Hi all, I wanted to update you on a conversation I had this morning. I was a little reprimanded by my friend after I had discussed the fact that I had a conversation with others regarding some information he had recently shared with me. As a result, I've been asked to make an extremely clear correction to a post yesterday. Although all the information is scientifically accurate, when describing what "imminent" was referring to in geological terms, the USGS formal position is that "We do not give time tables". I do want to stress that being prepared is a must in any event. Many of you have posted great links to earthquake preparedness sites which I encourage everyone to go to, even if you already have a plan or an emergency kit with you. And, there are many places that offer prepared earthquake kits, QuakeAlert is a good source, however you can also go to their site and see what's included in each kit and create your own for much cheaper. Again, be prepared for whatever today and tomorrow bring, you'll be thankful you did. Good luck all!! I'll certainly keep you posted on new information as I receive it.

I'm not sure if this thread is still active, however I'll find out fairly quick when I post this comment. Unfortunately, I cannot start a thread of my own due to the fact I am a new user. That said, about three months ago I mentioned a "mega-quake" scenario that scientist had not published as factual yet. I hope my credibility has been proven at this point, based on the report by the USGS released June 26, 2011 backing my previous claims that a mega-quake would originate at the base of the San Andreas fault zone in the Salton Sea and work upwards towards the LA Basin and eastward through Palm Springs and Apple Valley. The information provided is very limited. I have to stress this fact. IF the USGS released all the data, along with other scientist's findings on electromagnetic research, the backlash of public hysteria would overwhelm the system. I'm here to tell you, to inform you, that what is being released is a frightening scenario, but what's not being released is even more so. The timeline of such an event is "imminent" in Geological terms, however please keep in mind that that does not mean tomorrow, next month, or even next year. I was reprimanded by a friend of mine the last time I posted for saying "imminent", as most respond to this term as "immediate", which it is not. The electromagnetic research in this area is quite amazing. Quakefinder.com, an organization privately funded, is behind this ground breaking research. Research I might add that the USGS publicly does not acknowledge, but I know for fact they track daily. Please know that I am not here to cause alarm or to predict earthquakes in any way, however I do want everyone to be prepared for an event so massive that the destruction will trump that of Japan's massive earthquake in March 2011. This earthquake is NOT far off. I have to include one final thought; the words not being spoken in mainstream media by scientist is that an overwhelming majority of geologist are indicating that "the course of the 2012 presidential race will be shaped by the response to the devastation in Los Angeles and San Diego counties, making Hurricane Katrina look like a fender bender". Earthquakes are survivable, but you must prepare. Do not just have 3 days of food and water. I guarantee you that it will NOT be enough. Plan for two weeks of basic food and supplies. Moreover, if you have family and loved ones with you in So Cal (Los Angeles to Palm Springs, to San Diego) make a plan for AFTER the quake. Have a meeting place and instructions on how to get there. Just make sure you have a plan and supplies, you'll make it that way. As I have done previously, I'll post more when I know more.

Unfortunately, I agree. This CAN'T be for real. First off, the location of the post indicates "jpl in pasadena". Nothing is a buzz there, trust me. If there was some looming information, I would know about it. Secondly, and most importantly, no current study ever provides short term "EQ Prediction", at least not yet. There are many systems, (mentioned above in various posts), that are actual real-world EQ research programs happening right now. None of which provide information that would be "shocking" with regards to looming short-term predictions. And let me clarify, "short-term" is never within months. True, some RD have provided somewhat short-term results, however the ranges are consistently within years and give a wide range. JPL and many organizations are not in the business of predicting earthquakes, but that's exactly what they do, just not in a short term dated manner. I call it a bluff, unless you reveal your identity or some source of inside information. Thanks

Quite some time ago I mentioned that I thought TM had already posted under a couple of other names. These are the ones I was referring to. I hadn't mentioned them due to the fact of not wanting to connect these dots just in case TM is legit. It may lead to further banning, or firing.

Obviously, the LA poster has a co-worker that is aware they are posting here. THAT is probably why they posted in a different thread and also why they opposed TM.

I guess it doesn't matter unless it's real....and if that is the case, than I hope TM continues to inform us...or at least makes a few more generic posts somewhere so they can U2U us.

West Coast,I respect and admire you and your great insight.
But my gut feeling is this person has been crying wolf for awhile,and no one listens.
This person has been inadvertently been receiving and possibly misinterpreting info that they have come across.
There fore sensationalizing the info and backing it up with and agreeing with this crack pot Jim Berkland.
And then debunking his own post under another name!
It is true that California will have a major quake,sooner or later ,but everyone knows that.
All I know is they are trying to prepare everyone,cause they know a big one is coming soon.

