Please tell me what is the point of reducing the bloated govt but then giving all the money saved to rich/wallstreet/corporations instead?? The whole point of reducing the govt would be to reduce the burden on the average American and cut their taxes right? But Ron Paul is only cutting taxes on the rich and powerful, there are zero tax cuts for 99% of Americans.

You're just ignoring the harsh reality and fine print of his plan because you've been sold on the idea that the govt is too bloated, which may be true, but there's only sense in reducing the bloat if it somehow benefits 99% of American's to do so not just wallstreet/rich/corporations like Ron Paul's plan does.
Any plan should benefit 99% of American's not just the 1% richest who are giddy over this plan in wallstreet.

A tax on a business is a tax on the people.

If you're going to cut, then first cut all the tons of programs/spending that only benefit the rich and corporations that they lobby for all day in washington and cut out of control pork barrel spending etc. If that doesn't "cut" enough then any further cuts have to be made very carefully instead of just blanket gutting every single damn program which benefits the middle/lower class. Then the most important part, use the saved money to benefit the middle/lower class that make up 99% of America by cutting their taxes or giving them cheaper healthcare etc.

Ron Paul is doing the opposite, using all the money saved cutting programs, that were benefiting the middle/lower class, to put more money in the pockets of the rich/wallstreet/corporations by cutting only their taxes (dividend, capital gains, corporate income taxes).

Sorry but he does not close any of the loopholes that allow for tax havens, exploiting cheap labor abroad etc. In fact he wants to make it all easier for corporations to cheat out the govt and middle/lower class out of money by putting less regulations and restrictions on corporations... Greedy corporations these days want to make the most amount of money possible, they are not going to stop exploiting tax havens and cheap labor out of the goodness of their hearts, as history shows us.. They wont bring their jobs home and pay people $8 a hour here when they can pay 10 cents a hour in china/poor countries with no minimum wage.

BTW his plan cuts a minimum of 10% of all federal workers jobs, you said unemployment is too high, firing another 10% of federal workers only makes it worse..

darkest4, I agree with you. However, I think Ron will bring back the wonderful Reaganville. Those pesky poor will be forgotten about, and people will be back in their commercial euphoria. They will be happy with their Solid Gold Dancers once again. I can then make a living as an entrepreneur duping the public with emotional magic tricks.

while some people poke holes in every corner possible all I see is major reductions across a large area. reducing waste and improving bang for the buck cannot be done by any one president but if every president makes it a priority it will get done.

I won't support any new plan that doesn't simplify or eliminate the personal income tax. Then dump the IRS or cut the staff 90%.

What good is lowering corporation tax to 15%? GE paid nothing. I'm sure many more we didn't hear about are also paying little to nothing as well.

This plan isn't putting tingles up my leg.

The problem with the data from his master plan is that it assumes he will walk into the White House and wave a magic wand on day one. POOF! All of those departments are suddenly gone. There are a number of issues with that, especially on the state level when the states have no money to have the complete burdon of education (for example) suddenly fall upon them.

In reality, if he were to somehow achieve the goal of sutting down any department, it would take years to go through the process. That along skews his numbers as somewhat out there in fantasy land.

Federal jobs lol generally I think a job is doing something that helps someone else make money who then turns and pays you. But federal jobs lol that is nothing but the government hiring people to help spend taxpayer money. The number is so big because we let it go on for that long.

As for all the student loans and thinking they won't exist anymore; they would not have been handed out willy-nilly in the first place had those loans not been guaranteed by the government. As a result of everyone getting a loan to go to school the schools say 'hey guaranteed money, lets charge more'. Look at how expensive it is to go to school now. And if a student couldn't pay the loan off, the government would...wait! that means you and me!. Making banks more responsible to who they give a loan to sounds like a good idea to me, and it will help to start lowering the cost of higher education.

Interesting how quick to see the reaction of people that have become so dependent on the welfare system freaking out at the loss of government agencies that are at best money black holes.

It is easy to be greedy and say look at all those rich people, lets make them pay for everything they don't pay enough. While there ARE greedy rotten corporations (that needed to fail and should have failed before we were all CONgressed into bailing them out with our tax money.) Last time I checked poor people don't create jobs. These tax cuts help free up the burden on small, medium and sure larger corporations/companies, businesses so that they can grow, add employees, pay employees more; who than buy more and create more demand and the circle continues.

Is it possible to erase 40 or 50 years of bad monetary policy (and 10 years of devastating money policy) instantly? No of course not. But Ron Paul's plan is an honest and doable plan that will start us in the right direction. And unlike every other politician Ron has 30 years of rock solid consistency to show that he is not just saying what people want to hear or just coming up with catchy phrase words to sell a pizza..I mean Presidency.

Good God! I cannot believe it. As much as I don't care for Rush, this is big news for us RP supporters. Rush has an extremely large audience of conservatives and if he can get his listener-base to back RP, we might be in for some astonishing number increases.

