Now, I have determined a way to check this.

Per the original trajectories, Elenin will pass between Earth and the Sun circa September 21 when any tail it has will be pointed straight at the earth and this should have some noticable effect to the earth.

If, however, the effects from its tail (if any) do not show up until around September 27th then this means the comet is slowing down per the calculations contained in this video.

OMG !!!

I have just noticed that because of Nibiru

ups, you experts call it "Elenin", no, "R2D2",

my magic beans are growing way slower now !!!

OMG, what will I do now ?!?!?!

Due to it infrared signiature it is believed to be a very high electromagnetic object full of all sorts of interesting things like ions and, of course, a certain amount of debris.

I am guessing we'll know - either September 21 or 27th...

"Due to its infrared signature"....... hmmm ...... only one man seems to fit for this job according to his name.......

InfraRedMan...... Make it so !!

Yes, well, for those who want to see the infrared signiature there is a picture of it in the first couple of frames of the video :

Why are my magic beans less believable than your Nibiru, no, Elenin-R2D2, story ?

You expect someone to trust you on your word, no, your verified data,
but you can't put some faith in me ?

I have search the sky with my Ultra-Violet-signature-autograph telescope
and there is no sign of any comet.

I have even used my patented, signature, laser-polished,
plasma-homogenized, autographed, lenses and still nothing.

Here is a video showing the breakup of Elenin and also three 'companions' that are following it.

It also - according to the author of the video - shows the comet slowing down - in relation to the three companions.

The explosion from Jupiter (actually a Gamma Ray Emission) is no where close to the Comet so doesn't bear on its breakup :

Its about NASA's terminology regarding comets....
Calling Elenin "Wimpy" 2km...
So a 4 km+ would be "abit less wimpy".........
Then just a third more would be
...oh yeah, "the PT extinction event comet"... Just stick to the numbers NASA, less of the kindergarten terminology.

Using the numbers if it were to be a slam dunk it's a 30% die off.
Now you see why i was chucked off the official Elenin Facebook group
they hate the numbers and....detail.
edit on 10-9-2011 by DreamerOracle because: (no reason given)

This, then, leads the average person to ask the obvious question - if this is not a wimpy comet, then why on earth did they say it was...

You see in space it is small, 2km compared to most of the giant rocks out there but I reserve "wimpy" for something like 50mtrs... but you see 50mtrs.....
Still a doozey aye?

Looking at the orbital map in the video STEREO should get a pretty close look at it.
Also a comet would lose mass as it approaches the sun and starts to melt and gas would it not?
I would assume that the side facing the sun would be subject to the most of this outgasing, would this not cause a change in the comets velocity as the gas would be ejected in the direction of travel, newtons 3rd law and all that????
Passing through the tail could prove interesting aswell
Maximum overdrive anyone

How is the tail going to be pointing at Earth? Elenin is going to be above the ecliptic. The tail will point away from the Sun, meaning it will be aimed even farther above the ecliptic. Then there's also the fact that even at perigree Elenin will not be close enough to Earth for its tail to reach us. So, I'm just wondering how you came to this conclusion that we would even pass through the tail in the first place.

Here is a video from March that shows the size of the Coma and its 'tail' - just for reference :

I find it hard to take any of this seriously when you are claiming that Jupiter emitted a GRB. First off, the "explosion" looks exactly like the lens flares that are so common there is even a section of the STEREO website that explains what they are. Second, it is absolutely impossible for Jupiter to emit a GRB. Only stars are capable of producing GRBs and only in their death throes. Long GRBs occur when a star goes supernova and a short GRB occurs when binary neutron stars merge. It's clear that at this point in this Elenin nonsense any kind of science has gone straight out the window and now people are stringing together words they don't even understand, but they sound sciencey.

Wow - you might want to check this video out - the guy is very detailed but it is worth the wait to the end conclusion :

Yeah - exactly - if Elenin is wimply, why did they turn, not one, but two satellites around so they could take some pictures of it...

I'm not the one who originated that - and the tail in not one inch thick.

Get it?

I find it hard to take you seriously when you don't listen to what I said. I did not say Gamma Ray Burst I said Gamma Ray Emission. And, further, perhaps, since you are the resident genius, if that was not a Gamma Ray Emission, then what was it?

It was a lens flare. They are seen all of the time on these satellites when a planet enters or leaves the field of view. NASA even has a page that explains this and provides examples. However, since you think it was gamma ray emissions (which wouldn't even be visible with the telescopes monitoring the Sun) why don't you explain what caused it?
