This isn't news, nor is it exactly damning. It's public info. If I don't want my mom knowing what I did at Burning Man, I don't post it. I just wish the CIA would have the courtesy to add me as a friend. I can always use another hand on my Farmville farm.

I wonder when there will be an under ground bunker quest... OR... BOLville

"The government's been in bed with the entire telecommunications industry since the forties. They've infected everything. They get into your bank statements, computer files, email, listen to your phone calls... Every wire, every airwave. The more technology used, the easier it is for them to keep tabs on you."

"Fort Meade has 18 acres of mainframe computers underground. You're talking to your wife on the phone and you use the word "bomb", "president", "Allah", any of a hundred keywords, the computer recognizes it, automatically records it, red-flags it for analysis. That was 20 years ago."

I just wonder what the unemployment rate would be if the government wasn't hell bent on knowing everything about us. Things would be even uglier.

I thought we'd told you guys.

Facebook, Twitter, the CIA, FBI, NSA, Homeland Security and some guy named Bobby bought ATS a few years back. We actually only hold 2% of the company.

So we aren't associated with the, we are them

Kinda reminds me of Bigelow buying out MUFON

It's just wrong that you put a title like that, misrepresenting what was said in the article. They are using this to gauge reactions in places other can America, PER THE ARTICLE*.

"The OSC's focus is overseas, collecting against foreign intelligence issues," said CIA spokeswoman Jennifer Youngblood. "Looking at social media outlets overseas is just a small part of what this skilled organization does," she said. "There is no effort to collect on Americans."

This really makes more sense. They already know what Americans think and believe because they know what's on said on TV, which is essentially where most Americans get their news. I would consider it mostly a big waste of time to gauge the reactions of Americans. Maybe only certain sections, but of course those people were already visiting certain sites (*ahem*) and being checked anyway.

Just be clear with what was said in the article. The CIA is ONLY admitted to spying on other countries by datamining. They are still denying they're doing it here. Maybe outside intel agencies in other countries are responsible for keeping tabs on us. It's like a buddy system: you watch our people; we'll watch yours; together, we can deny we spy on our own people without violating privacy.

Scribd is personalized for your pleasure through facebook, and the banner advertisement here at ATS is personalized too.
But in closing, I just would like to tell my isp which "use" to provide cable TV service I didn't sign up on netflix or anything i just got bored with TV again.
See ATS is useful as a platform for change and expressing ideas.

oh, they probably asked the CIA why already. Oh i need tinfoil in farmville for the farady cage quest. I only have 4 days left.

They do not observing the Individual Citizen of Suburbia,
they are watching and analyzing the whole Society.

For an Individual Person they would use a different Technique!

For example: OWS in the beginning good, created by angry Citizens
- than get mobbed up by "the Organization" and because of the Infiltration
lost the credibility!

What we need to know is:
the Mainstream in and of a Protest Culture is like the holy Water for the Devil

(this is the biggest Weapon of us (the MS-Culture) but it is useless, futile)

People who want a change need to walk a different Road,
and this Road is a very lonely one!

Anyway:
Think Global
and act Local

Well I mean the true question is why wouldn't they?? You can really figure a person out by looking at their facebook and creeping on their posts. They see you posting a lot about sports, well then they know you're a sports fan. They see you posting anti-goverment post, then they know you're anti-goverment. You list all of your favorite movies, books, musicians, and your religious beliefs. You have your prior and current work history there, what city your from and currently living in, and all of your close friends who they could also investigate. They even know who you are dating. If I was the CIA the first place I would go would be Facebook..

Unless you just just obsessively "like" everything you despise (hence the awesome effectiveness of "co-stanza maneuvers") lol

WARNING IMPLEMENTED EXAMPLE FORTHCOMING:
Nobody knows what I'm doing except me,AND I can explain it to you but it will take along time to explain it AND by the time I'm done I know you won't understand it anyway so whats the point. You might as well listen because I really don't want explain it to you. (easiest way to get a raise at work lol)

This is why if people had more intelligence, they'd still be using the older, decentralised application protocols which were in use when the Internet first became mainstream.

People used to use GPG encryption with either email or Usenet. Because Usenet was decentralised, there was no possibility of being banned, like there is with centralised forums. If you didn't like a person's behaviour, you simply added them to your killfile, and that was that. You never saw them again.

The problem is that the only things that the majority care about are instant gratification and convenience. We could have much better net-based services than we do now, and they could be much more secure; but the current corporate run media and education system train and encourage people to be stupid and lazy, and it works. Nobody wants to apply their intelligence, and nobody wants to engage in actual hard work.

So don't complain when you get screwed by government or the corps. It's your own damn fault, because you're too busy letting your brain degenerate in front of X Factor or American Idiot, and you don't WANT to do anything else.

Its like they've run out of ideas for using our TAX money.

"Hey why don't we build a "Federal Building" but sit in revolving chairs and play on Facebook all day. If anyone gets suspicious we can just throw out words like: monitoring, terrorism and national security."

"they knew a revolution was coming in Egypt"
Yet they supported Mubarak way too long after the uprising began

"like monitoring a region after the SEAL killed Osama"
I just love how they find any opportunity to insert Osama-killed-by-seal motto, when we all know he was all but a false flag puppet
