This is the sort of murder you expect to occur in the US - what with the KKK and inner city gangs. Or maybe South Africa. But not Britain. Quite shocking.

Nope not a troll, came in to read about a murder in the UK and your pointless post starts going on about guns... like they are the saviour of all and are able to solve every issue.

Seriously enough.

Brits have it in every thread about violence or yobs or murder..... WE DON'T WANT GUNS.

Stick your guns where the sun don't shine.

We don't want to be like you.

It's pathetic.

For goodness sake, can't you Americans keep your fearful, paranoid hard-on for guns in check for 1 minute ?

I'll spell it out for you: w-e d-o-n'-t n-e-e-d o-r w-a-n-t g-u-n-s. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Speak for yourself, I'd CCW if I could and I'm in the UK.

I'd have oodles of them, in fact to paraphrase Wayne from Wayne's World, I'd have enough guns to neccesitate a rack.

So please don't presume to speak for us all, thank you.

Fair enough, you're certainly entitled to that in your country, as long as you guys don't try and tell us to get rid of our guns.
Deal.

If he had, then his assaliants woud have had more guns

It's fine that in the US you carry a gun everywhere you go, every day. And you are scared for your life if you don't carry a gun.

Here, we don't have that fear. Think about it.

Yes, crime still happens. And people still get killed. But at least we don't feel frightened because we left our kalashnikov behind when popping out to post a letter.

No idea what CCW means, but I know loads of people in Britain who have several guns. Legally, obviously. The idea we can't own guns a is US myth

Of course, if the only reason you wanted a gun was to shoot other people then you might find it a problem

This is why I get pissed off on this site sometimes.

Here we have a story about a brutal, sadistic and horrific murder, yet some agenda-driven idiots want to use this murder as a vehicle for their pro-gun or anti-Islamic rhetoric, despite both of those issues being complete non sequiturs in relation to this story.

I remember reading about the murder of Kriss Donald, but - if I remember correctly - that was a racially motivated murder, rather than religious.

Fair enough..... this was done to death on a thread I made after the last massive "GUN ROW"

Every argument for and against was discussed and it was a very interesting few days/weeks.... really, truly was.

And we kinda put the argument to bed.... but someone always pops up with a "Guns would have stopped the situation" comment... when all the stats point to the opposite.

Seriously, check the thread out... very interesting discussions.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I believe "Freeborn" called it a "dishonourable draw"

Just on that note (not thread related) also reported today on the BBC - Scotland has hit a 32 year-low in gun crime.

It was yes you're right, and those guys were more likely to be Sikh than Muslim, even if religion is brought into it, which as you said correctly, it wasn't.

Carry concealed weapon basically, which is pretty much against every gun law in the country and no doubt abhorrent to many people on this site.

I know people can have guns in the UK, (I'm in the UK)...shotguns and rifles anyway, under the correct licences. But when SHTF the people with guns will have knocks on the door from the friendly government to confiscate them I've no doubt.

Anyway, very off topic sorry.

As to the OP it's a truly awful thing. I can't imagine how his family and friends must feel knowing what he went through. And I hope those responsible are punished to the full extent of the law.

Well I'm only going on recent reported history, and shall we say erm.. BBC Documentaries..? No offence intended but I understand the lack of a sense of humour.

Too true.

I just can't imagine what it must be like living with the average American's mindset. Of course we have violent crime and burglaries here, but it's this incessantly fearful paranoia which is displayed by the average American gun-fetishist, which makes me truly thankful that I don't live in a society like the US.

It's not the Wild West anymore, chaps!

Assume a bit much, don't you think? Instead, the young man might still be alive and the assailants thinking twice before considering such things in the future (not all avoidance of crime via presence of a firearm involves the discharge of a firearm).

Additionally, I neither carry nor even own a gun, personally, although I have been considering the purchase as I would like my girlfriend to have measures of protection in the event of an incident at the house. And I also don't live in any sort of fear you mention - my main fear is that this world will continue on as it has been without the problems of injustice and lack of consideration on a wide scale ever being addressed.

So please, in addition to my prior request, let's also stop - on all sides - with the baseless assumptions and ignorant accusations. You have no moral superiority here, and a shortsighted view to claim you would not ever appreciate having a gun handy if your family or other loved ones might at some point end up in the wrong company with ill intentions.

Be well.

Yes, and I'd be willing to bet that if he lived in a country where guns were legally available, that his attacker(s) would also possess similarly legally acquired firearms.

I don't quite see the rationale of your point.

Are you serious ?

The UK has around 600-700 murders per year, whereas the US has well over 10,000. It doesn't take a mathematical genius to work out that - even factoring in the difference in population - you are far more likely to be murdered in the US than you are in the UK.

The US is the most violent country in the Western world. It's also the Western country where guns are most freely available.

so you stay in a beautiful place that has no fights or anything in it i take it?
anyway, as usual in this forum, this is getting away from what the original poster was saying about what happened.
things like this has never happened in ayrshire for as long as i know and i hope the killer or killers get caught and punished,.

Then you fall into the ''fearful, paranoid coward'' category of most American gun-owners.

Why, may I ask, would you wish to carry a concealed firearm on your person during your day-to-day business ?

What possible benefit would you have from doing so ? Aren't your fists good enough protection ?
