I don't get it. I'm an American, I work hard, 60-70 hours a week to support my family and lifestyle, don't ask any one for help but am willing to and do help those that need it. I own a lot of guns because I like to hunt and shoot and I am fiercely protective of my right to do so, as are most of my friends. We don't spend time bashing other countries (except maybe France.. just kidding) and as a rule spend zero time thinking we are the center of the world, the only time I see or hear that is on these forums and from people that don't live in America. We may agree or disagree with what our elected officials do but hopefully we can eventually vote them out of office. The average person in the US doesn't want to give away billions of dollars in foreign aid, probable to the countries where a lot of the America bashers live, and don't like policing the world. Remember a great many of you would be speaking German right now without the USA. We have the same worries that you have, our children, our homes, our careers and our futures. We could give a rats arse where a UFO would land. In the opinion of pretty much all of the people I know the rest of the world is more then welcome to sort out their own problems...hows the EU working out for you guys or immigration or any of the other things that we also deal with? Seems like we all have problems to deal with other than bashing America... Just saying

Here here. What an asinine thread..

Ps.............I absolutely despise American bashing threads

Heard that! It is America that gave the world the gift of freedom of speech to bash it in the first place, lol.

So ironic.

Wow. And all this time the historians have been giving the credit of the philosophy of freedom to the ancient Greeks. Thanks for setting the record strait there. America saves us yet again! Man what is wrong with your education system?

You made an excellent point about America and its desire to remain Isolated pre-WWII. People like to rant about the United States' global influence, but it pales in comparison to the British Empire's policy of Imperialism and Coloninsation the 16th, 17th, & 18th centuries. It wasn't until 1941 that the U.S. entered the war, ensuring Britain's and the rest of Europe's survival.

Sorry all I can say about that is bull. The U.S broke the stalemate but it didn't win the war on its own or save the world. Seriously it's this kind of unresearched self opinionated statements which is the general cause of American bashing. And I've got to tell you split that as a result of reading other outlandiish claims you've made you really don't know alot about the topic at all.

You are assuming that I implied that America saved the world by entering the war. I did not. I don't think anyone can argue against that America's entrance in the war helped ensure victory for Allied forces,

Well actually you saying "It wasn't until 1941 that the U.S. entered the war, ensuring Britain's and the rest of Europe's survival. " can be taken as saying that the U.S saved the allies.

You're right that the U.S did help ensure victory and I'm the first to stick up for it when some unresearched people claim different. But there's to many American go on about the U.S saving the world. I myslef lived in the U.S for two years and the amount of times I got "when we saved you guys" Mind you those same people thought the war started in 1941 as well and Henry Ford invented the car.

Well actually, since I wrote the post and only I know what the intention was meant to convey, it was just that, and nothing more. I can't help it if you assumed, based on your own-admitted biases because of previous conversations with Americans, that I was claming "America won the war!" Furthermore, your statement, "And I've got to tell you split that as a result of reading other outlandiish claims you've made you really don't know alot about the topic at all," isn't relative here most of my posts have to do with UFO's, and nothing to do with world history. It's entertainment.

In the end, after all the bashing and arguing, we're both really making the same point here, if only we'd stop a second, collect our heads and cool off.
Lol...Thank you for the discussion. Cheers!

Well if you look close you'll see that splitinfinity's post is in there as well and I was refering to a point split made when saying that the world did nothing to stop Germany until the U.S got involved which was explained to split that it was the invasion of Poland which sparked WW2 in 1939 because though I note that split is often right in other subjects WW2 seems to be splits weak point.

I think pretty much all of us would love it if Aliens landed anywhere other than the US. In fact, it makes sense that they'd choose China really!

Why make buddies with the poorest nation on earth(the US), when you can make buddies with the richest nation, and the one with the most potential, history, culture, intelligence and respectful people.

Cheers

I would suspect it may have something to do with the number of strategic nuclear weapons the U.S. has.

