Coca Cola and Vanilla Coke, sometimes Mt Dew for a change up.

Definitely was caffiene withdrawls. Had to have been. I'm trying to get into clear soda's like sprite, 7 up and the like as those supposedly are less bad for the body than the dark soda's.

Hehe thanks

Granted some of my posts are 'silly' as sometimes I see the 'other side of the fence/popular vote' but that's what's awesome about this site; all the different opinions and the sort. I do try to stay on the fence for most things but now and then I'll speak my mind about stuff. It's what keeps us unique I suppose

yes vitamin water is good

first of all it contains purified water and no bad chemicals.. just VITAMINS XD

um yeah i noticed that too...i drank like 3 cans in 2 days and then i stopped and for some reason i always feel sick

Well in theory yes. No bad chemicals.

But due to things like Fukushima, Coal power plants, agricultural-industrial run-off, etc virtually every single thing has a great potential to have at least a few pollutants within it.

That's just the truth sorry it sucks but it's unavoidable.

There are many things which are better and less contaminated due to many reasons however, the goals are to find what is less contaminated and what helps your body decontaminate itself.

But overall yes I agree in general with your assertions.

if you live in the country side you dont need to worry about pollution in the water

in the city? ohh yeah just dump that stuff down the drain...it is not worth it

Actually the country side is the most popular place to dump chemical waste.
They do it illegally today even, in the USA.

Example : Hydro-fracking waste material dumping.

This doesn't always contaminate ground water supplies, but there are cases where it has been pretty well proven it can do so.

Its a little hard to describe but it feels "softer" than tap or rainwater. The taste itself is little different to rainwater, but if that makes any sense that's what it is like.
For about 3 months I had headaches after going off tap water, and my bladder was severely overworked for a time, but overall I feel a great deal more balanced than when I was drinking 6+ cans of coke a day or even tap water.
I have orange and lemon trees in my backyard, along with the basics of veg. Lettuce, tomatoes, brocolli & cauli and corn. The patch is about 3 metres long by about two metres wide, and fits in a corner of the backyard. You can taste the flavour difference of organic vs shop bought, and all it generally takes is a little watering each day. We also have potatoes although they can be a little hard to find at times.
For fruit I tried watermelon but didnt have much luck, we have strawberries and mangoes.
Also one thing many people overlook is herbs, I have two small planter boxes off the back window with rosemary and sage. Always good to add to any cooking, and even if you have a small living area you could still have small planters growing in soil.
Just a few ideas, not to mention the money it saves not having to buy these things each week at the shops.

Actually Sprite and 7Up have trace elements of caffeine in them too. Not as much as coke or pepsi has, but it still has it there. I think (in Australia) they cover it up using a chemical number as it's smaller than a certain percent. Not 100% sure on that one but I know for sure the majority of soft drinks have trace elements of caffeine in them.

That is so true. Herbs do go a long way in cooking.

I haven't done much of a garden before. I have helped my parents in our family garden while growing up but I don't know if I could make a wee one in the backyard here as I rent my home. I could always ask. She may not mind one as long as it was small. I'd not mind having some cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and the sort. Maybe plant my own apple, pear and peach tree too.

I don't think soda is bad as long as you're drinking enough water & brushing teeth, normal dental hygiene etc..

Drank soda all the time when I was growing up and my teeth are perfect, but I also brushed my teeth twice daily

Coca Cola and Pepsi corps both recommend brushing after EVERY soda you drink.

So if you drink 10 sodas a day, you need to brush more than 10 times a day.

This is their legal actual stance on the subject. Call the 1-800 # on the cans and they will confirm this for you.

They do have a little yes, but (I should have been more clear: it's 2.30 am and im on 4 hours of sleep haha) I was more referring to the whole 'drop a rusty penny/nail into a glass of cocacola or any dark soda and it will clean it to brand new. drop one in sprite or clear soda and it won't do that effect at all' kind of thing.

Either way, I do know it's bad for you but moderation is fine. As long as there is a much much higher balance of other liquids vs the soda.

YES. My dentist told me the worst thing to drink is soda because it raises the sugar acids (Something like that) in your mouth and it takes like 30 minutes for them to return to normal after a single SIP of the stuff. Scary thought, that......

Oh and guys/gals, the best sugar source (one of them) is bee's honey.

Bee's honey has so many beneficial side effects its wonderful.

It is also a antibacterial agent and works as a natural antibiotic, it's one of the oldest wound dressings known to mankind.

Look up "bee honey health benefits" there are TONS of them.

