I had a dream once that I was flying (in an aeroplane) over the trenches in WW1. The dream was a long time ago but I can remember shooting down english planes during dogfights.

What does flying in a dream symbolize? I think can remember that it usually occurs when someone is at peace with themselves maybe?

Any dream analysts out there
?

ive hadnt had any flying dreams in awhile. the last one i had i wasnt really flying...gravity seemed to be absent sort of. i remember running and then taking long jumping strides...as i jumped i flew a really great distance.
the dream before that, i didnt have any control when i was flying. gravity just seemed to stop working around me and i was floating up around the tree tops. it was pretty scary.

ive tried telling myself before i go to sleep that i will have a flying dream, but it hasnt worked yet

When I fly in my dreams, I just have to leap, sort of. I leap up and float around, stearing with my arms and legs as if I'm swimming, lol. I can fly just great until someone in my dream is around to witness it. Then I can't do it at all anymore. It works until I try to show them what I can do.

when i was younger (bout 9 i think - 20 now), i had this really vivid dream that has always stuck in my mind, i was floating/flying crossed legged down my stairway at home in my pjyamas eating a sugared shortbread biscuit, all of the landing and stairway was a purpleish colour and a sat on the chest at the bottom of the stairs that was there at the time...funny thing was my mum came into my room to wake me up and she found me kneeling on a book case with both arms spead out in like a delta plane craft shape asleep smiling. fooked up kid i suppose!

Usually when I lucid dream I prefer to fly as a dragon. It's probably one of my favorite dream types to be in.

I've always been told those that fly in their dreams are looking for an escape. I don't buy it. I've been flying in my dreams for years. In good times and in bad.

Anyways, I've only been able to fly like Superman onces in my dreams. Man did I haul ass. I flew really close to the water and went really fast so there was this big ass wake behind me. Then I would sky rocket straight up in the air. But as I said, I've only dreamed like this once.

Every other time I dream it's basically the same concept. At some point in what seems like a normal dream I will feel like I am really light. My toes almost barely touch the ground but I'm still grounded and can feel normal physics. At some point I sort skip a bit, and hop slightly into the air. I'll float for a second and then feel like I'm begining to come back to the ground again. However, if I push down with my arms on the sides of my body I can lift up and go higher. This is more like pushing down when you get up from a seat than flapping your arms.

Anyway, once I reach a certain height, usually what feels like 30 feet or so, sometimes higher, I can sort of just float in whatever direction I want. I never get that rush or excitement that I did when I could move like Superman, it just sort of feels normal. I can float around, move where I want to, or return to the ground.

On a few rare occasions I will leap into the air without the arm push thing. This is in dreams where I'm threatened or being on foot will not accomplish what I need to do.

I've never had anyone in my dream really take note of me flying. No one seems to notice.

The Big O

Whenever I FLY in my dreams...LMAO, I have to flap my arms and cup my hands in such a way as to catch air...lol.....I really have to get a certain momentum going to be able to lift off.
Once I am in the air its not so hard to maintain my altitude by flapping my arms......but sometimes I can be grounded by a strong downward draft.

This is in no way to be considered LUCID DREAMING...or an OOBE...this is just the way I FLY in my sleeping dreams. I like to go with the flow in these dreams and choose not to interfere by becoming lucid.....when lucid I cant fly lol.......and OOBE, wel.....thats NOT dreaming in any sense of the word.

Originally posted by OddA lot of the time, I can levitate in my dreams... it's not really a conscious thing, like, I'll be walking along and thinking, and then kinda realize that my feet aren't touching the ground, and I'm just sort of drifting along.

I have that too. Sometimes it's just levitating one or two feet above ground (those who remember "The Gentlemen" in an episode of Buffy the vampire Slayer called "Hush" will know what Odd and I mean) and sometimes I can actually levitate over telephone posts and wires, as well as buildings.

Very liberating feeling indeed!

for me i kind of wave my arms and take off, In my dreams i usually like to show off to other ppl. Also sometimes I can do it by highstepping, or running up a wall until flight is achieved. I can control most of my dreams, sometimes though my flying dreams i cant control and usualy try so hard i end up waking up during them.

Flap flap flap and fly dreams

That's how I've always done it too. It's like swimming. Air is waterlike in the dream. And can be pushed around for propullsion. It's really strange when you "climb" it. (Hard to explain).

Has anyone ever left the atmosphere?
The view is incredible, but you have to hold your breathe.

Comrade Smith, you need to exercise your brain. I sense you have some issues at home, maybe family problems. I see lots of anger coming from somewhere around you. You have to find a way to deal with these issues first. Try reading "fantasy" books or Sci Fi, try and move your "mind" to a more interesting place that is filled with possibilities.

I think you are a good drawer, but you get frustrated because things you draw seem to be out of perspective, they just dont look right to you. Try focusing on another subject matter. If you are drawing cartoon type heros, try drawing "real life" scenes from memory. Try painting nature scenes instead of monsters and villians.

Your physical "prison" can be broken by allowing your mind to experience freedom that your physical body can not.

Then you will dream

Hello blue collar

I did once... but it was not a dream, I was awake. I believe it was astral projection. I was seeing from a birds eye, with all senses (except speech).
I believe this was a bird of prey. It was powerful and swift.

I know this sounds strange... it was as though this bird's spirit and my spirit was one.... a very unique experience I will never forget.

I love the flying dreams, they are the best. Sometimes I have no control over them and it's like the opposite of falling, I just start falling upwards and try to hold onto something to keep me from falling up. Other times I realise that I'm dreaming and remember that the laws of physics have no bearing and I just take off like superman and fly at awesome speed. Other times I have these weird basketball dreams where I can do amazing slam dunks, but once again sometimes I go to jump to make the jam, but keep on going up and up until I'm pressed against the ceiling. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes after waking from flying dreams, the first thing I see on TV is something to do with flying, and I wonder if I dreamt it, because I saw it afterwards...if that makes any sense. But one thing is for sure, I will always be amazed how realistic the dream-graphics are, like more SFX than SFX or CGI's themselves.

I often do little flying hops and the like to get around in my dreams, but I don't do very much all out flying anymore. When I was young I would have very vivid flying dreams, all the time. But my method of flying was pretty weird:

I would take a small hop upward and land ... several inches (or millimeters off the ground). Figuring that I didn't get anywhere, I'd try again. And again, until eventually I was about a foot off the ground.

At this point I realized that I could fly again and I took another jump. I was able to jump-fly at much larger distances (30 feet, etc). In this manner of bounding along jump trajectories, I was able to fly. As my trajectory became straighter I could guide my direction and didn't need to jump anymore.

i fly anytime i want to.....i am also totally invincible with any powers i can imagine......everyone is capable of this.....it's just a matter of self-awareness and realizing it is a only a dream....the possibilities are endless....i can even wake myself up by opening my physical eyes while still dreaming.....it's great for when you don't like the way the dream is going :-)
