I really like Ancient Aliens and the show the other day about plagues was really interesting. But these folks on the show that discuss the different things suffer from the same problem other archaeologists suffer from.

They don't give ancient people enough credit.

It's like every episode one person or another insinuates that ancient people were too dumb to do what they did. That's just crappy science there. Archaeologists also have a bad tendency to think ancient people had no sense of humor or that every thing ancient people did was soooo serious.

You don't find any good answers by wandering around blindly.

Any answer is better than mere conjecture; would you not agree?

Dissagree.

Conjecture leads to further exploration wheras any answer, even if is it wrong, leads you to sit arround saying "I got the answer!"

I like the show, even if I do think a fair proportion of it is probably bunkum. There is possibly some truth in some of it, and certainly some huge questions left unanswered.

Yeahhhhh, but that guy in the picture above looks funny and entertaining. Now look at the Guy in the link that I have provided, and ask yourself, "Which one looks trustworthy?"

I think he is a great eccentric person definately entertainment, he makes you think a little bit. You could say the show is sort of a "control breaker" for the millions who watch. I know people who aren't interested in Aliens who are talking about the Ancient Aliens theory and the coming 2 years with enthusiasm.

I find Ancient Alien contact far more likely than a a self aware sentient master entity in the sky who created everything. Not saying the possiblity isn't there but i find this a hell of a lot more likely.

This show isn't educating the people, it's feeding them pseudo-science!!

They're throwing a ton of "could it be that...?" questions out there without ever backing up a single one of them. Even worse, tons of times they're making statements that are demonstrably wrong, or simply not based on logic or objective evidence.

A bit of a disgrace that this program is running on the HISTORY channel, when it's more of a sci-fi program.

Oh how intelligent, a -0 there is no such number sorry, could've said something better. Don't put Nick Pope under the same flag, at least he's researching contemporary UFOs and knows a lot more than you as being formerly in MoD to obviously support AAT.

I fail to see how some nobodies here at ATS think they are something when they one big NOTHING compared to those who at least take the time and do research, write books and eventually create something thoughtful and logical as a theory. Seriously get down to Earth, cause im sick of such morons taking themselves too high.

AAT is just a theory, not a fact, a very logical theory with lots of logical connections. There are things that do not sound right but that's the point of a theory. It's a possibility especially if it turns out there have been alien beings here, I think this theory will become a fact.

Stop disrespecting the work of people who are times more intelligent than you. they could be wrong about some things or all but at least they do better than you.

Everyone's a critic. Must be real hard to take someone's work someone who has devoted his time on something at least to suggest and say - oh what a crap, it's wrong, he's a lier, he's a hoaxer etc. . Let's see your books? You will make a theory my A$$ cause that's all you can do, it requires lots of intelligence to bash people's work for being this and that. I know 99% of UFO cases are a joke but AAT isn't something to bash so much. Lots of people are involved in this theory, and there is logic in lots of the things they say, good connections I may add. It's a good theory, t-h-e-o-r-y not fact... why bash something that is just a suggestion? Retarded posts above.

Well, it's just that they DON'T back up their theories with logic/rationality. They make statements and IMPLY something without ever backing it up with hard facts.

So kudos for spending time thinking about something, but shame on them for not backing up their claims/theories with facts.

producers of that show would not be able to provide too many facts at this point... even if they had them.

that would not fly... I do think I need to go review the ep about nazis though... they are going somewhere with this and may have passionate people on this mission for reasons apart from their own.... which could be money or disinfo. who knows what the hell is going on when you can tie ends up in such a way that you can't even tell what it is anymore... like the economy for example.

who knows, maybe the guy with he crazy hair is really the only one that wants you to know the truth.

they might be making this guy look like a kook on purpose by funding his ideas and backing him into a corner... like with his make up clause for example.

i agree that some of the people on the show speek as though these things were done by ETs and thats probably because they beleive it themselves but the thing this show is telling us is that it is a possability, and i agree that it is a possability

take the show with a pinch of salt, but dont discount it altogether. and if you dont like it then dont watch it, simple as.

Yeah he's hard to Quote-Unquote to stomach.

