While I appreciate your thoughts your words are sad, depressing, hopeless sounding and negative. I choose to see the good in life and the people around me and I do see more good than bad in this world, every single day. I really do, not making that up. I changed my attitude and realized that living in the moment, in the present and allowing myself to feel the good, the love that is around me from friends and family is what is important. I always think, "It could be worse." Being positive is more useful than being negative and helpless, hopeless feeling and I don't think good things come out of that attitude. Just like I don't believe getting sad helps anything, I'd rather get mad because that is a more useful emotion. As far as the world is concerned, look back on history and you'll see those times weren't no easy shakes, either.

Not only that, but being hopeful logically actually produces a better world on ALL levels. It's not just a matter of living in the moment and feeling good and not worried. Being happy and in the moment actually makes you, as small or as large as it may be, contribute that feeling to those around you. When you sit around scared and hopeless and even angry, it just goes into the mix of the world. The events on the big stage are not just the big leaders acting all alone. It's their countries' emotions, built-up,absorbed and in motion. So the more crap you put out, the more crap will be in the world. Simple.

I wonder if the original poster is still reading this. Anyway this is for all you out there that have lost all hope or are about to lose it. I hope it helps

You turned away when I looked you in the eye,
And hesitated when I asked if you were alright,
Seems like you're fighting for you life,
But why? oh why?
Wide awake in the middle of your nightmare,
You saw it comin' but it hit you outta no where,
And theres always scars
When you fall back far

We lose our way,
We get back up again
It's never too late to get back up again,
One day you will shine again,
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever,
Lose our way,
We get back up again,
So get up, get up,
You're gonna shine again,
Never too late to get back up again,
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever
(May be knocked down but not out forever)

You're rolled out at the dawning of the day
Heart racin' as you made you're little get away,
It feels like you've been runnin' all your life
But, why? Oh why?

So you've pulled away from the love that would've been there,
You start believin' that your situation's unfair

But there's always scars,
When you fall back far

We lose our way,
We get back up again
Never too late to get back up again,
One day, you're gonna shine again,
You may be knocked down but not out forever,
Lose our way, we get back up again,
So get up, get up
You're gonna shine again
It's never too late, to get back up again
You may be knocked down, but not out forever,
May be knocked down, but not out forever!

This is love callin', love callin', out to the broken,
This is love callin'.
I am so broken
This is love callin' love callin

Lose our way,
We get back up, (get back up again)
It's never too late
You may be knocked down but not out forever!

This is love callin' love callin'
Out to the broken,
This is love callin'...

Let me introduce myself, I am the American Dream. All of my grandparents immigrated (LEGALLY) from Italy back in the days of Ellis Island. They came with meager belongings and a Dream. They learned the language, English, that is, and worked hard to make a life here. One of my grandfathers even owned a store. They worked hard so that their children could have a better life. These were people of good stock. My father was taught the same work ethic, served in the Air Force and worked very hard to raise his family. He passed on those same traits to his 2 sons.

I have very proudly tried to continue that tradition of hard work and patriotism and raised a family of my own. I have worked hard since I was a teen. Started a business from scratch and for 20 years supported my family of 5. We lived, not richly, but with a roof over our heads and never really a want for much. I have always believed we were the quintesential middle class American family living what I believed to be the American Dream.

Through the late 80s and into the 90s things were good, I am in construction. I started to notice something. A large percentage of our work was coming from people using real estate equity. They used it to expand their homes, or to start businesses. I used to say all the time, this is bad, the SIGHTF and well as we all know now, it did.

I am and have always been very conservative in my political beliefs. I have also never missed an election since I turned 18. That is any election, local, national or special elections, I take them all seriously. It is our right and many great men and women have died to protect that right.

Like you, the OP, my ideals, my hopes and dreams for the future are beginning to darken. It is as if the curtain has been lifted, the gig is up. As hard as this is to say, I honestly don't see any point in casting my vote any longer. How can I possibly believe it will make any difference. Witnessing all that has happened in the last decade, it has become blatantly obvious that we the people, are no longer in control.

I watched to Tea Party, and thought it was great. Finally people are waking up, making a stand. Then it got hijacked by the Right and demonized by the left. Now we see OWS and again I thought, okay maybe this movement will remain independent, but it appears this will be hijacked by the left and demonized by the right. This one may continue to grow or it may not, but I truly believe this is just the beginning. For many of us who are intellectually honest, we can see these uprisings for what they are. It isn't about left and right, republican or democrat. It is about a whole range of issues tied into an out of control government. It is about I have had enough and I'm not going to take it anymore.

