He said that hospitals have gotten away from the practice of accepting people without insurance because all-around healthcare costs have gone through the roof. With special licensing, lack of competition, inflation, and malpractice, cost of medicine and the pharmaceutical industry, and restrictions on alternative medicine. Also churches used to take care of people who had no insurance.

If we were to restore this economy back to its full potential not only would more people be able to afford care and medicine, but there would also be less of an incentive for hospitals to turn people away because costs will be down. Also we could have public health clinics set up for the uninsured. Not everything is end-all be all, and you are largely responsible for taking care of yourself to the best of your ability, with what you have control over. The things you cannot control, obviously you will be given aid, and in a robust economy where healthcare prices are down, you can bet that we would find ways to take care of our poor, sick and dieing.

well, ok, so do we mandate the churches to pay for the coma guy? i think i might be behind that. churches don't pay any taxes.

if i were to get behind a candidate it would be paul. but i think it's fair to want a concrete answer instead of what he thinks should be.

I decided to watch the football game instead of the debate. I can catch a replay later or on the net so no biggie.

Sure is fun, though, reading this thread. ATS maybe many things but as a source of entertainment, it truly can be quite fun, at times. This is one of those times.

So Bachmann nailed Perry, huh? Sounds like It will be interesting viewing.

Wow is it so horrible that people *gasp* started taking personal responsibility more seriously?

You really don't get it do you?

I love personal responsibility.

I also love living in a society where we don't let people die in the streets if they are too poor or have made some bad decisions.

Call me crazy...but I'm proud we help people out.

That was Huntsman...a little zing for Perry calling Bernanke Treasonous.

He just kind of turned his own words around on him.

Definately not a great night for Perry.

This is probably the best debate so far for this election.

If Perry's poll numbers don't drop after this debate proves that the polls are rigged, he is getting hammered on all fronts!

AND WHERE IS RON PAUL!!!!!

and how far does your generosity reach? births? broken legs? the sniffles? or do you just cut the help at 'prevention of deaths'?

It is because the lawsuits, insurance and healthcare industry has ballooned its own prices, doctors can no longer 'help' people out of the kindness of their hearts.

You guys dont understand. First off, the 60s was not that long ago. And things weren't all that different. The only difference is the currency is massively inflated now and the healthcare system is devoid of competition, and all things healthcare are extremely expensive, the prices of drugs and what not have been rising on their own even without inflation. Once we fix the system, more people will have access. And there will be a safety net. I just told you there will be public health clinics. Are you guys deaf?

I kind of agree.

At this point, I see Perry dropping and Bachman getting a boost.

Not sure about Romney...he isn't shining, but he isn't getting harmed at all...I think he gets a small boost from Perry dropping.

I'd say Perry will drop some 5% and spread evenly with Paul and Romney, Bachmann will go up a few points, Paul will up a little and Romney will either be the same or go up a little.

I'm 100% fine with providing government paid for medical care for all of those.

I'm fine paying higher taxes to pay for it too.
