On the side where are the satelittes are liste UARS is not there to be selected. It was there until late last night.

Maybe reload (autoupdate) the TLE data files again.
The MAIN tab at the bottom, select SETUP
The TLE_UPDATER tab within that and then click on the globe icon at the right.

Worth a shot.

So for the predictions...

1. UARS_Reentry says about 9 hours to go. About 01:00 UTC September 24th

2. NASA says about 02:00 to 05:00 UTC

3. aerospace.org says 03:16 UTC ± 5 hours

Still a while to go yet, folks. Must be time to go back to bed.

Since we are all guessing where the UARS is going to land my best guess would have to be somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean...perhaps off the coast of NY.

From aerospace.org this picture represents the few orbits before (blue) and after (yellow) their best guess of 03:16 UTC.

North America is back in the danger zone.
South America and east Asia look to be in the clear.

It looks as if the USA has about 4 chances by september 24 of being impacted by it. This will begin at 9:29pm an every 90 minutes a new cycle will come around going through canada, to mexico, to usa. ( at serperate intervals.)

Showing it as over the central Pacific coming overland Chile soon, 177km height. Is this more accurate than the Y2O, infosatellites range?

EDIT: Heavens-above showing the same range so i'm guessing it is, going from the same variable output as that.

Funny thing here in Ireland. Two days ago a very large military helicopter flew in from the east over North county Dublin. The Irish army dont have helicopters this big. Here's a link to the fleet of choppers they have Irish Military .

This was an RAF chopper.

Then today on the news on Q102 radio they were reporting that the satellite was being tracked by Astronomy Ireland and the chairman was interviewed on the radio stating that they expected UARS to impact Ireland in the early hours of Saturday. They have a map tracking the satellite on the link.

Sky news has a report on their site and has an RAF Flight Lieutenant Mike Farrington stating they are monitoring UARS closely Sky News

So maybe i,m jumping to conclusions but it just piqued my curiosity, this small chain of events.
The arrival of a very large UK military chopper and the news i heard on the radio along with the Sky report.

This is the craft I and 3 other friends witnessed flying in to Ireland Merlin we are all certain this is the craft type.

I have also been tracking UARS on my iphone app and today it wont work.

Albert.

Not sure if this is connected to what you saw or anything to do with UARS but we had a really low flying 'something' (don't know if it was a small plane or a helicopter) flying over us just before 2am this morning. It was so noisy I went outside to have a look even though it was cloudy, could only see a red flashing light heading northeast, I'd guess if it was flying in a straight line it came from roughly Youghal, Co. Cork direction to fly over my house. Unusual as we rarely have anything flying over us at night, not that audible anyway.

As for UARS, really really hoping it crashes into my back garden (I use the term loosely - I'm cultivating weeds at the moment). Could really do with a garden makeover courtesy of NASA

Were right in the expected 'window' here in the UK, between midnight and 4am going by what NASA are saying. some 4 hours to go and a couple of passes between then, infact even during the window the UK has I believe around 2 or 3 passes going by the heavens-above prediction.
Weather looks to be 50/50 here but like last night i'm not holding my breath just yet on seeing anything.

Hello HM

Could well be something to do with it. David moore from Astronomy Ireland originally said they thought it might land (UARS) in a line from Galway to the South east! He was just on the news again earlier and said it looks more likely to hit the ground in the Dundalk area, thats if it does actually land in Ireland.

If thats the case, the craft you heard/saw, was travelling north east, it certainly would be on track for the Dundalk area!!!

Looks like you might have to get the spade out and start digging the weeds up yerself

Interesting!

Great link, thanks !

Heavens-above shows it passing overhead in my location around 3pm and then again around 9pm tonight.
I've got my camera batteries charged and am hoping to get a still shot or two of the little sucker before it makes its grand entrance into land or sea.
