I blame "breakbeat" for that.
its like techno for the adhd. see how chaotic you can make sounds and voila...bah!

We are talking about opposite ends of the spectrum here though. I'm sayin I hate the stuff that isn't chaotic enough. Unless you are saying minimalist stuff came as backlash against overly nutty breakbeats.

John O'Callaghan feat. Sarah Howells - Find Yourself. This tune was amazing when he brought it out. Along with Big Sky. Always a great reaction from the crowd. Shame I've not seen him this year yet.

I think breakbeat is a mostly florida thing, so the point of reference may be lost.
general house music runs on a 16 beat..meaning 16 beats then something changes, either additions or alterations...simple math really, yet it works well.

Breakbeat changes every 8 beats sometimes completely...meaning there is no pattern, no build, no crecendo's, etc...its arguably not even music considering there is no overall "vibe" you get from it.

Now, admittedly, it has progressed and developed over 10 years and most have adapted the standard 16 beat, realizing the 8 beat totally sucked..and is now more of a randomness/pseudo-garage flavored house...much better. I guess all those back alley DJs in florida seen the few decent BB DJs getting big on the 16 beat and either quit or adapted, but meh...I got my first impression with the initial crap of people trying something new and making something horrible.

Still, you may like the new stuff. type in "Florida breakbeats" and give it a whirl. DJ Baby Anne is pretty big

I just don't like it though...still. Could be me simply not giving it a chance though..or just comparing it to other stuff of the time

(incidentally, this song is on my 12/21/12 playlist for my apoc party)

Truth is, I love it all, but I have my favorites.

A bit of UK garage and drum and bass to the mix.

Thank You! I like how you're explaining this music to me, it's kinda new to me but I love it.

Liked all your additions, never heard any of them. So, thanks again.

Especially liked "Southern Sun" and Ibiza chillout, awesome stuff.
