Well, I mean does it really matter if this happened in 2004 or yesterday? Clearly the girl was beaten in an extreme fashion. She uploaded the video to reveal to the world what a horrible person her father was. I mean the description under the video says:

"She has had ataxic cerebral palsy from birth that led her to a passion for technology, which was strictly forbidden by her father's backwards views. The judge's wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video."

I got the army belt with the brass buckle 26 times in one go when I was a kid and it didn't kill me. I must admit, my father was heavy handed and i have not needed to do any more that smack my kids hands when they were little and only when they were very naughty or did something dangerous. That girl is 16 and can be reasoned with rather than beaten. Those people, that man is horrible. His language, the way he drops the F word is appalling. The wife tries to discipline the girl to avoid the bully father getting off on more beatings.
It is more often the case that men who beat their children like this, were beaten by their fathers when they were kids. It is learned behaviour. They seem to think it is acceptable. I hope that social services see this as children have been removed from homes for far less.

You don't get to hit people. Period. Doesn't matter how old they are. I'm sorry you can't wrap your head around this, but it's a fact of life.

You may want to do some basic research before making spurious claims and proceeding with character assassination tactics.

You may want to think before revealing aspects of your life that make you look like a child abuser, in the same thread where you advocate and defend others' abuse of children.

If he did this to another adult would it be considered
assault with a weapon ? Dam right it would !
The girl is 16, old enough to live without parental
authority and old enough to demand respect in not to be
assaulted ! This was not self defense, he clearly
beat on her out of mental rage, the good for nothing coward.
Good for her that she caught him in the act and made it
public. Seems she expected so, giving reason that it
might be ongoing abuse.
This is the reason some women grow up thinking
that's it's ok for men to beat on them, or end up turning into
lesbians.
I hope she gets a better home, and loving people who
understand her needs.
If this ever happened to me as a kid, it would have been
the last time that I would be living under the same roof as
those that assaulted me. (parents or other)
I wish her the best, and hope her future husband is
empathetic and caring.

btw, threading to punch her, with a clenched fist,
really ?
Like who's the immature nut case ?
Hope him and his wife get jail time.
And regardless of her being 16, if she was 2yrs old etc.,
she should be removed from the home for her own
emotional well being. YOU DON"T THREATEN
TO PUNCH PEOPLE WITHOUT HAVING REPERCUSSIONS !

As if she can't be blamed. Each person is responsible for their own actions. She knew what she was doing. But then again, I actually think she may have been trying to help. Notice she came in and took the belt. Then he kept trying to get it back from her but she insisted that she would do. She quickly got the girl to turn over, and she gave her one quick smack. If it wasn't for her actions the girl would have received a much worse lashing, that's for sure.

For what little it's worth, I got put through worse as a kid. It eneded up with me running away when I was around that girl's age and not coming back. Probably nobody wants to hear it, but a belt in action looks and sounds worse than it actually is, much of the time. There are far worse things that parents do. I only hope that girl hasn't had cause to learn about any of them.

Even so, I'd never in a million years treat one of my kids like that. Nope. There are more effective ways of instilling discipline.

Kids have long memories. You treat them like that when they are growing up, they won't forget it.

Thanks. Some people don't understand what abuse can do to a person. It's hard to live with, the nightmares and anxiety I have now 20 years later. Am I a stronger person now? Yes. But I feel broken still after all these years. I keep fighting the good fight and help others who have been through abuse. Gotta keep your chin up right? Or as I use to say, turn the other cheek and wait for the next blow. I'm glad those days are over. =/

Oh ok I get it.

So it's wrong for dad to whip anyone.
But if mom does it, it's dad's fault??

And that part about cerebral palsy being used as an excuse to justify the kid to stay on the Net all night doesn't fly.

Why is everyone taking everything out of context and painting this in totally unrealistic ways?

This situation was no longer their business once this video was posted online.

How does posting this on the internet remove parents right? The right to privacy, and so on?

At 16 this girl knows right from wrong. Her parents said no - she did it anyway. She then pays the penalty.

