I haven't been following the UARS satellite thread very closely...could this be it?

losangeles.cbslocal.com...

Sounds like it was pretty large. I've seen meteors here in L.A.. green ones that streak throught the sky for 10 seconds and then dissapear. They happen, but would love to see a video of this.

I live in Phoenix and was outside for about 45 minutes before your put up this post.

I live close to the airport and didn't see anything. It's a beautiful night, and the moon is spectacular.

Likewise, from the reports it seems like it may have been rather large...but from my reading about meteors on this site that is usually due to the burn-off and not the actual size of the object. I was wondering if it was the UARS but the OP states late Sept. early Oct...too soon according to that.

6 Ton UARS NASA Satellite to Plummet Earth - Late September - Early October (Cover-up?)

Yeah, I was going to say this pretty much word for word (except I'm eastern U.S.) I've never really thought enough about it to post or call the news. I mean I may tell a friend or something, and they are super exciting when you see one, but still they happen. I've seen several green fireballs that last for several seconds driving down U.S. 60 late at night.

The news here (SW Riverside County) is saying it was a large blue-green meteor trailing orange sparks and eyewitness reports put it coming to earth between Palm Springs and Lake Havasu. That would make it a meteorite.

Just read a thread that was talking about reports of lights in Orange County.

That's because it's coming your direction any minute. Go back outside!

More than one, then. They're reporting it in Vegas too. Sounds like the same type I saw a few years ago in southern Arkansas.

It was seen in Southern California, Arizona and Nevada.

Who knows what it could be. Meteor? For all we know they shot down secret Russian spacecraft or destroyed incoming intercontinental ballistic Nuclear Missile coming from orbit aimed at the states for and exercise but space rock will do.

Was there not some sort of satellite that was to come back down this week and re enter our planet? Could it have been that satellite?