Am I right in assuming that you are friends with Jim Berkland and feel that you get inside information from him. Maybe the two of you feel that you are on a mission to warn people and save lives, hooray for you.

I find that this video sounds an awful lot like you. Perhaps you worked for him at one time. Maybe you met him at happy hour and you two hit it off, I don't know. I do believe you have a scientific point of view towards things because you have argued that only plate shift causes earthquakes. You don't seem to open your mind to other theories.

You mention QuakeFinder in one of your postings and I am not sure how it ties into any of this. Maybe you could enlighten us.

You also mention GESScould you maybe just cut copy and paste the important parts into a post. You wouldn't be giving anything away but rather pointing us in the right direction. Maybe if you could cut copy and paste any relevant info this would keep you from getting into trouble. It would be public knowledge anyway, right.

Maybe you were off on your last warning and that is okay, I don't care. I really hope that there is a big quake to prove you right. (I WOULD HOPE THAT NO PERSON WOULD BE INJURED) This would mean that we are able to predict quakes and save lives. This would be a HUGE leap forward in EQ preparedness.

Could you throw us a bone? You see our interest in this. You see that we are willing to go the mile and do research for your information. I am not asking you drive us to our destination but at least hand us a map.

I am convinced tmiddlebrook and jalosangeles2011 are the same person. Many of you have found posts that have similiar phases. Also, tmiddlebrook is talking about quake in California. And wouldn't you know it, seperate the name and you get ja los angeles. So, you have the California connection. And right after tmiddlebrooks appears, you have jalosangeles arguing that tmiddlebrook is a hoax. Talk about playing both sides of the field.

If this is true. Then tmiddlebrook is a not telling the truth.

And it takes an extreme violation to be banned. At one point several people thought I was going to be banned because I went off on another member claiming to be a geologist on the Yellowstone thread. I was not making the moderators happy and was arguing with them in postings and in emails. They didn't ban me. They could have. But didn't.

The banning of tmiddlebrook and jalosangeles was immediate and absolute.
I don't think this was coincidence. I think there was a good reason behind the decisions.

As much as I applaud you all for your research and you investigation. The trail keeps coming back around to this point, tmiddlebrook and jalosangeles are the same person. And since the posts were made to appear as though they were two different people expressing different opinions, this means all of it is fabricated and not truthful.

In the words of jalosangeles2011, "I call it a bluff..."

Regardless who this person may or may not be...what they have accomplished is an enormous awareness light bulb going off in a lot of heretofore dark synapses.
I have to thank all who did their due dilligence and even the Mod who hoax binned the whole shmear.

That is interesting.
I was just wondering what their batting average was as far as predicting earthquakes.

I see they have a 36 hour time frame for something to occur.
Let's hope it doesn't come true.

I put this prediction up yesterday. Then I looked into the guy that does this forecasting and he is not very reputable in the media. We discussed a similar prediction in may last year here I realized after posting this prediction, and of course it didn't come true. Google Luke Thomas, you'll see what I mean.

I do think the Salton Sea area could be a potential center for a large earhquake though, after reading up a bit.

Things are getting a bit active around there.....however, this is not new, as the link I gave a couple of posts back shows a swarm under that body of water not too long ago. Doesn't mean something won't happen....just that to say it COULD does not take any kind of special training or brilliance.

Kdog...no need to feel bad about anything. That breadcrumb trail was left for us to follow...either intentional or not. Not our problem if it leads back to a real person...they knew what they were doing.

I still say, whether legit or not, we have learned a lot. Robin, I respect your opinion (as always) and you could very well be right. I still think it could go either way (trying to play devils advocate to look inocent, or just someone who gets off on playing mind games) Given the legitimacy of these studies we have found though, if TM is just messing with us, it's a shame, because they seem to have quite a lot to share.

This is my thinking as well WC. I have been following this thread and it does appear that he/she does have knowledge in regards to EQ's and possible time lines....who knows. Once thing is certain..Salton Sea is over due, however he/she was not specific or at least not enough for me to conclude anything.

In the EQ world the past few days it has been rather quiet.... too quiet I think. It is possible the next few days will become active. Time will tell all and the anticipation of what is to come seems to be what is keeping all of us on the edge of our seat these days....just never know but we must all get prepared just in case a big one cracks in our neck of the woods.

I think you have all done a great job and we have learned a lot.

First, if that is really a picture of you...kuddos for stepping out. Second, you look SO much like a friend of mine in the 'real' world, that I can't help but feel like I already know you.
