Why is the majority of ATS users Socialists/Liberals/Communists/Marxists/Etc?

IMHO you see ridiculous threads from all spectrums. No creed, race or demographic has a monopoly on ridiculous. Re: Israel, I think phishy hit the nail on the head and drove it through the stud.

Correct me if I am wrong but you seem to define people who think Israel has far to much influence in our government and foreign policy as Socialists/Liberals/Communists/Marxists/Etc. That is certainly a strange definition. Conservative used to mean minding ones own business, no entangling alliances as the founders taught, No empire building, free trade, walk softly and carry a big stick, balanced budget/live within our means, non government intervention into markets etc. When did that get redefined as Socialists/Liberals/Communists/Marxists/Etc??? As opposed to endless undeclared wars, endless deficit spending and intervention, catering to special interest and mega corporations etc. attacks on and systematic and increasing violation of the bill of rights etc.

As you can see, and as I have experienced, it may be impossible to enter into a serious discussion on certain topics. There is, as you have pointed out, a degree of hatred that makes such a discussion very difficult.

You will find exaggerated claims, flaming passion, and an overwhelming desire to win, rather than explore. I would be curious to learn how you deal with it. You, or anyone else, can always send a U2U.

Quite often I will see a claim posted that appears to be ridiculous. I will then research it and learn that it is, in fact, a truckload of hooey. I often stop there having collected new knowledge. Sometimes I bring my research back to the forum and wait for either the insults, or for the original hooey defender to walk away from the argument.

Anyway, if anyone cares for a chat, I'm available. (And no, I'm no longer a government agent.)