China: About 240 total warheads.
France: Fewer than 300 operational warheads.
Russia: Approximately 2,400 operational strategic warheads , approximately 2,000 operational tactical warheads, and approximately 7,000 stockpiled strategic and tactical warheads.
United Kingdom: Fewer than 160 deployed strategic warheads, total stockpile of up to 225.
United States: 5,113 active and inactive [1] nuclear warheads and approximately 3,500 warheads retired and awaiting dismantlement. The 5,113 active and inactive nuclear warhead stockpile includes 1,968 strategic warheads, approximately 500 operational tactical weapons, and approximately 2,645 inactive warheads.

Many witnesses have reported UFO sightings over military nuclear facilities. Maybe they are attracted to the pretty lights?

What? Is this guy above you pumping up padded to the max grid iron? What a pussy game! They don't even wear real footy boots. We wear real footy boots in everything from Rugby League to Aussie rules to soccer.

One thing the Brits have in common with us Aussies is at least they play real sport.

Grid iron. It has more pads than a maternity ward.

I wrote "I think you mixing up years here", right? Oh, and trust me, I see your mistakes, thats why I replied to you in first place
.

I have absolutely nothing against american, I think you guys are great nation, with this sparkle no other have.
It's an international banking elite, that been pulling strings for last god-knows-how-long I really don't like.
And they are using you as a tool, since start of IIWW, which they actually invested in.
Sooner you cut ties with them, better for you and rest of the world.

SplitInfinity, your 'problem' is that you look at the history in a very limited way. Tunneled, so to speak. You talking about nations, wars, communism, nazism, fighting wars for freedom, and so on. That's NOT how foreign politics works on big scale. It's money. You ever heard monologue from Sidney Lumet's "Network" ?

Of course it did. America served as an unreachable (by Germany and Japan, with the exception of Pearl Harbor) supply line, and through sheer logistics, with the resources of the world at their disposal, the Allies won in Europe (the Germans, on the other hand, had only what they had in their captured territories, which were constantly being destroyed).

In the Pacific, the American use of the A-Bomb pretty much ended that part of the ware, preventing the need for a costly invasion (on both sides).

Saved the world? Not really. Germany's eventual defeat was pretty much assured, eventually, just from sheer attrition. However the US entrance into the war significantly shortened both the duration of the war, and the loss of life those additional years would have cost.

I think if it happened, the U.S. would try to do whatever it could in regards to procurement operations. Something about maintaining that technical edge whenever possible. It would be hard for either the nation or it's defense industry to stay out of such affairs.

Aliens would probably have the best luck making a deal with a neutral country that has some decent ability to defend itself, yet is also on good terms with NATO. Which likely means Sweden or Finland if not Switzerland. (I think Russia and China would be out, since much like the U.S., they would use any relations with aliens to push their own agenda.) Countries with a reputation of being neutral seem like they'd be the most diplomatic when it comes to political affairs, and would already have the means to not bow under economic or military pressure.

Of course if they wanted a wildcard choice, they could go with a place like Japan which seems fairly homogenous from a cultural standpoint while still being very technically advanced. However considering certain treaties regarding Japan, such choice seems like it would still be hedging a bet with the U.S. and it's politics.

Some other countries which don't have much of any industry or military would likely succumb to economic pressure, so in their case - aliens may as well have landed in the U.S., Russia, or China.

Just my thoughts on it, coming from the U.S. side.

The Americans might get super jealous if it was good aliens landed some where else. It be like not us. If they were hostile, then I would be glad and buy some time to find a place to hide.

Yeah what if the aliens were like sexy 6 feet tall danish chicks with boob jobs? Every country in the world would be truing to invade to "liberate" the country where the aliens landed. Except perhaps Denmark

I reckon that the aliens are most likely to land and visit some out of the way tribe in Africa or in SOuth America, like they did in the past. I mean think about it, you're in your little saucer wobbling above the earth and thousands of years before you have visited them and they were nice, you were treated well, so you decide to go back.

Whooah... the tribe back then wasn't like it is now. Think of landing in Egypt or somewhere like that. Thousands of years ago they built huge temples and pyramids in your name and now they are more likely to point tanks and machine guns at you.

Nah, you'll 'wind em up' like Clarke Griswald and head out to the countryside where a nice little tribe might now be earing coca-cola t-shirts but at least they still remember their stories of how visitors came from the sky and how friendly they were. You'll land there and start the world new order from there. Make the folks come to you, not the other way around.
