Of course marksmanship ability reflex the accuracy of all weapons.

But when they evaluate weapons they ensure that the skill levels of the marksmen involved in the evaluation are comparable so that the results represent the efficiency of the weapon not the shooter.

C1A1 too heavy, too many parts built to too fine tolerances for dirty fighting....
Roll a FAL in the mud and drop a full mag in now count the rounds you get to fire....good luck....!
I think the all round best weapon available is probably a dea woo max 2 ,.....combination of a locked bolt and an AK type piston works.
The best of both guns M16and AK
combined into a folding or detatched stock and very light to carry, they take M16 mags and the are pretty rugged guns.
made in Korea for the ROK forces by Dae Woo company.
I owned one and also the M16 H bar, A garand, and M1 carbine with legal barrel, as well as the swedish 6.5x55 semi auto.
The Swedish rifle had the best penetration of all of them.
Tho it was like the garand too heavy.

I presently own a fnfal and and hk91.
Used to own a norinco pre-ban ak sniper but got rid of it.
In a one on one firefight hands down to the .308
With the .308 vs, 7.62x39 no comparison.
And between the fnfal and the hk91 i'll take the fnfal.
Truly a masterpiece of a rifle.
But forgot to add.
I've got a Rasheed.
If you don't know what that is look it up.
In 7.62x39 it's the best shooting gun for that caliber.
Based on the Ljungman /Hakeem action.
Very accurate inside 150 yds.
I love that little rifle.

No, oddly enough, he was Army Air Corp during WWII, and saw some combat on a couple of little islands called Saipan, and Guam. Later he returned to service during Korea, and was in Korea during some of the heaviest fighting at the time, but didn't see any combat that I'm aware of. In '60, and '61, he was an "advisor" to South Vietnamese forces in country and saw action against Viet Minh guerrillas. In all that time, he carried the Garand, and has always maintained he never felt outgunned. I'll take his word for it.

Is it the best? No. It is number one because the USSR flooded the world with this rifle. And as a weapon of war, it has earned some place in the ranks.

that's the show. they also use 4 different criteria for every Top Ten. I can't remember which 4 for Combat Rifles, but I believe production and longevity were two. Usually they use fear factor, but I don't think it was used in this episode.

The criteria they used definitely put the AK as #1, but if they had used accuracy, the outcome would've been different.

Gotta go with the M1 though.

I really have to question the intellect of the # heads that talk trash about AKs being inaccurate.
As another astute poster pointed out..."apparently they're accurate enough".
They're not sniper rifles.
They will take down anything within a few hundred yards unless you shoot like a little school girl.
How F ing accurate do they need to be?
I think I'd be ok with having to send a few more rounds down range as long as I know that the damn thing isn't going to malfunction the first time it gets wet or muddy.

For all of you people who talk # about AKs, lets see your smug little asses stand a few hundered yards down range from one, I promise I won't need all 30 rounds.

AK is numero uno. Nobody said yo had to keep holding the trigger until yor looking up.

Since I dont have a fully automatic machine gun though I prefer my Mini14. Doesnt get much easier or reliable as a good mini 14. Not too many moving parts, no aluminum like the black rifles. Great firearm

Hmmm..... well i can see you are an expert.
If i'm out in the field.
And had one gun.
I'll take something with a six hundred yard range over a gun with at best in a perfect world 3 hundred yard range.
There is a reason the .308 is in high demand in the Stan.
And by the way the point is mute, the AK47 is NOT A COMBAT RIFLE!
It is an assault rifle BIG difference in the range.
So why we are talking about the ak is beyond me in the first place.
But you are the expert so you'd already know that wouldn't you.

they replayed the show:

here's what they went by:
Innovation
Combat Effectiveness
Handling
Accuracy
Length In Service

I was wrong in an earlier post, I thought they used Fear Factor instead. The producers use Fear Factor quite often.
Accuracy was the AK's lowest mark.
Forgot to add last time, the Nagat was robbed, and shoulda been in the list.

Go to the Knob Creek, KY machinegun shoot, it's on 2x per year, plenty of guys there with M16's that have fired many 10's of thousands of rds without problems, they'll throw it in mud, water, etc and let you fire it, to prove all t this AK bs to be just that, bs.

I like my Steyr AUG. It's small, heavy enough to stay on target after being fired, and is simple to understand.

Totally underrated, but this is changing now as there are 2 clones of it on the US market now. Singapore uses another home-brewed clone of it as the basis for its future weapon platform.

Neither of these are assault rifles. Both of these weapons are classed as sub-machine guns.

I loved my 7.62 x 38 FN FAL SLR. Plenty of stopping power and the ability to engage targets at long range. With a bipod fitted, this was one acurate machine. True, I had a few gas stoppages but nothing to write home about.