OT: I've just started to pick up this show myself and never even heard of the Ancient Alien theory before I saw it. My aunt pointed it out too me and also this site(not a member just a lurker). I thought it did a good job in presenting it, though I never imagine that it wasn't the mainstream view of it. So, as someone who can personally say I prolly wouldn't have taken the theory as serious in till viewing the dumbed down version(I feel ashamed now) I agree with the OP. Anyways I'm going to be looking into the theory more throughly now.

For all of you who 'love' ancient alien theories, why is it that these shows never focus on what was required of humans? Sacrifices, the killing of thousands upon thousands of humans, many of which were children? To beings described as ' gods' - your ancient aliens.

Peru's Inca civilization. Pre-Inca, like the Maya said the gods were from the star system "pleiades" just as the sumerians did. There is new evidence of human sacrifices.

The ancient Maya had a complex pantheon of gods whom they worshipped and offered human sacrifices.

In the Pyramid Texts, known as the Cannibal Hymn, it describe the pharaoh who cannibalises the gods - 'A god who lives on his fathers and feeds on his mothers ... who lives on the being of every god, who eats their entrails ... Pharaoh is he who eats men and lives on gods.

Ancient Sumerians sacrificed humans to their gods, today people are 'convinced' these God's were 'aliens'.

So, whilst you enjoy the fabrications and brainwashing provided to you curtesy of 'tptb', I'd like you to ponder the thousands and thousands of children and adults going missing around the world, never to be found again. I'd like you to ponder the cattle mutilations ascribed to UFO activity. I'd like you to ponder the legs washing up onshore. I'd like you to ponder the rise in chaos about you in societies and nations. The increase in bloodshed around the world in warfare - the shedding of blood. I'd like you to ponder the 3000 lives sacrificed in 9/11. I'd also like to direct your attention to the rise in UFO activity which many people feel is demonic activity. Any research into demonic activity / spirit activity shows that the energies seem to thrive around chaos, fear and places of tragic murders. Over the past couple of centuries, occultists have been channeling these 'gods' - go on, do some research.

My point is simple: Ancient Aliens, Ancient Astronauts - the whole idea by 'tptb' is to get you to view them in a different light - you are amazed by, in awe of, and nearly convinced that these things were extraterrestrial life forms who benefitted humanity.

No they did not. And they are back - because they know that they have one last chance to get as many followers as possible before they are resoundingly defeated. This is all foretold, in an amazing book called the Bible. The Word of God.

Just because they ask hypothetical questions and then imply aliens are the answer without ever backing up those claims with hard facts, doesn't mean I have to buy into that nonsense. The show runs on the HISTORY channel, it should be education and based on facts. The reality is, it isn't, it's all pure speculation...which would be OK. Sadly, they often try to sell that speculation as fact, which is highly misleading.

In short, kudos for them to let the mind roam freely and speculate...but shame on them for trying to present their speculation as science, because it clearly isn't.

perhaps you could mention something that aliens did?... instead of just the deeds of humans.

we've got people doing all sorts of suspicious things all concerning aliens... and still no aliens.

I wonder when the new sacrifices will begin?

They imply the whole alien stuff so strongly, it's ridiculous.

The entire program can be summarized like this:

1) Presenters show some historic remnant of some random civilization.
2) Presenter asks "could it be, that this is the result of aliens visiting earth?"
3) Presenter moves on to the next remnanat.

Not once have they backed up that hypothetical question with real facts. One would expect that on a HISTORY program, there's at least some facts and not just random speculation.

what all have they said was fact?

you mention facts now as if they claimed one and it didn't stand up... which one?

have you watched anything else on the history channel?

that's how the majority of the programs are... perhaps your beef is with the history channel for all there speculation based shows.

Once again I have to say that the AA theory is basically modern industrialist science fiction rewriting of mythology and also racist imperialist thinking ("These [non -white] primitive people couldn't have built these things so they must have whte help or must be aliens!").

My family all loved the shows, we recorded them al on our DVR, so we could watch several times. My two school aged boys got a good education from the shows, as we live in a mostly Christian town where all aliens are demons and anyone not belonging to the cult is going straight to hell. Some people are going to be in denial until the craft actually lands in front of them.

Neither culture made such a claim.

If I'm wrong, then please produce evidence from the Inca, the Maya and the Sumerians to support what you said.
