Many more people should be outraged. Since when is police brutality and curbing free speech ok in the US?

Since people chose to keyboard vs getting out there in numbers, unite, protest and take back our country from the elite 1%.

Sitting around and keyboarding isn't going to accomplish anything.

Getting out there and physically demanding, a end to this tyranny is the only thing that will stop this.

Protesting also includes EVERYONE NOT GOING TO WORK, and withdrawing their money from the big banks. The only two things that matter to the 1% are power and profit. Take away their power over us and their profit and you will see them get really upset.

And yes, on a personal level I have now attended two weekends of OWS as well as withdraw our monies from a large bank into a smaller neighborhood bank.

What the news is not telling you is the police are now getting nastier.

We have allowed our government to be bought out by the large corporations and are now a corporate dictatorship.

Republican/Democrat = different sides TO THE EXACT SAME COIN. Both parties dance to the exact same puppet master.............the 50m question is who is at the very top of the pyramid. And no, it's not your local bank manager, even the CEO's.

Dig deeper, research who owns what.

It's time for the 99% to unite and march while we still can.............there are more of us than there are of "them".

If the entire workforce, the people who really do the work ALL went on strike for just one week things might change BUT it would also entail making sure no one crossed the strike zone.

The time for revolution is at hand, our forefathers had guts .

Keep hiding behind your keyboards, talk is cheap.

This occurred because the majority of people all over the world were distracted, manipulated and didn't watch the foxes in the hen house.

United we stand, divided we fall.

World's Largest Land Owners

“Queen Elizabeth II the largest landowner on Earth.”

Queen Elizabeth II, head of state of the United Kingdom and of 31 other states and territories, is the legal owner of about 6,600 million acres of land, one sixth of the earth’s non ocean surface.

She is the only person on earth who owns whole countries, and who owns countries that are not her own domestic territory. This land ownership is separate from her role as head of state and is different from other monarchies where no such claim is made – Norway, Belgium, Denmark etc.

The value of her land holding. £17,600,000,000,000 (approx).

This makes her the richest individual on earth. However, there is no way easily to value her real estate. There is no current market in the land of entire countries. At a rough estimate of $5,000 an acre, and based on the sale of Alaska to the USA by the Tsar, and of Louisiana to the USA by France, the Queen’s land holding is worth a notional $33,000,000,000,000 (Thirty three trillion dollars or about £17,600,000,000,000). Her holding is based on the laws of the countries she owns and her land title is valid in all the countries she owns. Her main holdings are Canada, the 2nd largest country on earth, with 2,467 million acres, Australia, the 7th largest country on earth with 1,900 million acres, the Papua New Guinea with114 million acres, New Zealand with 66 million acres and the UK with 60 million acres.

She is the world’s largest landowner by a significant margin. The next largest landowner is the Russian state, with an overall ownership of 4,219 million acres, and a direct ownership comparable with the Queen’s land holding of 2,447 million acres. The 3rd largest landowner is the Chinese state, which claims all of Chinese land, about 2,365 million acres. The 4th largest landowner on earth is the Federal Government of the United States, which owns about one third of the land of the USA, 760 million acres. The fifth largest landowner on earth is the King of Saudi Arabia with 553 million acres
Largest five personal landowners on Earh Queen Elizabeth II 6,600 million acres
King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia 553 million acres
King Bhumibol of Thailand 126 million acres
King Mohammed IV of Morocco 113 million acres
Sultan Quaboos of Oman 76 million acres

All the politics of tyranny. i can't believe we keep letting them do this crap to us over and over. Whatever you want to call it. A peaceful protest in Oakland looks the same as a peaceful protest in Tienamen Square.

As an inactive Marine I add to the outrage. Again the police have shown their skin, go in with guns blazing then sort out what happened. If there is collateral damage well that's okay it's all part of the charade. I just like many many others are sick and tired of the powers that be being heavy handed with the very people they are sworn to 'protect and serve'. Sickening, disgusting, and a view of some of the worst human behavior on the earth.

To Oaklands finest!

The only thing I want the federal government to provide is a top notch, well equipped military to protect us and our interests throughout the world, some basic research in technologies much like the NASA of the 60's/70's that brought us so many great things and a few rules and regulation to keep states from fighting over stupid stuff or creating regulations that harm business and services of other states.

Are you nuts? That's part of what got us to this point. They want us to demand more protection. That's their plan. Hasn't enough money been spent in the name of defense? Our education and infrastructures are crumbling around us and all you can say is give us more protection?

From the beginning of time wars have been fought when people are hurt or put in danger... This is coming to a head. The people can only take so much abuse before a dramatic change has to me made. My problem is have they already planned for this and are they getting ready to release the next stage of their plan? will we be able to see through it? Up till now everything has been a well constructed plan and we have been made to believe it has all been in our best interest, but it is really?

Well, technically she does...so not sure what you're on about. Could she enforce that in reality? Maybe not, but lawfully it's hers.

Look, what really amazes me is that the politicians actually manage to get people rallied up against a $500b medicare bill, or teacher salaries of a few billion...when in reality, the largest WELFARE CHECKS go to the top investment banks and companies like BP. Count how many tax breaks they're getting, how the government (which is ultimetley the tax payer) keeps on bailing them out every time their risky investments go wrong. That amount is FAAAAAAAAAAR above medicare or social security. Right now, saving account holders and tax payers are liable for $75 trillion (!!!!) of risky European derivates investments from BoA alone. That's not even counting the other investment banks!!

And you are worried about veterans getting a few million in aid??? Really?