I don't know what the future holds but I am sure it will involve change. It won't be painless. I only hope that it brings us to a better place.

I may not have a lot of hope for the governements of the world and those that control them, but I do have tremendous hope in the resolve of the American people. We all need to come together and stop being devisive. We need to get back to what our founders believed. We need to get back to where the real power of this nation rests. We need to get back to:
We The People

You hit the nail on the head that something needs to be done but here is my issue. I'm in my 30 and i could of swore all through my childhood and teen years the message to protest and riot these corrupt system has been implanted from music to movie's. It makes me think one thing and one thing only they want us to get mad. They want us to riot and rebel.
My fear is Obama's Idol the king of killing civilians good old Lincoln. I know insert your hate accusation below. I keep thinking of Lincoln's scorched earth policy that left so many women and children to starve after the rebellion was stopped it was there punishment. But history is goes to the winners so he was painted a hero.
But then again its almost a repeat of Shay's rebellion just on a world wide scale. The protest need to continue for atleast another few months if there will be any change and it needs more people. More need to mass much more. Atleast the U,S hasn't went the path of Italy yet. I wonder what the government would do if the people tourched the banks world wide. The money is worthless its all make believe They need a new currency that is backed by gold or silver so it keeps its value and you can't use all these made up numbers like the banks have been. The days of pulling money (dept) out of thin air are on there way out.
Then again if we stand up one at a time we will get knocked down. the world needs to stand up all at the same time and stomp this corruption out.

A very well-worded message to start this thread, Thejlxc. While reading it, the old saying, "Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die!", came to mind.

Since the Bible and probably other major religious writings predict that world society will eventually decay to the point of anarchy, we should just accept the envitable I suppose. From my experience of working with people at all of life's levels and stages, what's clear is that the person you see in the mirror is the ultimate determiner of if you live and leave this life happy, or full of anger and/or regrets.

So let the world deteriorate around you and understand that it is just meant to be. But do all you can to bring happiness to yourself and those you care about. This advice was and is relevant 1,000 years ago, today and tomorrow..until the end finally arrives. Don't Worry... Be personally HAPPY. Why impose any other reality upon yourself?

Best wishes to each of you!

What we are going through is what the Romans went through between 400AD and 800AD... and what about the British between 1900 and 1950... or even Germany between 1870 and 1945, they went from empire to collapse to empire to collapse to empire to collapse...

We are living in historic and turbulent times... the passing of one empire to the next...or the evolution of an empire in one form to another...again the Roman Republic to Imperial Rome.

The people were the same, the lifestyles changed some, but again were similar to what had passed... but people did survive.

We will, too. Now the question to ask is what is to come and take the place of what we now have. Calling for the overthrow of a world economic system is wishful thinking at best. As long as man is involved, there will be some form of trade...gold, silver, goods vs services, barter, commodities, etc... there will always be a scale of worth for anything of value.

The means of managing and distributing it is where the conflict comes in...Marxism, Socialism, Communism, Capitalism, Corporatism? People say that these are merely divisive labels..but really, they identify different philosphies and outllooks that do exist... just look at the differing opinions here.

The key is to not be defeated. You can not change the world by yourself...you can influence one part of the whole. Beyond that, you need to be prepared for collapse and rebirth... unfortunately there is a period in between those two that is unpleasant. How long that period will last and how severe it will be will vary, but it will be pretty bad to say the least.

And despite the negative outlook on those that do prepare, it is a neccessary act... there will be bad people preying on others, so guns for defense will be a neccessity. Food and goods will be in short supply... thus the need to stock up. Really, if the system is overthrown...who will run the factories that produce things... and then distribute them... and store them... and repair them? So get ready...

Frankly, and I mean this in the best way... quit feeling sorry for yourself and the world. Face the reality that things are in an absolute mess, here and abroad, and that it could get crazy in the next 6 to 12 months. Look to history and see that our situation is not unique nor unusual... merely cyclical. You need to be strong enough to see the other side...

It IS cyclic by my understanding which means the engine design is wrong. This whole charade can be torn down and rebuilt but if the values we have adopted are not replaced with more harmonious to ourselves and our place within the universe values then the cycle must repeat itself. Changing out the present values would take generations if it could be done at all given all the variables. We have built all this on an unsound foundation, the idea that like monkeys in the jungle standing before the monkey with the most coconuts will assume that's the mission in life, screw the distant sound of chainsaws....! Unless our values change, any changes that come about from OWS or a full on revolution will only cause what we have now to morph into something just as bad but perhaps more sublime. The period between collapse and rebirth will not be pretty (and that's not even getting in to its possible engineering). We won't be voting in a new party but forcing in an entire new set of rules with respect to how it all works and who's driving. IMHO the Bible and its ten commandments tell me that there are things we don't fully understand. Someone , somewhere, knows something, even as a non believer I can see that. At the end of the day, Everything we've always taken for granted will either be no more or will have morphed into something else we don't fully understand and the rest will depend on how many credits you have.

