snip... Half of the reason that the ninety nine percent are so wimpy is because they were subjucated by a corperate society that is seeking to serve its own interests. This is not a Robin Hood ' steal from the rich to give to the poor' situation. This is the rich getting richer off the sweat and tears of the common working man.

Open your eyes.

As are the goons who smashed things in the UK and took thinks that were not theirs. They are just acting out their frustrations. And, as long as it’s not your property or money being taken, well it okay.

And I don't think I know one OWS supporter who has a brain that encouraged that.
It's a peaceful protest, they where not there for the right cause.

In reality, Westerners are not complaining about having food, shelter, clean water or a reasonable expectation to health care. These are things that people throughout history would have rioted for, and have rioted for.

Well yes they are.

At the turn of the century, you were lucky to live past age 60 or so, and you didn’t even dream about retiring at age 55 or 60.

So you're telling me they dreamed of retiring after they died?

The reality is that most Western governments are near bankruptcy and have resorted to all sorts of schemes and methods to keep the boat afloat, Housing is not longer a good investment, money cannot be saved in any reasonable fashion—with near zero interest rates, and the Middle Class are the ones that have been hit the hardest. Not the youth-you didn’t have much to loose to begin with, and not the poor for the same reasons.

Your point?, are you trying to insinuate that there is only youth at the gathering(s)?

The “real” solution to the problem is to: rely on government less, start once again producing our own stuff with a real economy, and start using Nuclear power, drilling in Alaska, and building the pipeline from Alberta into the US. We also have to stop giving fake Solar, wind and electric car companies’ money. If you can’t make it without massive subsidies from government, you have a problem.

What do you mean when you said 'fake solar, wind and electric companies'?
What is 'stuff'?, do you understand the continent you are on and it's resources?

You also don’t have any reasonable solutions. I don’t have a lot of time for someone who flies in a plane run on fossil fuels, drives in a car burning fossil fuels, and goes home to a gas powered house, after lecturing me on ruining the environment. You should go hang with Gore in his energy intensive house that uses 10 x the power of most people in his state.

That's great, you know what we call people like that?, dick heads.

I hope nobody takes this post other than with a grain of salt.

OWS are not a protest - they are a mob.

This is not an attempt to influence elected or even unelected politicians and/or officials that run national policy, but a group occupying property that does not belong to them, obstruct the public property and abyse, humiliate people trying to go to wprk and earn a wage to support their families. As such, they are no different from schoolyard bullies trying to rough up a couple of eeks to get their greedy hands on their lunch money.

This is not the politics of defiance, but the politics of ENVY.

This is from Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs)

"My fellow Americans. I know that many of you are suffering. And I know that many of you look around and see a country where not all things appear to be equal. Well, guess what? They aren't. They never have been, and I can assure you, as long as liberty and freedom remain supreme, they never will be. Let's be honest - looking for equality is a democracy is like looking for love in a wh0re house. You might see something that comes close, but in the end, that dog don't hunt.

No, my fellow Americans, I believe our best hope for a true recovery will come not from a temptation to make all things more equal, but rather, to make all things more possible. To do that, we must rethink everything we currently hold dear in our modern economy, beginning with our obscene relationship with Debt and Spending. These are the true enemies of prosperity - not your neighbor. Our problems today were not caused by the success of others. They were caused by the mistaken belief that we could have some things we wanted - but in fact, could simply not afford.

I look now to the wealthiest among us. To the ones who have in the past, provided the jobs we need so desperately today. To the innovators and risk takers that truly drive our economy. We need your help. Even though just 1% of you pay nearly 30% of all the Federal Taxes we collect, I must now ask you to pay even more. It pains me to ask those of you who have already given so much because as any fool can plainly see - it simply isn't fair. Alas, I believe that I must. Our country is suffering, and we need you."

I think he says it very well. As I've said in the past, we are assured an equal oppourtunity, NOT equal outcome.

