That happened once between the Aussies and Germans on a section of the the western front in WW1 on a christmas day. Both sides just didn't fight and swapped ciggaretts and had a chat. No one died for a day.
Is that for real? And the next day they just picked up their guns and started killing each other again?

Yes, that is for real.

It doesn't even make sense... Wouldn't you just think to yourself "this is way better than worrying about getting shot and left to die in this trench".. Christmas shouldn't be the reason for ending our ways, common interest and logic should.

She is absolutely dead right, and there is no controversy at all.
AnyOne supporting 'our troops' supports the murder of millions upon millions of
innocent children, women and men in the last 50 years of u.s. aggression.
And All For Drugs and Oil.

I would like to note that, the veterans DESERVE to to treated like human beings. Seeing them homeless makes my heart break. I do not support their actions, but I do support their right to live.

damn dude, just because she doesn't support the troops, or the OP posting this means they are anti-American... if anything they are pro-American for being informed, and actually stating truths and exercising their right to free speech.

when did people start handing out cards of when to speak and when not to speak? what to talk about and not? dont we supposedly live in a free society? or not?

you my friend ARE more anti-American than the OP and that lady.

I was going to bring that up!!

I am glad somebody else knows about this.

It's THAT easy.... THAT EASY. THAT IS EASY, IS IT NOT??????

It's EASIER than pulling the actual trigger! It requires LESS thought and LESS physical activity to drop a gun than shoot one! Well... Gee, then this whole new world without the needless atrocities of men, women and children opens up, and we can start chatting and smoking!

On a serious note... It is THAT easy.

I know not many do. I've got a WW1 smoke holder my grandfather got when he swapped his smoke tin for one of the Germans. No war story of taken from a dead crout he just killed or from a POW. Just about the day they all got together and threw in their rations and had a meal and a chat and celebrated christmas.

Yep it's a true story. There's more. In WW2 in Tobruk the Aussies and Germans would stop fighting for two hours every day and allow the forward positions on both sides to be resupplied with water and pick up dead and wounded and if an Aussie streatcher team was carrying a wounded German and come across Germans carrying an Aussie they'd stop and swap. Also an ambulance could go out in the middle of battle and not be shot at and if a postion had more wounded than an ambulance could handle the fire would be redirected to somewhere else. both sides did it. The Germans would signal the end of the break with anti aircraft tracer rounds fired strait into the air and then a delay giving both sides time to get back to their postitions. I suppose when things get just so bad the people on the ground find a way to make life a little easier.

The U.S has homeless vets? Is that through mental health issues or lack of support? Sorry not meaning to bag the U.S but that's appalling. It shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Not like stalingrad with out of ammunition germans despertely dropping out of second story windows onto the russian troops with only bayonets .
Where 93000 men marched into russian captivity and only 3000 returned.
Where they built tanks in the barricady industrial plant and rolled them out the front door to fight around the back of the plant while the german army flung itself at the gates.
War is a racket.

True. And the Russians were never called to question by the U.N. It was about 6000 that didn't return. And the Germans continued to resist, in part because they believed the Soviets would execute any who surrendered

I lived in SoCal for two years. It never entered my head that the homless people I saw might be vets.

Many are.

We have many ignorant people that sit comfortably at home watching fox, yelling at people to support the troops, but can't even recognize a dying veteran on the street.

These are the problem people in America. No doubt. These are the sheeple.

Guess what is in Vietnam... Lot's of poppy... What is in Afghanistan? Lot's of poppy....

We send our troops to certain regions to secure the heroin production, and the CIA then relays (most) of the production back into the US via special forces, black ops, even civilian and public aircraft. I have a book called Drugging America, it is a must read. Anyways, after the troops have realized how horrible the job that they signed up for is, many of them turn to the (really, really PURE) heroin that is so readily available, when they return to the US, they are deemed addicts, and nobody wants to give a damn. It is a horrible, #ed up practice that needs to be punished as a war crime.
