Yeah, i asked if she knew about the news that nasa is building the worlds largest rocket, and it said is going to be done by 2021, which that news was simply in my news app on my phone, she said shes never heard of it. So...we need another caller because this lady is stupid lol

So what we actually have is a recommendation in a guidline for future flights over the moon. This would mean it's not policy and therefore representatives of NASA are unlikely to know about it unless they were authors of the "recommendation". So anyone questioning the integrity of the contact at NASA whom the OP phoned needs to chill big time and put that conspiracy chip on their shoulder away.

Then we have some idiot at a newspaper in India (not the US DUH!) who then re-quotes and spices this up to be "No fly zone to be enforced", like there would be no anti US bias by the journalist there DUH!!

This is yet another example of the mundane growing arms and legs. Then people with "I love every conspiracy with my soul" tattooed on their forehead jumping up and down with the usual anti NASA, everything is a lie, the US are tyrants etc etc etc. You know who you are and you have actually fallend for Indian media hype......time to get the embarrassed faces under cover!

Aye, "no fly zones" over the moon appeared to be nothing more than vicious rumor, presumably to stir up and deceive people for a few days -- why? Good on you OP for calling and asking. I'd searched their website, Space.com and a few other sources, no mention. And as people had pointed out the only articles were from non-legit websites. Even if this kind of thing did happen - you'd hope there would be a global meeting on it first and approval from the other space agencies of the world. But good job taking the time. I'd be wondering about this too.

I don't see any reason to suspect a trick on this one. It all fits.

Kudos OP for taking the initiative. It appears that girl was uninformed on this one.

I was wondering what a bag of 40 year old astronaut feces was worth on Ebay.

To think that the US and NASA will honor any treaty we have made with the rest of the world is ludacris. We have broken every treaty we ever signed. Recommendations become law. Moon dirt will be defended by violent actions.

Well done on calling NASA and getting 'some girl'.

What department did she work for? Probably the shill department as she seemed to know all about ATS!!

Maybe they are just worried that any private venture to the moon would expose their fake moon landing? That's why they have introduced a NFZ around the moon.

Good stuff,

You should call them back and ask them how to buy property on the moon.

Tim Lawrence a highly respected Apollogist, (the study of the Apollo Space program) said in a recent statement that NASA purposely & clearly never lay claim to the moon or any part of the lunar surface during the Apollo mission like the major landing sites, henceforth any "no fly zone" policy is illegal. They lost the opportunity when they had it in the 60's & early 70's during ongoing missions !!! In this case squatter's rights is not retroactive !

LOL, I am one of the librarians at NASA and yes, we've been getting a lot of questions about Elenin and the so-called "no fly zone."

Ha, I love how she even said "abovetopsecret".
I guess we have some hoaxers running around. Hmmm....very interesting.

Edit: Nevermind, I see the original thread was created around the 20th, and I found some articles on the internet dated on the 7th. So it didn't originate from ATS.

who knows either way but ya...job well done atleast calling them...seems like the most logical thing to do! i still think there will have to be some kind of no landing zone for private companies in the future so they dont ruin the "historical" site.

I called NASA, asking for the library.

The first guy i asked if it was true, because i read it somewhere online, he says uhhhhhh, please hold.. lol

I was starting to get worried i would get MIB at my door, but i holded, and a girl came on the line, i asked her and she has never heard of it, and she said the Senate would smack nasa on the head if they tried to do that.

I told her to google it and she said abovetopsecret? I said uhhh...no....lol

She said it was an internet hoax, so truth or not?

Can anyone link me an actual credible site for this news

Were you planning on flying by the moon? Seriously, as I assume you don't represent a country that is plannng to orbit the moon, what did you expect to be treated with?

I find it HILARIOUS the way they react to ATS members.

It's like we are a plague of truth that they just do not want to answer when we knock on their door.

Inquisitive minds want to know! Nice job on calling NASA op, gotta start somewhere!

or.... as a fairly long standing member I would say that such questions are a little bit silly - are you planning a moon fly by anytime soon? Oh, no, that would be a no wouldn't it? Do you not think their response is more an anti tin foil helmet one?
