Here is my latest post from occupy wall street.

I have been trying to get to the essence of what The People need to do, to take control of their own government; instead of begging criminals for respect from the streets:

Here are my thoughts so far:

The People will need:

1) Publically verifiable, constant, Internet Voting (to guarantee a reliable vote, 24/7)
2) A new law compelling government, and all its associates, to follow the popular vote
3) Audits of all government spending and money printing (we must control the money, this is key)
4) Organized, nationwide, tax withholding to defund our enemies (we must force our control on them and not let their laws scare us into sheep)

We could get this by next year if we worked at it. I say we go for it, because our government has a million problems, and even with the people passing many new laws it will still take years to find all the problems and vote them out of our country. Let's start now.

If we could withhold our taxes from the IRS without going to jail for it, I think we'd have a decent chance of taking back control of the system. When taxes are mandatory, at whatever % rates they deem acceptable and we have no choice, then who is really in charge? They are, and our votes do not matter if they do not have a large check attached to them.

I agree with #1-3. I don't really understand #4. If you mean we go after their accumulated wealth , with something like a 9% wealth tax(for those with $10 million +), I would be good with that as well.

So, only people with internet can vote? Also, vote bots exist.

Great, mob rule...

3) Audits of all government spending and money printing (we must control the money, this is key)

However, we can not ALL control the money. It needs to be focused. Otherwise nothing gets done.

4) Organized, nationwide, tax withholding to defund our enemies (we must force our control on them and not let their laws scare us into sheep)

Which 'enemies'?

We could get this by next year if we worked at it.

Ha....

No, they would need:

1) Atomic weapons
2) Oil
3) Control over the printing of money
4) Oprah

This is also why popular vote doesn't rule the presidential elections. It's so that the smaller states get a fairer vote in the elections. Unfortunately, we have (as a nation) allowed our populace to become so ignorant that the average person has NO idea what this means.

The average person doesn't even know what the government is doing, or who is in charge of it, or when the next vote is, or what they would be voting on. It's no wonder we're going straight to h3LL in a handbasket.

I like that you have actually thought of a plan to overturn the 1% ... and it seems to be based on realistic ways to accomplish what needs to be done..

Kudos for that

The people who want change need to align themselves with the people who are willing to implement change , and fight for it, by running for office, and slowly revising the system.

The only problem is the 1% does not want to see that happen, and for now they have the control, the power and the finances to manipulate.

I would hate to see what they would stoop to if they ever thought this plan could actually be implemented.

The 99% isn't truely the 99% though. It's a much smaller percentage.

99%, minus those who disagree with OWS. Minus those two cowardly(or sane) to act out. Minus those who just don't want trouble. Minus the "1%" and all those that side with it. Minus those who are just indifferent.

I'm not saying that I'm against OWS, or that I don't feel they represent us. I'm saying that there's no way we'd currently manage to get any more than a small minority to work together for that. We can't unite to create our own governing system under current circumstances, it'd fall flat immediately.

We need to refine the current system of unity we have(Gov't and politics). It already holds us together as a nation. Any refinements that need to be made, will take time, but would actually work if pulled off.

My 4th step suggests we withhold taxes until we get what we want. After that we probably should tax everyone who is profiting off our country. And we should order the Military to retrieve our stolen money from the Illuminati. That would give every American about 5 million and get the economy back on track for future generations.

Thank you for your contribution to the thinking here.

My tax motto is: those who profit from the country pay accodingly, those who contribute in other ways, do not, those who leech off the country, get lost.

I guess when I say 99, I actually mean 99, not just the protesters. I'm thinking about us! We need to control our country from our desktops and stop watching and complaining.

Lets get the American revolution done after 200 years. Let's provide a responsible, caring model for the whole world to follow. Before the idiots in power wreck everything.

So was I. Those who care, are willing to act, and could agree on how to act is not a 99%. After you got that together, you'd have a horribly small minority. That's the flaw in this proposed plan.