Thank you for sharing with us your politics of ignorance. I guess it is their fault for following every other revelotionary process in history and staging a protest. Lets hope it doesn't come to reveloution... There's been quite enough of that lately.
I'm sure that many of the protesters would very much like to go to work and earn a living but there is one little problem...

THERE ARE NO JOBS FOR THEM TO HAVE!!!

If you want to meet a bully... go to the stock exchange and say "hello" to the nice people there. If you can make yourself heard over all the yelling, shouting, pushing and shoveing. They are all gentlemen I'm sure.

I think you will find that you are mistaken... The playing field is hardly even. The odds are stacked against the working man in favour of large corperations.
There seems to one misconception that the OWS movement holds. They seem to believe that the 'SYSTEM' is broken. It is not. the 'system' is doing exectly what is meant to do.

Make the rich, richer and the poor, poorer.

If you don't mind my making an observation..... OWS could do a lot worse than using some of that $500,000 they have taken in to hire YOU as the head of public relations for presenting an intelligent and coherent message where near chaos exists now. I read your post carefully and if the camps across the nation could have representation like that to the local media organizations, numbers at the occupations wouldn't be a problem what so ever. There may be TOO many.

Thanks for the support!

These are fellow Americans flooding the streets to bark their truth at power... its what happens when dictators of destructive & deadly foreign / monetary policies can't be ousted by voting, While mocking the peoples will.

The people cant vote away wars / occupations, get rid of a congress that embraces "no corporation left behind" / too influential to fail.

Being silenced at the voting booth, leads to taking it to the streets.

Divide yourself now on message boards, which is fine.. but when it's you and strangers on the street if/when the final "us Vs them" SHTF scenario hits.. you'll be hugging these very same ripe hippie people as a fellow average person on your side.

I just got back from the original Ows on liberty and trinity. I'm in new York for a wedding and decided to do the whole tourist thing. I told my family I wanted to go to the protest and check it out since I read so much about it here on ats. To give you the low down there were only about 200 protestors situated on about 3/4 of an acre. The main stream media hit it spot on. They were young hippies smoking playing guitars and beating on drums all day. It reminded me of the song- I don't wanna work I just want to bang on the drums all day. I was very disappointed, it was not nearly as big as it sounded. The majority of the people there were tourists taking pictures. 200 protestors in a city of millions. They seemed more like the .000099 percent to me. There messages were mixed and the tourists got a good laugh.

My mom died when I was a kid, and my dad became cold and distant after that. I've lived in the sticks my whole life, so going weeks without power is a given in the winter at least once every 2-3 years. I'm living in the middle of nowhere Appalachia (the nearest grocery store is at least 10 miles away), not exactly the type of environment where one is coddled, and I like a lot of the things that I hear coming from this movement.

Sorry your sweeping generalization of my generation isn't exactly up to snuff for those of us who live in reality.

Thank you for sharing that. You are exactly the type of person that I believe the OWS movement is trying to create opportunities for.

are you mad at the fact that thousands of american citizens who have been lied to and borderline brainwashed by their government and financial elite got organized and are making a voice that can finally be heard? so protest is only appropriate if they all act how you think they should? typical defeatist. i wish i could negative star and flag you.

Actually there is no equal opportunity. Here's a very simple example.

Marcus is a three year old boy. he was born to a single mother in south Detroit, MI. She works night shift at a gas station register, leaving Marcus with his 70 year-old grandmother for this time. She makes minimum wage, and lives paycheck to paycheck.

James is a three year old boy. He was born to his mother and father in Cedars-Sinai Medical center in Beverly Hills, CA. His father is a partner in one of the top law firms of Los Angeles, earning a high six-digit salary. His mother is a stay-at-home mother who spends much of her time with young James - the hired help handles most of the housework, giving her plenty of leisure time for her young son.

Are Marcus and James born with equal opportunity, beezzer?

Yes.
They either succeed or fail based on their own merits. If one does better in school than the other, should we manipulate the school system so it's "equal"?

ETA: All I am reading are blind folded posts by dinosaurs, you guys need to get yourself into a retirement home and leave the rest to us, seriously, go to bed, it's late.
