I have been watching USGS this morning and it seems like the area that had the 4.1 is quietening down. I find it so interesting that we had a earthquake in TN & AR plus a nice jolt in CA all on the 35 degree line, then a few hours later a shake in Japan area on the same latitude.

This may sound just goofy but I have this feeling that when and if California cracks a big one so will we in the NMSZ. Back 200 years ago if I am not mistaken they had a big (6+) and so did we within a few months. Again, that is if I remember correctly. There was a huge volcanic eruption as well(I think). Sorry....I will see if there are links I can add...be back in a few.

Is this the message you see when you open it ?

We are sorry, but the URL you requested could not be found. The page you are looking for may have been renamed, moved, or deleted.

Seems a strange message if it's just off temporarily .

Yes that is the message I see. I went
directly to the site to try to get to the cam.
It doesn't even list a quake cam any longer.
Just the Laguna Beach and local LA news
thats on at certain times. I hope they haven't
taken it down.

Very suspicious , to me , that with everything going on they would take it down .

Is there something that they don't want us to see ?

I have known of the cam being off line
for a while but it isn't even listed on
the web site now. I click live video
cam and no listing for it. I think they
have taken it completely down and
I am suspicious as well.

I sent them an Email - will let you know
if and when I hear from them. I did ask
if it was temporary or permanent.

Wow, this is suspicious! You know that was the only live recorder to view, in So Cal, but I actually think our little thread was advertising it a little too well. Over the last couple of months several odd occurrences showed on the cam and/or with the tv station manipulating the drum. At least that's what is seemed like to me.

This really bothers me! What the heck is coming that they have to hide from us? We weren't hurting anyone, why'd they take our toy away?

Good job emailing. Hope they respond, but I am having doubts. It's TV not politics, they don't have to be nice.

That is exactly what I want to know. The timing is suspect as so
many earthquakes right now. Unusual quakes in the US - such
as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and now Utah seems to be
having a swarm.

Well, I just e-mailed them too. In fact I may have e-mailed them more than once! When I tried to leave the site it kept saying your message has been sent. It came up three times before I was able to escape!!!! Don't know what was up with that!

Maybe if a lot of people e-mail they will rethink their decision to take it down. Unless......there is an interior, ulterior motive!!!!

Thanks for emailing them - hope they at least
return an email with an explanation.

Interesting. I will say that I have the old quake cam hot-linked on my IE, as I live in SF and review our earthquake data daily. Never hurts to checkin on the LA situation as well.

Last night, the cam was up, but the lines were spread FAR apart, not the usual sequence of lines several mm's apart. I thought that was strange . . and thought about posting but didn't want to bother people. Maybe the device wasn't functioning properly. But then again -- all links to the cam appear to be removed from the ABC site.

Strange indeed -- although we ATS's likely helped out their web traffic A TON!
