Why i love Jesus. Why Jesus is love.

I'm not entirely sure how to start this thread, only that it needs starting, because when I look at the topics in this forum and their content, I cannot help but come away from the experience feeling spiritually drained, and I'll bet that's a sentiment shared by BOTH believers and non-believers alike!

And so, I'd like this thread to be different somehow, perhaps by the consideration of a new, wholly non-coercive approach, which speaks only from the unique, personal spiritual experience of the believer or knower of Jesus Christ as the risen Lord and light of life, and one which is capable of modelling and extending the invitation that is Christianity, something which we cannot deny, given its very nature as a free gift of incalculable value (its too good to keep to ourselves) - in an all-inclusive manner ie: offered or made available in the very same spirit of love and kindness and generosity, from which it was first given us, some of whom were at one time hardened sceptics even rebels with an axe to grind (like yours truly).

And so, to kick things off, and with the hope of setting up the new "frame", I would like to share a post I made, while stating clearly, here and now, that I love Jesus because Jesus is Love itself, and Life itself. What these kinds of statements mean, we can explore from personal experience, as the thread progresses.

I never argue about Jesus with anyone.

I was an atheist for thirty years.

I would really like to have back some of the stuff I said.

but then again we are the 'heathens' and 'evil doers' even though we've never committed genocide or war or anything else along those lines all in the name of jesus and god...

not to be mean or anything...because i frankly dont care what your spiritual beliefs are as long as you are happy with it, but ats should be about discussing conspiracies, aliens, government corruption, the world as whole, opposed to an endless number of threads relating to this jesus character

jesus promised to end evil and all that stuff....odin promised to remove ice giants...i dont see many ice giants around

You walked in darkness but you saw the light, no better testimony is needed than that brother, i'm glad Jesus was able to rescue you because the time is near when we leave this world and there are those who refuse to forsake the darkness for the light.

No one is telling you "were to go" but I would like to point out that you are neither compelled to read, or to participate.

I love you also though, so I must honor your freedom . I would however appreciate the same respect and freedom in turn since I am also free to express my own perspectives, and who knows what might be of value or not in another person's eyes, that too is up to them, to evaluate for themselves what's of value or not. Other people's viewpoints are really none of our business, it's for them and them alone to decide, for themselves, based on their own unique personal experience or POV.

It is easy to just ignore them, as for these type of conversations, there is a assigned area for them here at ATS so the TPTB here must think they are important enough to warrant a place here.

I think its great that you have faith..and believe in love..

I struggle with faith so much, because I have a lot of questions... that I can't seem to find good answers for.

Even though I struggle with these questions... I respect those that choose to have faith in a loving God, and try to live their lives as best they can, in accordance with what they believe to be the loving ways of God.

I think of Jesus as being very human while if I was to sit here and think about angels in heaven or something I might imagine something going on that is somewhat alien and would come off as being cold if it were from someone we might meet in our life. I know they really aren't that way when you actually meet an angel in person, but these cherubim and such, up in the clouds and surveying the earth and such things don't see friendly, exactly.
If an angel was standing in front of you and talking to you and touching you, you would have a completely different take on them and they would be overflowing in emotion and of the deepest form, and caring and wishing goodness and happiness for you. Even these angels, no matter how wonderful and loving they seem, after they are gone and you think about it, you wonder what they really are and if they just seem that way for a purpose so we accept them. Jesus, the way I think of him is different because we can rest assured that whatever he may seem to be, is exactly what his true nature is and we have a way of knowing him for sure as if he was our closest brother who we have known so closely forever.

I don't think all Christians believe that Raelsatu...

There are a lot of really good people who are Christians.. and would never steal from you.. would never lie to you ..and would help you if they saw you laying on the street..while others may not..

There are also a lot of good people who aren't Christians who would do the same.

I can understand your bitterness..because being told your going to hell..constantly, can get very irritating, and old fast.

Maybe someday Raelsatu..you will feel differently again... about Christ, and Christianity...and maybe not.

Whatever the case.. does it do any good to hate someones faith..even if you don't see it as truth?

Would it be better that they had no faith?.. and did terrible things to others ?.. without a care or worry for who they hurt?
