This makes me weep. My daughters niece through marriage is in a bad situation, not too far from this. We tried to intervene. She and her husband reported it to CPS. My husband reported it to other authorities. The child's mother denied it and took her to a mental hospital where she was put on anxiety meds. We have all been totally cut off from the child. No authorities will talk with us despite the fact that one told my husband that our fears of what were going on was true. WHY won't people listen?????? She is a darling little blue eyed blonde all of 11 and she is being systematically destroyed and we can't do a damn thing about it except cry. If we went and took her, we'd be charged with kidnapping, and that would make things bad for us and even worse for her, and believe me we have all talked about it. She is drowning and we can't save her and the authorities, CPS and police won't do anything. The parents are Wiccan and don't see anything wrong with what they are doing to her.

In cases like this where the authorities do not do their jobs, I am inclined to turn my head the other way as someone beats the crap out of the offenders. The worst that could happen is one would be charged with assault, but it would cause the judge to take a hard look at the injustice to the children who are victims.

But, for the sake of the law, don't tell anyone I said that because it is viewed as threatening someone. Nope, thought about it and have to say I would do it myself. My own brother-in-law thought it was funny to beat on my sister he was married to and hit my other sister. He punched my sister in the belly when she was pregnant, because she did not take the brownie pan out of the oven in time. One week later he was going to the ER because one of my other sisters and I took it into our own hands and gave him some pain. He didn't do it again because we made sure we did it in front of witnesses. The point is, he didn't do it again. Needless to say, he is no longer married to my sister.

People get by with it and do it again. Understand, I am not condoning any sort of illegal activity, but sometimes you have to make people understand that it can't go on, especially when it comes to children.

Did you read how many people Ashley spoke to - her boyfriend - her Mother - the CPS...

That is my concern - Children are speaking up and they are not being heard.
How many people did she have to tell?

Much Peace...

Is your niece back 'home' now or is she still in the hospital?
If she's at home? Wow. What can you do? *Shaking my head*.
I wish there was something you could do.

She's tweaky and spirited, nutty, a little more than silly, sweet... She's everything a young girl should have a chance to be... And now she's gone...

Local officials: Abuse case involving teen who killed herself remains open

A Houston-area teen who killed herself this week after sharing allegations of sexual abuse on Twitter had filed a report with Pflugerville police before moving away at the end of last school year.

"Yes, we did take a report," Assistant Chief Jim McLean said Thursday. He could not provide information on when the report was filed or who it involved other than the teen. "When it comes to sexual assault and children, our hands are tied about what we can and can't say."

???

But Travis County Assistant District Attorney Dayna Blazey said Thursday that the investigation remains active. About four months ago, she said, Pflugerville police forwarded to her office their investigation into a sexual abuse outcry made by Billasano. Blazey said that before Billasano's death, prosecutors had planned to present the case to a grand jury. Because Billasano had moved away from Travis County, Blazey said, prosecutors believed she was no longer in danger, allowing time for further investigation.

Blazey said police contacted Billasano's "protective caregiver" at least a couple of times with updates that the case remained open. Prosecutors will now review the case and decide whether to proceed to a grand jury, Blazey said.

So did Ashley know the case was still open? Who's the 'protective caregiver' - her mother?

At least it sounds like the authorities are still going to 'do something'... I also hear Ashley's Aunt is coming forward to report and *try to) convict the same abuser after suffering lifetime of abuse...

~ Remember Ashley ~

The problem in this country is that people have such a loose moral view about sex and love the whole "it's your thing, do what you want to do" and make any type of sex acceptable, that in their mindset, sex abuse does not happen or it is not as bad as what the victims think it is.

‘Sex abuse doesn’t happen or isn’t as bad as the victim thinks it is.’ How many times have I heard that. ‘She wanted it’ or ‘she asked for it’. ‘If she’s old enough to go to the store she’s old enough to get ‘bread/bred’ - and then the laughs. ‘A little love never hurt anyone’.

It makes me want to puke. And you’re right - the justification has no end. The victim pays double.

While the rest of the world laughs at Herbert the Pervert because he is supposedly funny, in the meantime there are real victims of pedophiles. The only reason Family Guy is so popular is because no one has issues with pedophiles. To some it's so funny, to some they believe it is not so bad and to some they don't even believe that there are those who are sexually abused.

I’d never seen this comic before. I’m beyond words. It’s hard to believe. Call me naive but is this real? I mean I know the Family Guy (crap that is it) is all too real - but this Herbert guy is really on the show? And people laugh and think it’s funny? Call me gob-smacked.

Sex itself has become so devalued that it means nothing to so many people other than a necessary biological function on the same level as going to the bathroom. When there is no morality when it comes to sex, people will act like animals and then say they are nothing more than animals so it is ok.

You’re right on so many levels. Why is it only a handful can even ‘see’ this truth any longer?

Wake up people, look at the values you have endorsed and promoted and embraced and save the victims of sex abuse. Get some morality and stop saying morality is relative. It's time we change this nation for the better. It's time we expose sex abuse for what it is and change laws about it so victims have rights. It's time we also changed our views about sex because there are literally millions of children right this very moment who are being victimized because some pervert has been given society's blessing "it's your thing, do what you want to do".

