How exactly do people think things are gonna change? If they ended the Federal Reserve...do they have another system to replace it? Ron Paul SEEMS like a great alternative, for the current disaster...but he would be more suited, for America, about 100 years ago. We live in a DIFFERENT world...Ladies and Gentlemen. The way of living THEN, is faaaaaaar from being the way of living NOW.

Think about it like this: in the New World Order...America is no longer "needed"; especially when China is manufacturing most, if not all, of today's products.

To me, the OWS movement....COULD BE the beginning of the end, of a once great nation. Without a tested system in place, Americans are gonna have a long road ahead. Here's the crazy part...they've got the American people so wrapped up, in the charade of fear, they're too scared to find a better way of living, elsewhere. Well, then again, that depends on what your definition of "living" is!

That's just because most people with an IQ above 15 don't consider AMERICANS demanding a redress of grievances to be a bad thing.

The ultra-rich 1% take home 20% of the nations wealth (up from 10% just 36 years ago). They also own or control 40% of the GDP, but pay only 15% taxes -- the lowest percentage in history. There is too much concentrated wealth at the top, where the rules are made, and the game is rigged in favor of those who can afford to buy a congressman.

maybe its getting late, or its just me.......................but what I am reading is..........we dont need regulations, they are what caused the madoffs, etc. they are also the cause of junk bonds, and everything else I listed???

so, your suggesting we have less regulation, and just trust the madoffs, etc. to do the right thing, and we never would of had junk bonds, speculators if we just left them alone and trusted them??????????

have you ever heard the tale of letting the fox guard the hen house??? seriously!!!!!

perhaps this practice would work in our prisons also............I mean they know they are in for misbehaving, if we just leave them alone they will police themselves, and then of course they will return to society to become productive citizens, maybe in the totally unregulated securities market. LOL LOL

First off, thanks OP for telling us what you saw in a balanced, objective way. It took guts or at least determination to decide for yourself. I found your experience very interesting. I also don't think you can shoebox these people with one "label".

Horus, your remark:

Also, I've just seen footage of rioting protesters in Rome, and I am certain it is on it's way here in the States too.

fails to mention that Berlusconi’s ‘Zombie government’ just weaseled it's way out of a non-confidence motion:

Floundering in a cloud of corruption and sleaze, surrounded by accusations of coc aine-fuelled sex scandals, perjury, perverting the course of justice, contacts with organized crime and tax evasion, Silvio Berlusconi nevertheless survived a vote of non-confidence in Italy’s parliament Friday.

news.nationalpost.com...

Maybe that's why Romans where so upset you think? This non-confidence motion does not get mentioned much by the MSM either, only the "violent protestors in Rome" part.

These are the leaders you want us to look up to?

Well man they have been legislating morality for decades now so what's changed from all of it?

Absolutely Nothing.

well said, and I commend you for teaching your son how the world really works.............................but, do you believe that every child is prepared at exactly the same age??

No, that is the beauty of individualism. I believe parents have a responsibility to begin preparing their children at birth, and to patiently keep preparing them until they are prepared.

why would you believe that every person has the exact same opportunity?

I never said anyone has the exact same opportunity. What I am saying is that opportunity abounds, and that everyone paying attention has moments of opportunity to practice carpe diem.

When opportunity knocks, it doesn't serve anyone to be out in the back yard lamenting your woes.

just a opinion...............maybe that cold cruel world is because for so many generations we have been what about me, me, me........................maybe its time to consider others, along with ourselves??

Here is a maxim I live by, and teach my boy, and anyone else who will listen:

Whenever you expand, (spiritually), the physical universe will do everything it can to convince you to contract.

This maxim offers me great comfort. My life is filled with confrontations between I and a claustrophobic physical universe that is as uncaring and as cold as any thing one can imagine. The claustrophobia can be suffocating, and my heart will begin to pound and I will sweat and start to panic. Then I will realize that this is only happening because I am expanding.

The only way out is the way through.

The word "selfishness" is generally defined as: a chief concern for ones own interest, especially with disregard for others. Can you see the contradiction in this definition? Isn't it reasonably argued that regard for others is in your best interest?

I have been, the past few years, attempting to figure out how to manifest the realities I desire. This has meant much study, much discipline, and exercise. Last week, after a devastating August in terms of business, and just as the clients started rolling in, my computer crapped out on me. Doh! That was the last thing I needed.

