they are chosen not just because they want to be...but it isnt just the bible that "chooses" them if it were id get the fairy tale argument...they have an oral tradition passed down for generations much like the native americans...it started from somewhere..its an oral tradition....it is not just like they read the book and decided "this sounds good i want to be a part of that"...they are born into it....and no you should not pitty them for their belief just be less of an asshole and be more open minded to their situation....because just like you say they have twisted things....clearly you can see that you are capable of twisting things as welll....chosen for a spiritual responsibility becomes....CHOSEN TO RUN THE WORLD....that is twisted and simple logic and frankly atheist or not....i think your above that

Do you know this game kids play in kindergarden? Where they sit in a circle and one person starts whispering something into the person left to him, and it goes around in a circle, and by the time it gets to the last person it's something completely different?

And that's just a few kids...now picture thousands of years and thousands of people...yeah, I'm sure, the message is still the same

i get what your saying...and it isnt a bad comparison....but lets be honest there is a difference between a bunch of 5 year olds in a circle who just hear things and people who have LIVED and practiced these traditions for generations...if it were just thoughts and ideas you could chalk it up to folklore traditions of living are quite hard to screw up because you are ALWAYS living it....and your parents were ALWAYS living it....so its a bit different....but you are an atheist my point is not to convince ou of god and therefore the legitimacy of religion just to get to respect it and not twist it...i could say the same thing to you if you are atheist...because atheism says there is no chance of god existing...but you can not prove that with anymore empirical evidence then god existing....and because you cannot prove something does not exist i cant understand atheism i much more understand agnosticism but i do respect atheism because its coming from a good place of intellectual integruity...

However the bible talks about this, God original "chosen" people who betrayed idolized other Gods and spat in his face. Now they have there country back yet its still divided most cant even live there because they dont follow there own teaching, the bible says this is Gods punishment. But they will have there years as promised the bible says which is his final rath. It could also be said that everything in the middle east can be traced back to Israel. The problem is history is usually written by the victors. Regardless of even that, there is no reason on this earth why Americans should be handing over their hard earned money to an 'ally' that does nothing but take while giving nothing in return. Stop the whole mess by ignoring it. Stop funding Israel. Dont even vote for a Palestinian state. Stop choosing sides. If Israel wants to start wars then they have the soldiers and even nukes to finish them. Nobody needs to defend Israel. And this whole idea that we need to stop Iran from getting a nuke just blows my mind. Iran has absolutely no way of ever attacking the US with a nuke. They dont even have an air force. So basically we need to send more of OUR troops and more of OUR money over to Iran to prevent them from getting a nuke to PROTECT Israel? I dont know about you, but Im sick of America being used as a puppet to fight Israeli war. It is not our job to play world police!