I can’t imagine the confusion a child must feel - being abused - and then watching the world laugh at it with the example you gave, the Herbert character.

The reason I am so outraged right now is because I have lived long enough on this planet to see people throw morality out the window in favor of having fun. Do the right thing America, take a good look at what moral relativism gets you.

Hey, but it’s no big deal right? It’s always someone else's kid, little sister or brother, etc. 'I’ll have fun until it hurts me or mine. Then I might get upset. Or I might just go back to watching Family Guy and pretend it never happened.'

Thanks for your post. So eloquently put, so succinct. I feel proud to know at least some American’s can still stand up for what’s right. It's been a pleasure to 'meet' you.

peace

I grew up in the 70's and had perverted men constantly acting goofy and nasty around me. I wasn't physically molested. My Mother would yell at me, starting when I was 11 or 12 about that. I must be doing something to make them act like that. She said I was a tease just by walking by or being in the same room, and that it was my fault they acted like child molesters. (Don't say that to your daughters. They will grow up and see right through you.) Trust me, if I would have been raped, it would have been my fault according to the adults around me. They would have urged me 'not to ruin someone's life by saying mean things'. It sunk in. I could have ruined the lives of 5 cops who stalked me, a doctor who hit on me and numerous other scum bags, but I did not stick up for myself. I was sure that I'd be demonized for ruining their lives and being a whore (because they wouldn't treat me like that if I hadn't asked for it.) Not much has changed in the average joe's consciousness since the 70's. Blame the victim.

It's funny that a child who is molested and abused their whole life is deemed a monster if they kill. Well, it's the same energy that commits suicide. The angst is either imploded within at self or exploded towards another. We have no such judgement for war vets, who are excused for all bad behavior and crime because they are vets.

Some of those vets are sex offenders, but it's not their fault because they're 'heroes'.
Not in my world.....but I see too much of that among the brainwashed zombies walking around today!

As a victim, being blamed, while the assaulter is glorified as a hero is enough to make you give up on humanity. We need a reality check as a society. This shouldn't be the norm, but it is.

Women are "rape accusers" now....and can be sued for defamation and slander.
Wonderful.

Texas State House of Representatives: Move to Prosecute the alleged abuser of Ashley Marie Billasano

Ashley Marie Billasano's story is one of tragedy. This vibrant teenage girl sadly took her own life after what she says to be years of sexual abuse from her father. Ashley Marie reached out for help, and was turned away by Pflugerville, TX Police, and Child Protective Services, who dropped the case due to lack of evidence.

The DA's office now has the case, and it is still open. Unfortunately, Ashley Marie saw no way out of her situation, and gave up. But WE WILL NOT give up fighting for Ashley until justice is served.

The signers of this petition are kindly asking that lawmakers move to pressure the DA to prosecute the case of Ashley Billasano's alleged abuse. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The link also contains a petition. I'm not urging anyone to sign it, just saying that's where the info came from.
It's up to your own conscience what you do with the info.

That is just awful that no one helped this girl.

I remember the days where... if someone even hinted that they wanted to hurt themselves... they'd be taken away and locked in a psychiatric ward. I mean hell, it happened to me once. Well, three times. But the other two I had to get over 57 stitches, so those hospitalizations were probably necessary.

Anyway, if people didn't want to help her get justice for the awful abuse she was put through, then they should have at least paid attention when she started mentioning hurting herself. At least then she would have been taken into a hospital where (hopefully) better professionals would realize that she, in fact, was abused... and then they would have approached the law. And maybe then, with more competent professionals on her side, justice would have been served.

Also, it's situations like this that make me angry at those who "cry wolf" when it comes to suicidal thoughts. There are so many people who believe, "Oh, if she posted it online... she just wants attention... she's not going to actually do anything." Because that seems to be a trend in that particular age group. They post threats of suicide or hurting themselves when in reality they have no intention to do so. And it's partly because of the sheer number of those people that this poor girl's cries for help were ignored.

The only good that can come out of this now is if her abuser gets the punishment he deserves and we, as people, start paying a little more attention to those "idle threats" that we hear others making. After all, you never know when someone is serious.

That happened to my ex-wife when she was a teen. She was just a normal amount of boy crazy after a break-up, and her mother had her locked away for a week.
I knew a lot of girls that got locked up for observation when I was a teen. It never seemed to happen to the boys though.

The funny part, my ex-wife was a mean, mean little girl, she would never have hurt herself, but she did manage to get banned from the psych ward after that first week, and they wouldn't allow her back anymore.

She was the type that could have driven a therapist insane. She grew out of it, and ended up getting her GED, then her B.A., then an advanced degree, travelling the country, and eventually becoming a President of a Bank in our old hometown. Now some of her old bosses work for her, and her old teachers and therapists now come to her for loans and checking accounts.

Just a little bit of moral support, friendship, and good role models can turn around the nuttiest of people. It is quite a shame that nobody was there for the girl in this OP.
