Easter Island's latitude is close to that of Caldera, Chile, and it lies 3,510 km (2,180 mi) west of continental Chile at its nearest point (between Lota and Lebu).

I don't know too much about Easter Island aside from the pedestrian stuff. I have never see these excavation images either. I dropped your image in GoogleImages and you might want to try that as well. It returns a lot of great images. But yours is the only one that shows excavation to this extant...
Based on the gentlemen in the powder blue leisure suit I would say that this must be sometime in the 70s or early 80s or the dude is just seriously fashion challenged. It would be awesome just to have the background information on just these images. I am coming up short at the moment but the pic I posted is apparently from a post card. Yours may be as well.
Thanks for the post. It is really cool to see them at their full length with their folded hands.

"Some plants on Easter Island clearly come from South America, such as the islanders’ staple food the sweet potato (which is known by its Quechua name kumara), and also manioc and gourd. Similarly, two species of freshwater plants, found in Easter Island’s crater lakes but nowhere else in the Pacific, and both useful to man, come from South America. One of them was the totora reed, which dominated the banks of South America’s Lake Titicaca and was cultivated in vast irrigated fields in the desert valleys on the coast below; it was used for making mats, houses, and boats. The other was known to the islanders as tavari, and was used as a medicinal plant. Like the totora, it grew in Lake Titicaca. This last information supports the case for contact with Tiahuanaco."
"For example, one legend says "King Hotu-Matua's country was called Maori, and it was on the continent of Hiva...The king saw that the land was slowly sinking in the sea", as a result he put all his people into two giant canoes and sailed East to Easter Island."

It makes sense,
They would have needed trees to make the materies needed to create theses stones. And yet there are no Trees on that island. Therefore there must "have been" trees there. So, dig up!

Amazing, I had no clue they were that big. I knew they sank but assumed it was no more than a few feet at most. Maybe they really are a lot older than we realize. Is it possible that the island could have been submerged at one point after their creation softening the soil and that caused them to sink so much?
I would say the more parsimonious explanation is that they are much older , like hundreds of thousands of years older and the land built up around them . But of course we can't have that explanation because then it would ruin Darwin's bogus theory of evolution

then the "giants" must have had proportionately very small penises to be that tall (50'? 60'?) but still sexually compatible with human women

And how does a human female gestate and give birth to a giant baby, around the size of a small cow?
The penis/vagina thing is true too. The only other way to have produced these 'nephilim' hybrids would have been in-vitro / test tube / genetic manipulation. Which brings us full circle back to ET (of whatever species) being the originators of our current human species...whatever their reasons were.