Thanks for sharing!

I imagine this was the part of the plan that appealed to Rush..

Paul would also make far-reaching changes to federal tax policy, reducing the top corporate income tax rate to 15 percent, eliminating capital gains and dividends taxes and allowing for repatriation of overseas capital without tax penalties. All tax cuts enacted under former President George W. Bush would be extended.

I really like Ron Paul. If I had to vote, he'd get my support all the way. In fact, he already is since I'm doing a promo (non profit) video for a local RP group here and did the sign bomb last week.

However...

I have to disagree with a few things in this "Restore America" plan...

-Extension of Bush Tax Cuts

-Eliminating Energy Department

-Cutting funding for EPA and the FDA

-Cease funding for Planned Parenthood.

As of now, that's really all I can think of but other than that, cool.

FULL ACK!

I like Ron Paul and much of his plan, espcially the full audit of the Federal Reserve.

BUT:

The root cause of the messed-up finances of the USA (and most other countries) is the fact that the people who work honestly are punished with income tax while the tricksters, the shameless and the criminals get away without contributing (sufficiently) to the nation.

I don't think that cutting expenses is all it takes to make the USA a great nation again.

Another point that Ron Paul should reconsider is the idea that going back to the Gold standard would solve monetary issues. The amount of money in the market should reflect the production of all people using that money. Trying to balance it against an arbitrarily chosen material good misses the point. It is the people that count. See the highly relevant Capitol Hill Babysitting Co-op experiment. And don't forget: The US dollar is still a very popular currency outside the USA. Since the people of Russia, Brazil, India and even China experience more freedom and less suppression, their willingness to produce has increased. So it is necessary that the amount of money for the planet is increased. But of course it should wind up in the hands of working people and not be gobbled up by the banks, which still try to solve the problems that have resulted from their irresponsible and bad management.

So, if you happen to know Ron Paul in person, please say hello to him from me and have him read this post. I am willing to elaborate on the details on how to save America if he contacts me
After all, he is still the best hope the country has.

Finally for the first time in a while they actually speak about Paul in the news! Took long enough.

I hope this is a turning point and it's Paul's time for the spotlight after Cain, and I know he's going to do a much better job than Cain.

I'd have to agree with you for the most part. I wish he would take a reform-based approach like he is with the military. I see no reason to close the dept of education and not close the department of defense. The military-industrial complex is insanely corrupt, IMO. Educating our population keeps us competitive. It gives our citizens value. I wouldn't agree with his plan unless I saw what he is planning to do to keep our children in school once the department is closed. I'm not saying that he department is doing a good job, but I sincerely want our children to succeed for us in the future, and we could help them with a reformed, well-funded, and well-run education system.

Of course, as I was one of those who was duped into voting for Obama because of his anti-war rhetoric and support of a public option for health care, I have no idea how any Ron Paul supporter could actually believe that he would follow through with this. Congress must be cleaned out. The answer will never be found in the White House.

Another 'conservative', take it out of the poor' plan. If you want to really save money, do away with derivatives, stop the wars and the war budget, stop the welfare to the rich. You imagine, BP, Goldman Sachs, Exxon, etc., doesn't pay one dime in corporate tax.
Getting rid of the 'fat' in government, is a good idea, however.
Stop sending our jobs to China, etc.
There's plenty of money to keep social security and medicare going for years. To think otherwise is nothing but a Fox news lie.
The OWS people don't think its feasible to further tax the poor, that's why they're out there, they ARE the poor.

Just imagine how much money we can save if we stop bombing Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Libya. Oh and remove ALL the troops from Iraq, South Korea, and the rest of the 100+ nations we have bases in.

I'm sure the recent deployment of troops to Uganda isn't cheap either.

Seriously. The problems we face would never have been if it wasnt for these wars. They are bleeding us dry. We need to change policy or change leaders because people are dying over there and it's only making the problems worse on both sides. The worst part is that the futility of these wars are now being used as an excuse to cut everything this county does for its citizens. I think it's sad. The only reason our government doesn't work is because everyone is so ready to screw eachother over.

So you're not voting for Ron Paul because nobody can control him....

Anybody find something odd with that post?

Also on the Department of Education, do you guys realize how little the DoE actually does? that is why Ron Paul says THEY'RE UNPRODUCTIVE.

I was just talking to a presidential candidate for the board of education and he told me that the schools get VERY little funding from DoE and most of the funds actually come from the state. Surprise-surprise!

People are talking about once the DoE goes, so will the education of the generations to come, you guys really think that will happen? Once you take it away, you get better education, less governed education, maybe even real education. How great would it be if your children knew the real reason for the civil war? or what exactly went down in 1933??

Come on guys, get real here, the DoE does absolutely nothing.

I would like to see a new education system with competing school systems. One that allows the parents to pick the school there child would attend based on the performance of the school. And the school would get money from the state based on the amount of kids in their school. That would weed out alot of bad teachers and truly help our education system.