1-4, great job and thinking on all points. I'd thought about the voting part myself and if identity could be established with absolute certainty in a way that wouldn't have some going completely nuts over control conspiracies, it would bring true citizen control and accountability to the process. It's even fair to suggest that if done properly, it could even bypass the need for Congress as anything more than a top check/balance in the future.....instead of the body controlling everything as they are now.

I love the money control point as well. I agree. Nothing meaningful happens or changes while the United States and it's people do not control the flow and production of our own money. The Fed has to go...but another system has to be devised.

On your last point. Excellent there too. Simply not paying taxes, EN MASSE, would effectively bring the Government to their knees and within months, not years. It would have to be done on a majority % though, or it just sets up individuals to be made examples of in the worst ways. We've certainly watched enough of that happening over tax protesting in recent years.

Not bad at all..... your 4 points certainly aren't all there is to a successful change, but it's as good a start as I've seen anyone put together and suggest. S/F!

Indeed, but if the people really had a say, and a stake, they would step up to the plate, the government must enable all citizens to vote with free phones and better libraries, etc. It can be worked out, eventually.

Yes! Not paying taxes is a great idea. When you figure out how to fix the roads, pay police, keep our elderly alive, and a whole host of things without taxes let me be the first one to know!

Elected officials are not obligated to follow the popular vote... they are obligated to follow the Constitution. What you suggest is mob rule, which is true democracy. So what if the popular vote decides that raping women is legal? Then I guess it would be the law. An extreme and unrealistic example... yes... but if you think that things are bad now just wait until the elected officials are forced to abide by the popular vote. You think it is a good idea, until the popular vote decides on something that effects your life in a negative manner... so what then?

What you don't understand, nor do most of the OWS crowd is that much of the 1% are American in name only. Its where they have citizenship. They don't have money, they have wealth, a far different animal and it is global in nature and will flow to jurisdictions that will not confiscate it.

Wealthy people are leaving the US at a greater rate now than at any time in history. Entrapenuers are not starting their companies in the US, but opting to list on the London or Hong Kong exchange to avoid the absurd US regulations and confiscatory corporate tax environment.

That is the folly of the OWS movement - it is as if folks who are sitting around with $100M portfolios are going to sit back and get raped by the rabble. They're not. The OWS folks act as if they will somehow get into the wealth of the super wealthy. They're not. Raise income taxes? These folks don't need to earn normal income - they don't need to work. Raise taxes on investment income? Good luck when those assets are held outside of the country.

There are many countries where you can buy citizenship easily. Have a portfilio at a global investment bank such as JP Morgan that has offices in the US as well as Hong Kong? No problem. Move to Hong Kong, buy citizenship for $6.5M HK dollars and transfer the assets to an account domiciled in Hong Kong. Keep living in your NYC penthouse. You don't even need to renounce your US citizenship.

The OWS crowd can do what it wants. All it will ultimately accomplish is move wealth out of the US, both personal and corporate wealth. When the folks who are paying for everything are not here to pay, who is going to fund the welfare state? Are folks actually thinking that the low-lifes in the parks are going to start companies, employ people and generate enough wealth to fund a functioning society?

Get real. The entire "movement" is nothing but a parody.

The people follow the constitution far better than the corporations who right the laws the politicians rubber stamp. Who said anything about throwing out the constitution? I am trying to get back to the constitution and Declaration.

I think you are right, but consider this, The model we set up in American can be grown around the world until there is no place left to hide for tyranny and exploitation. Furthermore, the People left in America can generate new wealth just like we did 200 years ago. We don't need them or want them; they are legal criminals.

If roads need to be fixed, People can contract directly with road workers to get something done. They don't have to pay taxes to get it done. Almost all taxes, at least federal, go to paying down the debt anyway, which is like the government giving our money to the Fed families who are masquerading as banks and government.

We just need to move ahead with what is right here and fix the smaller issues as we go. We can do it. We are America.

Do you realize what would happen if every American had $5million?

It's called hyper-inflation.

It usually ends with a dictatorship. A quick shortcut to a SHTF situation.
