The word you're looking for is "welfare" not "socialism." I'm sorry, I know the indoctrination tells you that welfare is socialism is communism
is the democratic party is liberal is fascism is bears is homosexuality is pedophilia is George Soros is obama is Muslim is terrorist is leftist is
Michael Moore is socialist, and encourages you to mix all these terms into a big ol ignorant-flavored smoothie, so it's probably hard for you to
break the habit.
Welfare exists independently of any given social or economic system.
Now with this in mind, the reason welfare for the people is good is because, put simply there are people who for whatever reason cannot meet their own
needs, or perhaps the needs of their families. First off, it's a moral imperative to help these people out. Individual charity is less efficient at
getting to the broad swath of needy in the nation - and it certainly can't help where entire communities are in poverty. But let's do like the
sociopath-Libertarian segment of our society, and forget the morals of the situation. Who's a better worker, the single mother who can feed and
shelter her kids, or the single mother who cannot? Which of these two womenand their families is a greater contribution to our society, the one able
to feed, clothe, school, and shelter her family and pay her bills, or the one constantly looking for babysitters, cutting her electricity budget to pay
for food, and unable to hold steady hours due to a crazy home life?
So then, why is corporate welfare a bad thing? Well, that's easy. Corporations simply don't need it. First, and most obviously, corporations are not
people, and so should not be considered valid recipients of benefits for the people of the nation. Second, they have resources far in excess of what
that single mother can bring to bear. They can get a loan. She probably can't (at least not without a usurious interest rate). Further, the people
who head corporations tend to have made a good sum of money from their business - if that business is hurting, maybe they should draw from their own
bank accounts and invest capital where needed?
Welfare is for people who need help. corporations are not people and do not need the help.
Clear?
