certain zones of occupy wall st cornered off as "arrest pens" for police to move in and do their dirty deed

apparently a kid was arrested too..

i dont know, but to me the underlying problem is most of these sheeple aren't upset with 'WALL ST', they are throwing a tantrum and just one step away from getting violent and spawning riots, cuz they can't take out any more credit on their maxed-out credit cards to finance their consumerist mtv-steered lifestyles. i think in the end, if the escalates without mediation, we're going to see all the ugly of the people come out at all the ugly of the police, and its gonna be one CONTAGIOUS mess from one city to next throughout our police state on lockdown.

I'm all for these protests and despite my rampant drunken trolling spree a few nights ago am concerned for the safety of the protesters. I am a little worried that things are going to end up worse than the riots we saw in the UK.

I think it is very important for the protesters to keep themselves from turning violent, and to actually listen to the police when told to move etc. I also think it will be very important for the police to treat the protesters with the respect they deserve as American citizens.

What needs to happen is...

When one of these cops starts in on a protester, I think 100 of the protesters should bum rush that cop and show him what time it is.

Why isn't occupy wall street bring questioned?

^ i for one i am glad to see some sympathy and genuine concern for the protestors. i am from NYC and currently been here all summer visiting my folks and bro fighting cancer, and go back to my own home out of the state tomorrow, as work needs me back by monday.

im worried for my family and for everyone here, as the atmosphere here is getting more dog eat dog than it already was even 10yrs ago. the situation with illegals, crowding, filth, corruption, drugs, crime, and failing infrastructure overall just adds up to one hot mess. most of young folks are out of jobs for one reason or another and make money illegally somehow. theres good thinks about nyc and always been, but history shows nyc is used to 'set an example' by the powers that be 10 yrs ago and it seems on this decade anniversary they are gonna make a new new york spectacle again. sooner or later, shock and awe.

I think you have a very bad understanding of how the World works if you think that's a god idea. That kind of thing is going to get people shot. I think mutual respect is a better bet.

I am intrigued.

Can you explain why it is important to NOT turn violent? At some point, there must be violence to trigger the event

What people are forgetting is that there are more protesters than cops.

We all remember what happened in LA back in the day when the cops were outnumbered.

They ran.

You REALLY think this is about people not wanting to work anymore?

Do you not realize that one of the main points of this protest is about corporations TAKING JOBS FROM AMERICANS AND SENDING THEM OVERSEAS?

THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF THE DRIBBLE YOU ARE SPEWING! Do you honestly not realize that? Do a little research before you "stereotype".

As far as I'm concerned, these people are working their asses off to ensure that all Americans get back their right to make a living.

Im sure only a small portion of these protesters actually understand why they are out there, most are probably just looters tryin to exploit the situation and cause havoc,or just people lookin for their 15 minutes of fame,it is new york after all. Its a sad day in our country when people get beaten and arrested for wagging their fingers at the crooked bastards in charge.

Why does violence need to happen to spur on change? Because that's how it's always been in the past?

What part of New York do you live in????

I've been here almost thirty years. If you think NY is a hot mess now, whew that's pretty crazy. I've lived all over this town and I think it's plateaued for a few years, but NY is one of the safest cities in the world at the moment.

Try Detroit or Atlanta or Albany or Trenton.

Being 23 and selfmade, I know and have seen the american work ethic diminish into nothing. Take a peek at these "protestors." They are my age and literally are against the system. They are not asking what they can do for their government but are just grabbing for more. Talk about greed, they only need to look in there mirror.

By the way, I personally flew out to NYC last week to see this so called revolution and spoke with them. Do you truly believe the guy in the front was not self proclaimed socialist, guess again.

And a horrible amount of violence looting and destruction occurred. Are you suggesting that is good for this country?

east new york

i dont live here no more, im visiting my brother who was shot during a driveby and during the surgery they found a tumor in the shattered bone, cancer. so its a double-wammy for him getting around in a wheel chair because of very crowded streets and relatively RUDE, dangerous youth.

Not sure since thats all I have been shown.
I sincerely want to hear your opinion on how change at a mass scale can happen without it

The point i was trying to make is that the PoPo is outnumbered.

Sure it was F'ed up when they started ganking random people.

But can you see the power in the numbers they have in NYC?

You got me laaaaaaaaaughin'. So, this is about PEOPLE dictating what other business owners decide to do with their own business? Are you telling me, that corporations don't have the right to take their businesses elsewhere....for the sake of THEIR business? Apparently, YOU don't have a business....nor do you know what it takes to run one.

Newsflash: business owners have to do what's best for their business....NOT YOURS! It's nothing personal...it's just business! The real problem is this: people have been FOOLISH with their lives, and now....it's biting them in the ass!!! Perhaps people should stop blaming OTHERS for their woe's. Corporations don't have to stay in a place, that is SUCKING THEM DRY. Face it.....the rest of the people in this world...work for pennies on the dollar, and put in 16 hour days...while Americans sit on their FAT LAZY ASSES and do nothing...while making tons of money.

Sounds to me...like the scales are being balanced. The reason why these corporations have left...is because Americans are way too expensive and demanding to keep. They actually sue their employer because they got 29 minutes for lunch...and not a full 30....like the law says. They use ANY excuse to make a quick buck. Now, you tell me....who's right and who's wrong?!
