I *think* that's what the OP was trying to say, is that there are a LOT of us lurking who potentially have much to offer to the discussion or who want to hear what others may have to say...but the general disrespect makes it not worth the effort. There are many people reading who are turned off from the discussion because of the harshness being shown.

If there is a desire to have people with more common sense, or who are more respectful then it has to be shown here. The more harsh, condescending posts that show then the more of those type of people will want to respond because the rest of us would rather just be quiet than bother at all. Is that making sense?

The thing about all this is that it's open.It's free.
So ,when you post something,you are basically opening up your soul to others to examine and criticize.
Some forums on here are more open to things then others.Choose wisely.Research is your friend in space,technology and such forums.But there are other avenues to use to get your message across here.
My main message here is choose wisely!Check yourself!There are theorists and pseudo scientists on here, and those who pretend or think they are,much like myself,so choose what side you want to represent.
Not being harsh in any way,just being honest and up front.

I love how the OP has neatly tied "Any Conspiracy" such as the JFK Assassination, to Elenin/2012 - when this is clearly about attacks on the Elenin/2012 threads specifically.

The fact of the matter is people are attacking these threads because no matter how many times they have been respectfully debunked, they just keep coming back, and patients is lost.

IMO, these people shouldn't be 'blamed' for your silence OP, they should be commended. Sometimes it takes a little brashness to clear the air of stupid - and shame on the OP for suggesting we should allow ignorance to blossom freely on a site which aims to deny it.

You claim that by discouraging those whom would post false and fantastical theories with no basis in reality is hurting our ability to shed light on truth? Really? (insert facepalm)

That's a two way street friend, those claiming extraordinary things require evidence. i agree, the trolling isn't helpful, but again, it's a two way street. For every poster who says "elenin aligned with my subaru and now it does 600mph" there are at least 3 posts from the other side along the lines of "shut up you are a sheep"

Plenty of us debunk these claims with evidence, and are met with harassment and then claims of harassment by us against them. Seriously, this happened to me, in a thread on some random conspiracy I posted information, facts mind you not opinion, and disproved whatever the theory was, and was informed that posting contrary (factual) information is a form of ridicule.

Lets remember something, this site isn't here to post your theory and have everyone agree with you. It's a debate forum, if you don't want opposing views, don't post here.

BOTH sides need to be more polite. Proving your theory wrong isn't "putting it down". And the fact remains when it comes to elenin, it's all complete crap and we've posted the FACTUAL evidence in every damn thread, but it is ignored because we work for the reptilian NASA andromedan time travelling witch doctors.

and i'm not saying that we necessarily have even the slightest inkling of how the universe really works

Unfortunately, not everyone has a thick skin like you. I'm sure people thought Einstein or Nikola Tesla were crazy with their theories, but they persevered and brought us the greatest scientific discoveries of man kind.

My point is, not every has "thick skin". Why should we put down someone expressing an idea on this forum? ANY idea. By doing that, we are no better than "TPTB" that try and keep us blind our whole life.

As I posted before, I use Elenin as an exampled because its so prevalent in our forums right now. I get annoyed when I see 2938298329 posts as well, factual or not, however, THIS post is about ANY conspiracy/scientific/off the wall theory or post that anyone posts. There's always that guy that posts a snide one liner, sarcastic comment, underhandedly calling the person a moron.

This is what I find unacceptable in a forum where we should allow open conversation, without the fear of being ridiculed. You honestly think its wrong for someone to post their honest beliefs, with their facts, that our moon is made of cheese? Serious question here.

It has nothing to do with you "standing down" or "defending your belief". It has to do with having respect for people who throw ridiculous ideas out there. Who have the balls to post their theories and beliefs, no matter how ludicrous it is. Who are we to call them idiots in a one lined response?

If you have something to argue, argue it factually. If you dont, keep your one lined, sarcastic, psychologically damaging comments to yourself. This person has stepped out of their shell to express something that is not of a social norm, we should allow that. Thats our goal in this community, is it not? To allow freedom to express, and to deny ignorance?

The example I give is on a very radical scale because I say they can post anything insane, but it still holds true.

P.S. Not that I'm jumping on the Elenin band wagon, but I'm sorry, you dont know anything about Elenin. None of us do. You know what you are told by NASA, you know what you think you see from your home made telescope. That's all you know. How can you make such a statement "Elenin is no threat", when you have nothing but other people's proof? Nothing first hand? You don't know.

You're missing the point here. Whether you believe it or not, your comments on someones thread, may have an impact on the OP. Whether they realize it or not, your one lined sarcastic comment that puts down their belief system, whether true or not, will affect their probability of posting again.

Lol you obviously haven't read most of what I post. Well, I am probably speaking for myself.. but I don't want creativity. I want reasonable doubt, or suspicion.. after all this is a conspiracy site, not a fantasy star wars site. I do, in a way, see what you're getting at.. but I think there's a fine line between creativity and conspiracy.

Very simply put:

When you express your idea with what you think is evidence, and some troll comes along and gives a rude one liner, calling you a moron (which I see several times, daily, on this forum).

All of a sudden, without entering an argument and two sides presenting evidence, you now feel like your idea was stupid. Where it was, or it wasn't, you're less likely to go "out there" and post what you think to be true. You are silenced, because someone didn't have the common decency to either keep their mouth shut because they have no evidence, or present some in a civil way.

I think we all forget that there is someone else on the other side of these monitors when we reply to threads. Treat people and radical posts such as "ELENIN IS NIBIRU" or "THE MOON IS MADE OF CHEESE I HAVE PROOF" with some respect. Either rebutt with evidence, post your own beliefs in a civil way, or don't post at all. You have no right to stifle someones imagination or creativity. "TPTB" have done that to us enough.
