Do you think that after the current SICK hostage situation in Beslan?

Imagine every parent who had a child caught in this cowardly act will be baying for blood right about now.

It will only ramp up hatred between Russia and Chechnya.

I, for one feel sorry for my Russian brothers.

Russia will probably never leave Chechnya. Chechen Terrorist are keeping the Russian soldiers there. Russia will only remove the troops when the Terrorist are gone.

I also feel sorry for the Russian people and wish them many victories against the Chechen scum. I hope they never relent and finally have victory and peace!

I too can sympathise with the Russians. I feel that this situation will only fuel the hatred between the two nations, if Russia did have any plans on leaving Chechnya in the near future I think they might change their minds.

isnt it the otherway around, isnt Russia occupying Chechnya ? What i read and heard that how it is, like israel and palestinia, how come nobody looks at how things are but always assume the big country must b right, owow.
I sympathise with Chechnya for sure..not saying tkaing kids is fine, but after al the amnesty international reports about the russians misthreating people in Chechnya, killing loads of children there i think they deserve it kind off. Besides russia doesnt give a shizz bout its own kids !!

The terrorists in Chechnya are criminals and need to be dealt with accordingly. I am absolutely against Israel's treatment of the Palestine incident btw.

Maybe if the biggest criminal, puttin, gets treated first, then the problem is solved. The terrorist in russia, well they in Chechnya , are criminals too..its action, reaction, get what you ask for...

yeah i suppose that's true. But Putin is just making sure that Russian citizens aren't harmed anymore and that Chechnya is back to being safely under the federations sphere of influence.

These things have proven hard and it will take time.

thanks,

No matter how bad you feel your situation is (Chechens) when they take over a school and murder children then they have lost all right to expect a peaceful solution or sympathy from the rest of the world.

It is time to crush these people, they blew that school up this morning with those kids inside. They killed kids on the first day and they held them for 3 days with suicide belts, land mines and guns.

I hope they all go to their god in pieces!

Chechnya has oil! at least that's what I've read in a local newspaper. The caspian oil reserve is so huge that it reaches Grosni...

Indeed oil, like always money is the only thing the bigs think about. And nativeokie, how come you are not interrested in the people in Chechnya whos kids are being killed by russian for years but now that russian kids are killed you jump ? Why not say, mmm its bad but they took it up in themselfs..that doesnt make it right but show at least that you think and jus dont jump on the bandwagon and blame the ones in the news now. Like i said b4, people take over other countries, or keep em under their regime although they dont want to and then that fine ??, amrica in afghanistan, iraq, israel and the paslastines and the list goes on..if the 'weaker' country strikes back, with the only means the feel they have left then its always them thats sooo wrong and russia, america, israel are always right..how come ?

The problem is what do we call these people.

Are they freedom fighters, desparate for a homeland, or 'terrorists', taking innocent children hostage.

It's not easy when the issue is so emotive...

They are people that use horrible ways to get their right, driven by years of mistreatment, and killing of their sons in their backyards..

Russia won't leave Chechnya. they pulled out for a while a few years ago but all that happened was the Chechens started "ethnically cleansing" their local Russian population. Then of course there is the oil.

As others have said, these guys are just criminals. The Chechen thing seems more like a gangster-turf war. Really hard to say what they can do. These things last for years too, as we learned in Northern Ireland.

Does anyone know how much support these people get from the average Chechen? I guess that would dictate the extent of the response from the Russians. If support for the rebels is significant, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Russians dusting off some of the old Soviet operating manuals.

I really dunno... It's a tough one.

Its looks like your average Chechen is more then willing to kill himself, and some russians on the go, for their case. I always think, if in this case even women, are being brought into the situation that they see as only way out blowing themself up there must b something mad wrong going on in the country they come from...

I wish you had kids in that school, maybe a little nervous breakdown would clear up your sick mind.

No doubt that Russians are guilty of abuse in Chechnya, and the govt should do way more to rid itself of corrupt officers and such. But to say Russian kids deserve this is sick.

Besides... The Chechen fighters are a mix of wahhabi extremists, on one hand, and plain gangsters on the other, and some in between. The cleansing of Chechnya from the Russian population began in the early 90-s and was 100% brutal. They had sovereignty within the RF, but those extremists elements had something else in mind.

No sympathy to this cause anymore... Enuff.

But to say Russian kids deserve this is sick, maybe u think this, not me nor did i say this. Well if my kids would b killed i would think the same as you do, its never good to judge about things if your involved yourself. Thats why things like this never stop, because people only think about the last think, ow this they did to me so iam going to do this to them..
I has nothing to do with having kids in that school, i think its mad wrong to take kids, like i said b4...but then also leave the kids in Chechnya alive. Russia has nothing to do there...like your own words : No doubt that Russians are guilty of abuse in Chechnya, and the govt should do way more to rid itself of corrupt officers and such...

Agreed. Not only that but the criminal gangs which make up the most powerful part of the social order in Chechnya started indiscriminately kidnapping their own citizens and holding them for ransom. In the 10 years that Russia pulled out of Chechnya the whole place just turned into "bandit country". The set up resembled Afghanistan in some ways - with rival warlords vying for power and using any means possible to obtain it.

The problem is that the Chechen fighters have a good intelligence network and are therefore very hard to infiltrate. It is known that many of the Russian law angencies and the military are corrupt and accept bribes for tipping of terrorists as to Russian plans. If Putin really wants to make a dent in their organisation, he has to stamp down hard on this corruption.

As for Russia handing over Chechnya? To who? They've already proven that they aren't fit to run a country.
Not only that but I'd rather have Putin and Russia running the country than a bunch of child-murderers.

Russia has plenty to do there. Russians have been kidnapped, murdered and ethnically cleansed for years, and you know what, the Chechen republic is Russian territory. Leaving it to wahhabi, drug trafficers and kidnappers is not an option.
