I was just about to post this. A house blew up and some other houses around it were broken. A firemen said he heard the explosion 50 blocks away from where it happened. The neighbours are talking about a blueish ball of light falling from the sky. I can't help but feel this has something to do with the UARS satellite that conveniently fell on the ocean without hurting anyone.

Would have to be the crappiest luck..lol What are the odds that the thing would land on your house, out of the millions of square miles it had to choose from...

I wonder if the owner of the house made jokes about there it might land..

If it is, I can see a massive law suit against the owners of the satellite..lol

Well as it has been said here. I think this is certainly and interesting news article from south America. When i read the story i was a little surprised. It's enormously clear that a; the local people saw something fall from the sky and that b; whatever info was given to police this then correlated in an enormous search and swat of the area with radioactive suits being worn. Not something one would expect from a regular neighborhood explosion caused by gas canisters. Whilst the pictures don't look like that of a meteor or object hit from above, one still can't deny the facts.
This comes at the time that we are expecting something from elenin. It also comes from a time when we have enormous activity with sunspot 1302 - next 72hrs could be interesting. And further more earlier - 24/25th we had this strange story of UARS - which gained enormous public interest. Strangely with that story no one knows where it went. Not so surprising we say, Well i think that it is. It seems strange now looking back that so many people were a; tracking it online b; watching the sky for it. Based on the fact that i now understand the data that was available on all the tracking sites was effectively HOAX. The word HOAX strong but true. None of the data was real-time it was simulated. And thus most of the debate about why the satellites altitude went up/down was not due to it bouncing on the atmosphere but due to the logarithm of the program making the data. Which obviously has no code for falling satellites. Very strange indeed. More strange is that NASA's own satellite tracking site is down. Not surprising the 3rd party sites had HOAX data. Whilst this may not seem relevant i disagree -

Elenin - leonid = meteor storm
NASA UARS = satellite falls from sky
Argentina today = fire ball falls from sky

It's all more coincidental information that keeps leading to the same question what is going on?

A few pages back there were some other sources provided and now they are talking about beams and flashes of light. EDIT: The first one is translated though so "beam" may be a bad translation.

The neighbors, startled by the noise, came out of their homes and some of them maintained that in the moments before the explosion, they saw a beam of light shining in the sky, which gave rise to speculation in the fall of an element as the cause of the accident.

source: www.telam.com.ar...

Another resident who lives near the two houses destroyed in the blast said he had seen "a very strong flash followed by an enormous noise," an account that agrees with that of an employee at a nearby 24-hour store.

I'm not sure what a beam of light shining in the sky has to do with a falling object but an explosion does tend to have a flash involved. Depending on how far away you are from it, the "boom" will come after the flash.

The first article is actually in another language, so the word "beam" is possibly a translation error, I don't see how it fits in either, just more crap to muddy up the waters. As for the flash, I hadn't read anything about it until now, that's why I mentioned it.

Not sure if these links have been posted yet but here are some more English stories:

www.washingtonpost.com...
www.examiner.com...
www.gizmodo.com.au...

The examiner article is a little bit stupid. It's titled "Woman dies after UFO fireball falls from sky and causes explosion" but then they go onto say:

There are no confirmed photos of the fire ball at this time, and the cause of the explosion has not officially been determined.

Then they don't even mention they guy who claimed to take pictures of it. Even if he was detained for providing false testimony it seems worth mentioning.

It's not that comet. I know that the comet thingy idea is still flowing around. Since 27th something big will happen. I personally think world war 3 will start after 27th and I don't mean warfare like a full blown war. I am talking about final tensions before declaring war. on the 27th it be the start of positioning their armies in strategic areas. They will do drills practice and practice. This would be the offical start of the work yet not declared but the movements will be geared to get ready to attack. They been training for years for this... the U.S I mean. I don't know much about that comet crap. I myself do look up at the night stars and I see nothing. I don't see a comet or stars that are moving. Other then the normal movement where the earth is turning. I haven't see anything abnormal in the sky or even by the sun. I do have a telescope not that powerful but power full enough to see the craters on the moon in detail.

I myself haven't seen this so called comet. I am laughing seeing many here quickly yell comet!!!....lol chill out.