That's like complaining about the having to pay a $1.5 for parking after spending $10k at the mall

Right now, Wall Street is the biggest recipient of welfare...yet a lot of people focus on peanuts like medicare. It's really quite amazing how the media and politicians are able to distract the population just enough so they don't realize what's really going on....

No, honestly, she really doesn't. This is always misinterpreted by those not from blighty. In days of our Empire, land was 'acquired' on behalf of the crown. That is the context it was framed and it was land ruled over by the crown. it did not mean in reality that it was land owned by the crown.

Besides which, and far more importantly, all of the Commonwealth states are independent these days meaning that the land belongs to the individual nations whose land it is. Although, admittedly, large chunks of it have probably been bought or appropriated by the super rich and mega corporations for various purposes.

Again though, just to be clear, the Crown never actually owned any of this land. She isn't even the largest landowner in the UK, that would be the Forestry Commission with 2,571,270 acres

I read from updates that he is awake, and is Lucid.

Scott Olsen, the Iraq war veteran who suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a projectile fired by police during the Occupy Oakland protests, has woken up and is lucid as he awaits surgery, hospital officials and family members have said.

Olsen "responded with a very large smile" to a visit from his parents,

I do certainly hope, that people from Oakland do not let this go and demand the Mayor resign or Can she be forced to resign?

There should not be an internal investigation, carried out by the Police themselves, but an independent investigation, so this will not be a cover up or biased. It will infuriate citizens in the US even more if there is not one.

I had also read that article and think it is wonderful that he can at least respond and smile, trouble talking still though.

I do have a major problem with interim police chief, Howard Jordan's excuse that OPD doesn't have rubber bullets and flash-bangs in their inventory so it must have been from on of the other forces assisting. It doesn't matter who had or used them, he was the Officer in Charge and should have ensured himself that he was aware of all items available to all officers in the field.

He is responsible and accountable.

One big point of contention: Wages are flat over the past 30 years. There is nothing "fair" about flat wages in a world where required commodities such as food, medicine, energy and shelter are up 200-480% over the same time-period.

I dont see how they will ever be able to declare martial law now.
The government may decide to do it, but the military wont be on the cops side anymore.

I believe this incident is gonna cause major ripples in the military.

Thank you. I am glad that the evidence of my own senses and experiences are backed up so well by the numbers. This is class warfare, and the 1% have been doing it to the rest of us for more then 30 years. I have no doubt whose side I am on by default.

My heart, soul and love go out to the men and women of the United States military who have sliced through the lies and have a greater understanding of what is really true than the average American citizen. No wonder Ron Paul leads all other candidates combined when it comes to funding received from military members.

Thank you folks for standing up and doing what's right. A turning point was reached in Oakland; even 'they' know it. There will be a Peaceful and long lasting solution to this entire mess once 'they' remember they work for us and not the other way around. If they don't, Occupy will help them remember. Treason against America is a crime that shouldn't be taken lightly.

Healing thought and prayers are being sent Scott Olsen's way from around the world.

Talk about seeing things in black and white.... lol. You are the pot calling the kettle black. Here is a synopsis of your comment:

either the government helps people with our tax money (black) or people die because the government doesn't (white)

Now lets look at the shade of grey that is reality huh? Government does not help these people, government in just the current tool used by society in which these people can receive help. A poor tool that often makes poor decisions, just look at the 9/11 first responders if you want some evidence of that.

The truth of the matter is, the people who as you put it, want to "gut" the government are the same people that would give generously and donate their time and money to charities that would be much more effective than the government in curing the situations you seem to think only the government can handle.

The government is very inefficient, unreliable, and wasteful way in which to care for those in the world who cannot care for themselves but in your "black and white" world, you either want the government to "help" people or you are just uncaring.

You should learn that the government is simply one way in which this aide you care about can be given. A wasteful way that isn't very effective. It would be to your benefit, I believe, to research how poor of a job the government does with that responsibility and perhaps ask yourself if there could possibly be a way that the government is causing more problems than they solve and if maybe, just maybe if the government got out of the way, and was no longer the middleman between funds and aide if it could be possible that more people would be helped more effectively.

The government is simply the middleman here, the people supply the funds. Why do you see it as necessary for the government to step in?

I am quite tired of people saying those who want to end government programs have no compassion. Quite the opposite, I am tired of seeing the money wasted and the people not reciving the aide they need, that is why we want government out of it. Anyhow, you probably could care less about my position, I just thought it was ironic how you complain about others seeing the world as black and white while you yourself express a "black or white" opinion. Good day.

The CBO numbers outlined in the report (video) above describe the trajectory of the first 30 years of the "class war." How did the rich and super-rich do it? They manipulated the tax code. How did they manipulate the tax code so effortlessly? They helped write it, thanks to their investment in both kinds of politicians. When they say "government doesn't work," -- they really mean it! After all, they have been "in" the government and they haven't "done" any "work" for the "people" in decades!

"But what are the people so pissed off about?"

Take a wild guess.

I believe in some areas where OWS is protesting there are a groups of anarchists infiltrating and attacking to cops then leaving the crowd that is not in on the attack to take the hurt.

This causes a response from the cops that don't know or understand that they are being set up by the anarchist.

This is a tactic that anarchists have use for years

S*** is about to get real here folks... If the cops were smart they would side with the vets and the protesters. They were out numbered, and now they are out gunned. I would be right there shoulder to shoulder with these brave men and women if I wasn't working 6 days a week just trying to survive. Keep up the good fight!! If it gets real bad there are a few million of us working stiffs ready to hang up our blue coller shirt and put on the camo.
