If I was living under a freaken dictator, who killed a million plus people in his reign. Who tortured people, who massacred his own people.
Who took money meant for aid, and instead built another palace because the 100+ he had were not enough. I would not give a dam if someone came in and knocked him out.

That million + figure you are quoting has not been proven. Those mass graves had under ten thousand, not the hundreds of thousands we were told and fewr than were killed in this war.
As far as killing his own people, you can argure they were just insurgents trying to overthrow the government so he was justified, just like you probably feel the US is justified for killing insurgents now.

Do you realize that if no one fired at the US over there, no one would fire back. Do you realize that they do not shoot unless shot at. What kind of super nice crap is that, can you think of another country that would do that. I will put it like this, in a fight, you want to get the first blow, its simple, but we are not doing that.

Have you even been following this war?
Did you forget the shock and awe campaign?
Did you forget the 2,000 pond boms dropped by planes?
The US did strike the first blow, do not try and pretend like they didn't.

We are taking the long hard road, obviously there are exceptions, but again, If I was over there, I would be happy, just like 50% of the people over there are.

You would be happy if one or more of your friends, family or neighbors had been killed or imprisoned by an occupying force?
I doubt it.

Get a grip if someone was coming in my Nation "America" and said hey look, we are going to stay, you are going to work in our factories, and we will be your new Dictator! Yeah I would take up arms and fight. But we are not doing that,

Aside from the factories, the Iraqis feel you are doing that.
They view the new government, headed by an ex-CIA asset, as a puppet to the US.
If the troops would leave perhaps things will get better over there but the troops don't look like they're leaving anytime soon.
It looks like they are there to stay, at least in reduced numbers.
Let's not forget how long they've already been there, it's not just since 2003, the US and UK have been bombing targets in Iraq since the first gulf war.

If your country was invaded you would be willing to accept that? I don't want to be the best. I just want to be American. If I wanted to be Chinese I'd move to China.

Like I said, It all depends on there intensions.

If I knew we had a bad Leader/President/Dictator then I would support it to get him out of power (of couse i'm talking if I were an Iraqi, because hear in america we have control over who is our President).

A great deal of healing is done through olympic sports. Look at the 1980 winter olympics and the US hockey team.

International sports showcases such as the Olympics and the World Chess Championship have always been used by my fellow propagandistas to promote national agendas. This had precedent before the Cold War, noteably in the Berlin Olympics of 1936, it was conducted during the Cold War, and still goes on today.

I'm not quite sure how it promotes national agendas. Cheating yes... but agendas?

Am I the only one on this? But it seems to me that no matter how bad the economy and no matter how bad our current government is nothing makes you feel better than watching a fellow countryman/woman standing on the podium with the gold medal around his/her neck with the flag in the background and the national anthem playing.

People wake up and listen to the Iraqis from Iraq tell their story.

They have not reason to be telling lies, this Iraqis came out of Iraq and for the fist time they are able to express their views.

Yes they own this ability to talk freely to US and the "invasion for liberation" if US where not longer in their country US to this people and president bush would have been their hero.

What happened? The "invasion for liberation" turns in war against Iraqis that are against US when their families and friends started to die, when torture of prisoners in Iraq by US military personal started, when destruction of the cities and instability of the country has resulted by Islamic fundamentalist coming through their borders.

This people are upset now US calling their fellow Iraqi citizens terrorist because they don't want US in their country anymore.

This people are upset when private companies are taking over their oil productions and jobs.

I dare anybody to come and prove that this Iraqis from the soccer team are lying and for what reasons.

Just to add something to this thread I had not seen in here yet. Drudge and NBC are both reporting that President Bush is planning a "quick" trip to the Olympics, possibly to see this very team play soccer.

Now they state it is a secret trip in planning stages (guess the secret is out) but if the players feel this way I cannot imagine Bush will attend. What would the world think if they saw him there and protested, refused to play or something. I think it is a possibility...

Right now things suck in Iraq and we are the easiest target for their anger. At least when he gets home he can practice in his stadium now. I have a feeling not all his teamates feel the same way. I wonder if their going to have to take a commercial charter home after his comments.

You are right they can but first they have to dodge the bullets and pray that a car bomb does not turn them into "casualties of the war on terror"

It would be a real danger for everyone at the Olympics if Bush shows up for Photo Ops there.

Insanity on this governments part. You think somebody should tell them they are personna non grata there? Or do they think they'll wisk George out and build a pyramid topped by Bush? Pleeease...

Is there no end to the election PR? Surely someone must tell Bush how the world feels about him. You think?