That stuff is very very good for you. And one of the best forms of energy your body can get.

The beauty of a veggie garden is

1) It actually improves the soil around it as more grows, and

2) when you're done where you are you can easily just throw down some grass seeds after clearing the area and it will grow back just as quick.

Veggie patches also improve value of properties, believe it or not.

Just a few thoughts to put toward your landlord in your favour

A+, completely forgot about that one

Have a look around (I forget where I saw it) and I read somewhere that a glass of pure water with three tablespoons of honey has more energy and medicinal qualities than three cans of V or red bull

Yep, my wife says that she can tell for about 30minutes that her teeth feel 'softer' or more sensitive after just one drink of soda. And she says it goes away completely after around that time period.

Thanks for bringing it up, it's pretty much true. (I am not sure what the mechanism behind this effect is, but the effect is easily observable).

As a kid I didnt appreciate the fact that we'd get to drink Soda on birthdays and other special occations. My mother gave us water, tea and milk. When i came of age I've come to understand her desicions and I try to raise my daughter the same way ( not always succeeding :S )

I never liked water but it's something I've had to learn because I used to feel crappy due a serious lack of hydration. Lucky for me I've lived in Curacao for many years. Curacao has the most delicious tapwater ever -SERIOUSLY. Our water is made from seawater and because of that it has a great tast

But in Holland the water tastes bad compared to the Curacaoan water. Definitely have to adjust when I've been outlandisch.

Soda is as acid as can be. If you happen to brush your teeth within the 30 min waiting period after drinking ( or even scratch the surface with your nails ) will take away the enamel and it will never ever grow back.
I love Coca Cola a lot, I try to have some only in the weekends or for some occation. Tired Diet Coke or Zero for a while but it contains Aspartame... Aspartame, along with other artifical sweeteners, is quite bad for the health, right???

Yeah... Junk food and flu shots are.

Junk food has chemicals in it which have basis in science to make food taste better and preserve longer.

Flu shots are perfectly safe and are also based in science to allow your body to make antibodies to fight off infection. By not getting one you are only hurting yourself.

And you are really confused if you think flu shots are good for you, perfectly safe..my arse. You are beyond confused you are delusional. I'll continue hurting myself by not getting jabed and filling my immune system with mercury, chicken embryo, pig and bovine embryo et al

As a fifty-something life-long drinker of soda (4 a day on average), I call BS on this. Over my lifetime I've been told it can rot your internal organs, give you ulcers, destroy your teeth, keep you awake at night, make you jittery, turn you into a zombie, make you dehydrated, upset your stomach, ruin your complexion, etc. etc. etc. I mostly drink diet drinks, but I haven't had a cavity in probably 20 years, I sleep great at night, I've never had an ulcer, I'm not violent and my internal organs are quite happy. This is just another attempt to make us feel guilty for enjoying something harmless.

Well actually HFCS hasn't been a part of soda's ingredients history for long; it used to be made with cane sugar until subsidies made HFCS cheaper and more practical. You should see the chemicals used to process corn syrup in order to make HFCS (including corrosive acids). Is cane sugar that much better for you? I doubt it, but I would take something semi-natural over something completely artifical any day. Without a doubt the composition of soda has changed in the last 30 years or so. The rise in obesity and diabetes IMO directly correlate (partial cause of course) to the uptick in soda sizes (in the 50's and 60's average serving was 8 oz, less that half of the typical serving today). And it was more of a luxury once in a blue moon item, not meant to replace water which the body truly needs in order to remain functional.

Also another point that needs to be made regarding "I've done ______ for so and so years and I'm not dead yet, so it must be a lie" line of thinking is that everyone is different, mentally (the mental does in fact affect the body - look to the endocrine system and it's link to stress and worry) and physically (as in genetic and environmental factors). That's why you can have one person who smokes 3 packs a day live to the age of 75 and a person that doesn't smoke die at the age of 70. Some people can eat fatty foods and be perfectly fine; others eat a fraction of that and die of heart disease and other factors.

Thanks for the post. I can proudly say that its been around 3 months since i've drank any kind of soda, diet or regular. Im feeling much better and the pants are fitting much loose too

I usually give my kids juice anyway but on occasion they ask for soda. I never thought it could be linked to violence but just knowing it could possibly be is scary!

This is BS... I drank Pepsi all the time growing up, and never once wanted to be aggressive one bit.. I now drink up to 10 Mt. Dews a day. (I don't drink Coffee). Just make sure you brush your teeth a lot.. those drinks DO eat your teeth up if you don't maintain them.
