Message to All OWS Protesters

This movement is supposed to be a peaceful and democratic one, let us keep it that way. There are troublemakers, law breakers, and opposition inserted individuals that are tarnishing everything you and I are fighting for. Deal with the situation democratically!

See someone trashing private property in the name of the movement? See someone inciting violence? See people harassing individuals who are not partaking in the occupation and/or harming them? ROOT THESE INDIVIDUALS OUT... hold a vote to exile these individuals, bring forth any evidence that may help this vote along and strengthen the argument at hand.

This doesn't just go for trouble makers ... this goes for you too... clean up your occupation while you are there and do your part. If this is your land, keep it clean. Give the opposition NO REASON to tarnish the name of the movement and shine a spotlight on the few bad elements that are ruining a powerful and voiced first amendment right.

I don't have answers on how to solve this but this is what community is about. Converse, collaborate, and solve the issue at hand. We, as a collective, are a very powerful people and can overcome anything. Help your fellow people on the streets, take time to help the homeless, show that we aren't a group of snobby iphone toting hipsters and that we are, indeed, a voice that is fighting for good.

Share this if you believe in these words. If not, that is fine too. You are entitled to your opinion. I am just trying to voice my opinion and hopefully enlighten

Just keep supplying the free food, drugs, and the 14 year old girls, and everything will be OK with the FLEA Party.

Welcome to ATS. Unless you hate OWs and wish them all gassed to death, I suggest you just don't talk about it. It's a complete waste of time.

I'm personally against OWS, but, they do have a right to peacably air their views, that I will support. Excellant post.

If OWS continues, for the most part to be, a peaceful and democratic protest. I will stand beside you and support your right to protest.

Please don't be alarmed though when I speak out against them though. As that is my right as well.

The first responder to the old lady that was allegedly pushed down stairs was a OWS medic. I don't know if she was a actual medic or not, but she was first on the scene helping her. Kudos for people with foresight. She knew she would be needed at some point.

But I will admit to getting peeved when people painted the Tea Party as Racists and what not and totally ignore the affiliations that OWS has in the meantime.

It's hypocritical.

You message is most certainly well-intentioned, which probably springs from your conscience and would hate to see the movement be tarred by a few bad elements within.

There is no necessity for such fears, for OWS has NO single leader. Everyone of them there is a leader himself/herself, there on their own convictions, to make a courageous stand to be heard. They each did it on their own free will and self responsibilities as free humans and Americans. The power of Freedom comes with responsibilities to oneself and others.

Their only bonds are common grounds which every human on Earth shares, even those whom are sitting comfortably at home, criticizing freely the movement.

And being individual leaders, they each are responsible for their own actions. Advice will be given out and shared, but in the end, it will be their free will to adhere, or to disregard, and face the consequences of their own actions by the authorities.

And the authorities, the 1%, their minions and detractors have absolutely NO RIGHT to condemn the entire movement based upon detrimental actions of these few individuals, unless of course, those anti-OWS'sers have agendas of their own.

It's strange that people actually starred your post. You seem to disagree with a message promoting civility? Do you suggest people rather resort to silly retorts and anarchy? I'm confused.

Anyway, good post OP Great information for OWS, even better advice for life in general.

I would also add they should not only protest by merely showing up they also know why they are there
oh ya and "there" should be changed to the white house, house or reps, or office of your local representative

So your notes in this thead + know why they are there + change there to there = i'm all for it!

Unless it's about entitlements, free stuff or hating on the rich

To amend if I can thank you!

Keep on eye out for your fellow occupiers and protestors as to prevent crime and acts of violence as whatever is illegal outside the occupation is illegal inside of it as well. This includes thefts, rapes, assaults, narcotics and alcohol use. Do not hesitate to flag down a cop and report any violators as those individuals do not represent nor speak for this movement!

OP I agree with you, I do not support them, but if they are going to do it, their leaders need to takea stance on this and enforce it

There is no leader as we are a leaderless movement! It is up to the people attending to self cheque and self police themselves and anyone caught using any banned substances are to be detained and turned over to law enforcement at once.

During the hours of 8a - 9p at least 10,000 per hour nationally are enlightened with the truth.

The corrupt are trying yes but thus far have been unsuccessful at it and do trust we are on the lookout to not only identify but to expel these troublemakers as we stand against corruption wherever it exists!

I support OWS, but remain skeptical about some of their tactics and solutions. As someone who consider themselves left of centre, I am concerned that OWS is not really reaching out to enough people, there is something quite insular about it. I'm concerned that when they say they welcome all viewpoints, they mean your viewpoints are welcome, whether they are listened to or not is another matter.

The crime going on at some of the camps is also of a concern, keeping reports of sexual abuse within the camp and not reporting it to the authorities really does not sit well with me. Unfortunately these reports have tarnished the movement in my eyes.

The movement needs to clean itself up and start to put some ideas forward that the 99% really can all get behind. It needs to reach out to those who really are poor, the ones suffering the most from the system.