Just before it crapped out, a long time client contacted me and told me he wanted to meet me the next day to discuss a gig. I had a choice. I could tell my client about my computer loss and suggest that I may not be able to meet his deadline, or I could accept the gig, and do what is necessary to meet that deadline.

Because the summer was so devastating, business wise, all I could afford to spend was $100 for a used computer. However, I put out as many life lines as I could in an effort to have a working computer soon enough to meet that deadline. I use a well known coffee house chain as my office. Not just for the coffee, free wifi, and electricity, but because it is a hub of networking.

Many people came to know my problem and most genuinely concerned for me and intent on helping. Some insisted they could fix my computer, others felt they could find me a decent computer cheap. Even so, by Friday I still hadn't a computer. It was tempting to panic, but I would look around and see all the people acting on my behalf and I realized, how could the Universe, or God if you will, just ignore this?

Friday night, someone came through and sold me the computer I am typing on right now. For $100! I pulled out that hundred dollar bill I had and tried to give it to him but he refused:

"No, no, no. Pay me later. I know how hard the summer has been on you. Just make payments. $25 dollar payments."

I offered him $25 now. He said:

"No, just get flush first, and a couple of months from now, when business is good again, just start making payments then."

My point? I didn't manifest that reality. We did. Not he and I, but a whole bunch of people intent on fixing my problem manifested that reality. Do you understand?

I can understand your frustration if you truly believe what you just wrote...............my belief is pretty much as yours, with the exception, that I beleive that the universe will give me whatever I truly desire, as long as I dont let the claustrophobic, suffocating, sweating, panic that is only in my head, take over.

I understand exactly, but this statement contradicts what you posted above.............is the universe against you? or did it come together to get you that computer with no money down.

I don't see how it can be both.

The physical universe is not The Universe. It is only a part of The Universe.

There's no such thing as liberal or conservative within the OWS movement.

If you want Free Education, Free this and Free that then yes there's definitely some partisanship in the OWS.

The physical universe is neither for or against anything. It is what it is, and will get agitated when non physicality pushes through it.

We are truly getting way off topic. Perhaps this topic deserves its own thread.

I still don't know. I will need to visit for myself, but no OWS near me.

Times are speeding up, one second I'm here, the next I am there. I'm just hoping one of these times I end up home. The world has a different headliner every week. I'm riding a wave of uncertainty, where will I go, where will I land? I'm enjoying the ride, but nothing beats the still water of an oasis.

Keep your head above the water my friends

You obviously are very ignorant of history. Before we had regulation life was brutal for most people- they worked 15 hours a day 6 days a week for pennies and usually died by the age of 60. Only after we got "big government" did we get a prosperous middle class and the wealthiest country in history with the highest standard of living. That was due to silly morals like safety standards, minimum wage, anti discrimination laws, etc.

"Corporate socialism is upheld by both the right and the left"

But you only blame the left, how convenient.

"people who aspire to collectivist ideologies are dangerous"

Like Neocons and other people who believe in American exceptionalism? How about Christianity, or the military?

"collectivism, when put into practice, murders millions"

Capitalism kills countless people through wars, resource depletion, pollution, and supporting corrupt regimes.

"History is my guide"

Apparently not.

Careful what you wish for... You may not like it.

Everyone who voted for "change" can tell you how well that has worked out for them.

I agree with you here. I had a horrific thought this morning, since these demonstrations are happening all over the world, and people do not seem to have a set plan for what sort of changes they want to see as an outcome of these protests. It's a varying laundry list of demands, some reasonable and some ridiculous.

I see this heading us all towards a one world currency. If people don't like the fact that there is some overloard to the situation as it is, just wait until that happens.

Odd really, considering all the anti "New World Order," threads there are on ATS....that people are outright screaming for it to happen, right here on ATS, it's own members!

TPTW did not really wish for a world mass consciousness focused on breaking the Fed and the corrupt financial system. What they want is for the people to remain ignorant of what they are doing so that they can carry on their plan for NWO. Unfortunately, their plan was hijacked by the people who are suddenly awakening to the truth that they have been deceived by TPTW. So do not be afraid of the future. Instead, be joyful that the people are waking up. Good times is coming soon.

No, I have not. I have stood up for the rights of others against the cops and WON.

You may be right. but supporting a movement that is, to me, obviously being co-opted by leftist anti-American organizations and people, is simply not something i can do.
Someone can be the biggest patriot in the world and be a socialist. The two are hardly mutually exclusive. The fact that you think they are just means you bought into the corporate and conservative propaganda.
