armed will be those with diplomatic immunity and would you want foreign people running around your country with guns and no consequences for their actions. Especially with the shoot first, think later mindset the yanks have which results in many innocent deaths.

All they will do is get in the way of the proper security and if they can withdraw their athletes if they are unhappy about the security.

You do of course realise that the US wont be happy unless there is a 'security personel' for each athlete and visitor, I like the way they dress up using surface to air missiles, since when did al-cia-da have an air force and dont give me crap about hijacking. After 9 11, whoever did it, does anyone really think that if someone gets up on a plane and says hijack, how long before he/she is eating carpet with pretty much the entire load of passengers on them.

Absolute b*ll*cks all of it, i've had to pay for it and will never use any of the facilities and now i'm being told i have to take my annual holiday at the same time, so as to not overload the transport network, what utter sh*te

The US can always pull its athletes out of the competition, it's not as tho they need to send them into such a hostile and dangerous environment as is the UK.

But I am sure Cameron will be the man I know he is and bend over for the US...

how about the US demand the Games are held in America since it is the safest place to be and they could ban the dangerous nations (like the UK) from attending, making the event so much safer.

If I was in the British government, I would not be happy at all about this, especially as these 1000 "agents" will likely be armed - they'd be pretty ineffective if they were not armed. Also, if they get twitchy and open fire on someone or rough someone up, who will they answer to? Sure as hell they won't have to answer to British law.

Imagine the uproar if we announced we were sending several hundred armed British special branch and MI5 operatives to protect British nationals taking part in an event in the US! It just wouldn't happen. Their security isn't any more effective than ours anyway. Next thing we know, they'll probably want the F15's at Lakenheath providing 24x7 CAP over the event with a full weapons load.

We should skip them.

And not attend these sorts of things till our budget is balanced at the least.

Or they can fund it from the defense dept.

Fix the economy... then worry over who runs faster.

It's quite surreal otherwise.

Peace

Well they did want one of their Marine Carriers with support group parked in the Thames to protect their athletes (and perhaps do some weapons practice in central London) . I am sure that will still get the go ahead since Cameron is such a spineless child.

I was reading about this & the fact that the government have oked surface to air missles use in case of a terrorist attack. This apparently has been the norm at the olympics since 2 people used a bomb at the 97' atlanta games

All I wanna do is watch a nice friendly game of womens vollyball in peace without worrying about "friendly fire" or "collateral damage"

UK hostile and dangerous environment... U.S citizen gun deaths are equivalent to those of the U.S soldier yearly Vietnam war deaths..

As a British national my first thoughts after seeing the headline was - Thank God the USA will be here. After previous terror attacks like Atlanta and Munich the more security the better. Britain has been attacked by real terrorists and they will have a go again for sure.

Oh and there were plenty of Yanks over here in the 1940's carrying arms. We'd all be speaking German or more likely Russian if they hadn't defended us back then. Thank God for the Americans. Bring in 100,000 and more
