That million + figure you are quoting has not been proven. Those mass graves had under ten thousand, not the hundreds of thousands we were told and fewr than were killed in this war.
As far as killing his own people, you can argure they were just insurgents trying to overthrow the government so he was justified, just like you probably feel the US is justified for killing insurgents now.

Aside from the factories, the Iraqis feel you are doing that.
They view the new government, headed by an ex-CIA asset, as a puppet to the US.
If the troops would leave perhaps things will get better over there but the troops don't look like they're leaving anytime soon.
It looks like they are there to stay, at least in reduced numbers.
Let's not forget how long they've already been there, it's not just since 2003, the US and UK have been bombing targets in Iraq since the first gulf war.

Am I the only one on this? But it seems to me that no matter how bad the economy and no matter how bad our current government is nothing makes you feel better than watching a fellow countryman/woman standing on the podium with the gold medal around his/her neck with the flag in the background and the national anthem playing.

People wake up and listen to the Iraqis from Iraq tell their story.

They have not reason to be telling lies, this Iraqis came out of Iraq and for the fist time they are able to express their views.

Yes they own this ability to talk freely to US and the "invasion for liberation" if US where not longer in their country US to this people and president bush would have been their hero.

What happened? The "invasion for liberation" turns in war against Iraqis that are against US when their families and friends started to die, when torture of prisoners in Iraq by US military personal started, when destruction of the cities and instability of the country has resulted by Islamic fundamentalist coming through their borders.

This people are upset now US calling their fellow Iraqi citizens terrorist because they don't want US in their country anymore.

This people are upset when private companies are taking over their oil productions and jobs.

I dare anybody to come and prove that this Iraqis from the soccer team are lying and for what reasons.

Just to add something to this thread I had not seen in here yet. Drudge and NBC are both reporting that President Bush is planning a "quick" trip to the Olympics, possibly to see this very team play soccer.

Now they state it is a secret trip in planning stages (guess the secret is out) but if the players feel this way I cannot imagine Bush will attend. What would the world think if they saw him there and protested, refused to play or something. I think it is a possibility...

You are right they can but first they have to dodge the bullets and pray that a car bomb does not turn them into "casualties of the war on terror"