The only long lasting impression a child gains from a good 'whoopin' ? The child matures into a responsible adult who learns there are consequences to actions.

Do I think the father went over the top? Yes, when he started swearing, threatened to hit her in the 'face' . He also made a grave error in escalating a punishment into a power play. You can see how enraged he becomes when she will not 'submit'. That I find abhorrent. But do I take that right from the parents? No.

peace

That is true, she was trying to help in her own way. However, it is hard for me to feel sorry for women in those situations though. I mean I understand that abusers usually know how to manipulate people fairly well. But I always see women, in situations with children experiencing both physical and sexual abuse, play the victim when all they had to do was take the children and run. They are not an innocent child, they are an adult. *sigh* But I guess its not as easy as it seems to escape an abusive situation.

A belt is nothing compared to what our grandparents got.

My grandmother said her parents would pull a "switch" off a particular type of tree, and then whip her till she bled with it.

Now I call that abusive, yikes!!

Heck, I got licks when I was in school on 3 or 4 occasions, one time I got 16 licks. The principal was a woman and I laughed at her and said she was really weak, and so she called one of the male teachers in and he really let me have it. I cried for like 2hours seriously.

They used a huge wooden paddle with holes in it. Man that thing hurt when someone strong used it with force.

Also in that incident I wasn't even guilty, it was another kid who was actually guilty but they didn't believe me.

All judges, mark my words all judges are above the law. They think they are untouchable and most of the are high-level freemasons. For this to be a surprise to people is expected. This is totally out of order and most judges need to take a good hard look at themselves. When you hear of innappropriate sentences or out of control rulings, follow the judge to the next Freemason meeting.... Uncover the truth... Law isn't to be abused just because of a secret handshake.

I am just going to assume from here on out that you are a troll and you do not really hold the viewpoints that you are arguing. But maybe you should look into ataxic cerebral palsy, maybe that will give you a little bit more sympathy for the poor child. If not, I hope you never breed.

Wait she's 23 now? The 16yr old in the video??

I missed this post.

Whoa, this whole thing is being played ultra-out-of-context.

Well, a bit, maybe. But it makes one think... seriously, mate, that prick and his wife, both waving their belts over a 16 y.o. child, looked to me like either they're seriously frustrated (sexually or such) or deeply involved in S/M activities in their bedroom.
I'm not a supporter of Freud's theories but this is the image they created in my mind. Grrr...!

Did you notice the girl didn't call her "dad" she said "Yes, sir." This implies she's used to the beatings.

Calling me a child abuser for disagreeing with your out-of-context opinions.

Nice. You are really on a character assassination trip tonight with me aren't you?

Can we please just stop? Haven't you fulfilled your quota yet?

I am not a child abuser, stop insinuating I am. This is untenable.

I don't think you are understanding the point here. I used to get smacked with a big wooden spoon. The difference was, I got one or two disciplinary smacks and that was it. There was a clear and precise point to the punishment. They didn't keep coming back and attacking me like some sort of out of control beast! And if they saw me curled up and crying for help like that, the last thing they would do is continue to smack away at me. Can you not see how sick this man is?

Your grandparents were ignorant. They did not realize that what they were doing was harmful and most likely prescribed to the "spare the rod" mess. We, however, are living in 2011. We know through child psychology, not assumption or an old adage, that not only is physical punishment not very effective, it is also harmful.

Not exactly.

I say yes sir to people I meet randomly in public, and it has nothing to do with anything.

You cannot assume such things without knowing the facts, technically speaking.

What if you are wrong?

How did this get recorded?, did their daughter record this?
It agitates me that I can't wrap my hands around that #s neck.

edit:
I don't agree with beatings as such coming from a dick head father but there's a difference between this man 'punishing her' and 'beating you into submission', he was unleashing his bottled up anger as you can quite clearly tell.

Not to mention it's over a #ing stupid reason. Does this c|_|nt not realize it's 2011.
Without the internet you're #ing useless.
