So far Isabel was far far worse.
Irene is turning into a bust. At least for right now and I am not so far away from the center where I am. Radar is showing the outer reaches of the rain right around the center to be over my area right now. Its just a light rain and some strong breezes every now and then.

It is now a category 1. By the time it passes PA it will be a normal storm. I'm sure of it.

Yes it will and all the current projections say that this storm by later tonight will be a tropical storm. Not even a hurricane. All this talk of NJ, NY, Boston, is all fear mongering in it's finest of forms. The only thing the Northern States will need to keep an eye on is localized flooding. The ground is already saturated from plenty of rain, this storm will dump a lot of water on top of that. So if you are in a flood prone area, expect flooding. If you are not, you may see some mild flooding, but other than that.... nothing.

Little to no rain right now. Wind has picked up. Ground speed is a steady 15 with 30-35 mph gusts about every 7-10 seconds. Nothing hurricane about it yet. Not even a good tropical storm from where I am right now. Center is still south and east of me.

It was an elaborate hoax designed to get people to spend their money on supplies. And it sure worked. The government and MSM are both complicit. What else is new.

Bizarre, not sure what to make of this

Getting a bit more tropical looking now. Spitty rain. Local radar shows mostly greens with a few sparse yellows. Winds steady at about 12-18 at ground level with gusts of 35-40. Still not too bad but is showing signs of life.

Well...but...but, it was going to be WAAAAY bigger and wipe out the East Coast, but they used HAARP to make it dissipate because "they" felt like being nice that day.

Just goes to show you that our technology is simply not up to the task of an accurate predicition.

No one has proven what HAARP's capabilities actually are, if there even IS such a project.

Seems to me, if that technology was operational, the obvious side effect of accurate weather forecasting would not be classified as secret, and thus, accessible to the NOAA.

I know, me too.

Completely confused. I expected disaster, from what was being projected by MSM in advance.

Well hip hip horray for HAARP.
Conditions here are taking a turn for the worse. Wind speeds at ground level are at 25-30 mph while gusts are 45-55 with a few that sound a bit stronger than that. Rain is now steady and wind driven but not too heavy although its hard to judge sometimes when its blown like that. I go outside on my front porch every so often and the rain is not at the stinging stage yet lol. Will keep updating as long as I can. I will make all further updates in the hurricanes 2011 thread. I have to share the puter with the rest of the clan including a 15 year old who is so socially connected.

Hmmm, and nothing to do with the ridge lifting and letting in all that southwest dry air. It sucked it in where it should have been getting feeder bands. It was dying since last night. It still looks to be a bit of an adventure this afternoon. The lights are still on. Duh, anyway look for updates in the hurricane 2011 thread.

I was being 100% sarcastic haha. I know a thing or two about weather...minored in Meteorology and majored in Professional Aviation Flight Technology. It was a joke.

I believe you are correct. I really do think that the level of fear was cranked up a bit and evacuation orders were given in Northern States that were completely not needed in an effort to get people to spend money and give a boost to the local economies. By Northern States, I am specifically talking about Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York.

It is humorous to me. I am watching the coverage and fear mongering on The Weather Channel right now. They are still telling people in New York City to get out... they are telling people there is no excuse to not get out of the city because the Taxi cabs are still running. Think about that for just a second