I am not saying that the comet dosen't exist or it's not possible. Just saying the events we are going threw are abnormal. In my home state we experienced weird weather. the storms was moving from east to west. Yet normally the weather or clouds only moves from west to east sometimes south west to north east etc... but overall it flows from west to east. Our local weather man said he never seen such things... and called it abnormal weather . He explained that mostly and normally all clouds in our area moves from west to east. Yet on that day they were moving from east to west.

Then we have so many earthquakes. Some say cali is next or due for a big earthquake. Yet, this comet or planet x comes out. I heard of planet x since 2004. Yet, I never seen it or heard it on the national news.

good posts OP ... I haven't seen this on the national news here in the U.S and I like to be kept informed on things around the world that are occurring.

I doubt anything will happen on the 27th. They say the comet will black out the sun for 3 days. I doubt it will happen. If it's true then by Now the U.S would inform us about it. Because it can do harm to our crops and other systems that we depend on. Even the president depends on these kinds of things. So they won't just go out hiding and say screw you all.

enough about me ranting on this stuff. This is very interesting please do a follow up if any new information comes to light.

Gas tanks can be undamaged and still be a gas leak, if all the gas escapes from the tank(s) and fills the structure, and the gas is ignited “BOOM” right? And leaving the tank(s) looking perfectly fine.

now you got shooting debris in the air which some people saw it, maybe first alerted by the sound of the explosion and followed by another crashing sound as the debris hit the ground or other things.

so Im at least thinking it could be a gas leak, but not saying it is. Just pointing out something's.

Except there were multiple tanks and none of them exploded. As others have also mentioned, there's virtually no sign of a fire, the lack of charring is suspicious. Even one of the firemen didn't believe it was caused by a gas leak.

If the explosion consumes all the escaped gas there will not be a fire.

So the no sign of fire part makes me think gas explosion, then there are the reports of a blue flash, which also sounds like a gas explosion...
I guess unless they find a big old rock underneath all that rubble, it was probably a gas explosion

We had something similar here last night, it was around 4:30 AM Local time, local being central Florida, on September 26, 2011. I was walking into a convenience store where a few of my friends work, one of them was outside sweeping as i was walking in, no sooner than i opened the door, we heard a sonic boom, we look in the direction that the sound came from and the sky begins glowing a purple-pink color we see something fall and then a bright flash, followed by what sounded like buildings collapsing! After i got what i needed i drove in the direction the object was sighted, i drove for miles but didn't see anything. I went home thinking something would have been in the paper the following day, but there was nothing, nothing in the paper, nothing on the internet...does anyone have any idea on what it could have been?

i'll try again
a blue light in the sky?
maybe it was this

chinese blue light

or this

turkish blue light

edit on 27/9/11 by SecretKnowledge because: found more blue lights

all of a sudden blue lights are in the sky. now im not saying this is what happened in argentina, there does'nt seem to be any craft debris, but its a bit of a coincidence that a blue light was seen in the sky just before the explosion.

I also live in Central Florida. I have witnessed on three separate occasions transformers on power poles explode. You first see extremely bright flashes of bright blue and white light, then usually flaming objects falling from above the site of the explosion. The first thing that comes to mind is how beautiful and eerie it is. Sometime after, is an extremely loud bang and buzzing sound. This is likely what you witnessed.

Does anybody have a website for reporting meteors? Something with googlemaps and points where people saw them? I think it would be handy for the people that have seen something and want to know if there are more.

These "unexplained" things people see that are falling from the sky, remind me of the movie Transformers
.

But on a more serious note.. if you check the link posted of people in the history being killed by a meteor, i think the list is going to get bigger.

Everyone says Elenin has disentegrated, but if it was as large as first reported then could it not have the possibility of raining smaller objects in various places? I just think that if it was headed our way and "broke up" then wouldn't we still see debris falling to Earth?

Look at what is going on with the earth's magnetic field, as well as it's poles. Something MORE than a comet, and much larger because of the degree of damaging effects being caused by this object. I honestly believe it is MORE than just a comet, a dwarf star IMO, because this is a Binary Star System and most BSSs have an elliptical orbiting brother star (or sister star if you want to say that stars have a gender lol). Anyway this is the reason I believe that this large object has too much potential of being our second sun (one that isn't so bright being that it's a dwarf star)

The thread has almost gone viral but did anyone mention "Ball Lightening Strike" by any chance? It is blue and often streaks across if seen from one direction or come straight down to those who are under it. And it will put a nice hole in the ground if it strikes full force on the ground, which is rare.