I have to agree with almost everything you say. Allthrough your post I was nodinng my head and feeling glad that yet another soul has awoken to the truth! S&F.

However - as an active member of the Occupy Melbourne movement I would add onne thing. If enough of us stand together, we cannot be ignored. They said the banks were too big to fail - what happens when we are too big to ignore?

The system is a house of cards, it will collapse very soon. My hope is that with enough of us standing togehter we will have some real influence in what happens next.

I beleive this strongly. I am willing to sleep on the streets for as long as it takes for use to get there.

I would also add that this is as much a spiritual uprising as a political one. There is a new spirituality coming, and everyone is feeling it accoring to their own paradigm. As people awake, I pray they will join their local Occupy movement. Every day we get bigger. Every day we get stronger.

So, what does happen when too big to fail meets too big to ignore?

I hate to state the obvious but a brief review of history makes it crystal clear that once the people figure out that they can vote themselves 'benefits', there is no going back, the economy/government/nation is doomed to fail. Once the term 'redistribution of wealth' was introduced into the vocabulary, everybody began to demand that some of that wealth needed to be distributed to them. the TEA Party, et. al. are fighting that trend tooth and nail but they can't win because 50% of the population are already on the government dole. Game over.

We do not need to be "victims" of this war. This is another example of been there, done it, got the tee shirt. Remember Coxie's Army, the Bonus Army? This kind of demonstration comes up periodically, but it hasn't for a while because we haven't had idiots in office that had the approval of the big majority!

Please keep the faith. Please keep going to the Job Service and looking for work or caring for your kids or whatever keeps you motivated. A couple years ago, I got kicked out of my job by a corporate nightmare juggernaut and did just what I am suggesting. I got a job in my own home town with a local weekly newspaper--less money, more satisfaction, a lot more KUDOS than I ever got in the broadcast industry--within 2 weeks. Perseverence pays. Good luck, my friend.

I appreciate and respect your spiritual uprising
but what are 'more people' going to accomplish?
I'll tell you what I think.....it'll only incite then instill marital law that much quicker.

Look what happened when a dozen protesters walk into Citibank last week to close their accounts! They got arrested and charged with disturbing the peace.
So who benefited that day? Certainly not those twelve customers.

We have pissed off people while they have the armed forces! We're to the point if you spit in the street you're lucky if you don't get tasered!

Do you REALLY think people waking up and getting mad/protesting will change anything? If so, I'd love to hear your answer because for the life of me, I can't even pretend to come up with one.

I'm with OP.
We're screwed with a capital "F"

Thankyou for putting every single one of my thoughts into a nice cohesive handful of paragraphs.
Every sentiment expressed in your post is identical to my own thoughts and beliefs, 100%.

EVERY ATS member and all visitors should read this as i feel it perfectly articulates the current situation.
Is there a way this can be sent via mass mail to everyone?

I will be the first joining an army to fight the evils of this world, the problem is that there is NO army!

I, for one, am sick of being a slave to this world and it's systems.
I'm sick of having very little oppourtunity because the goal posts keep moving.
I'm sick of being blamed for all the financial problems of the world because i have no finances.
I'm sick of not being able to find love, a relationship and happiness because the fabricated ideals of the 'perfect' husband don't fit my description.
I'm sick of having no life or positive future because of all of the above.

I also don't want to be the only one bellowing the rebel yell, only to be locked in a tiny cell until i hear the bagpipes calling.

We have to free ourselves, but when, where, how?

I could not of wrote it better, you wrote exactly how i feel. Us in Australia are always trying to figure how to fight back against the elites and you are correct in nerly everything you wrote. SO MANY STILL BELIEVE IN THEIR SPLIT groups. They keep forgetting we are all Humans from Earth and that we share the same mass consiousness. If we dont wake up and take back our world we will loose it forever.

There is no Duality in the infinite but the elites love to split us .

Male Female
Democrat Republican
Tall Short
Black white
Christian Muslim

Lets not forget the elites help make this sytem. We are all apart of the same consiosness just express differently in these human vessels. THEY DO NOT WANT YOU TO EVER KNOW THIS.

YOU ARE DEVINE EVERY SINGLE HUMAN ON THE PLANET IS DEVINE.

Never loose this truth, and take back our planet.
