I'd say you're a troll!

Care to back that up with the slightest bit of evidence or are all males trolls by merit of being born with genitalia different to your own?

You're the one dispensing provocative hateful tripe like this...

This is a rather silly thread.

I wouldn't necessarily consider it a thread fail. But in terms of her listening to others valid points of view, she definately has a way to go.

She needs to open her mind, and just maybe, that's what we're here to do.

Remember Animal Farm? She is on that level...some are more equal than others.

I'm making a choice to treat you all as arrogantly as you treat me. It's not for lack of ability to get along with you, it's for lack of motivation. I've tried my best to be civil to everyone that's made a civil post that wasn't a troll. There's a big difference between respectfully disagreeing and arrogantly disagreeing. Right now I'm arrogantly disagreeing with you.

But you have been arrogantly disagreeing with every one of my responses.

You do not inquire why? You just judge.

Breathe deep, start asking why people think the way they do, even though you disagree with them.

It's called dialogue.

Endurance is a combination of mental will and physical conditioning.
In my opinion, it has nothing to do with gender. I am not sure you can even measure will.

Funny how that seems ubiquitous to you for anyone with a Y chromosome.

Yes, there are differences between men and women and men are sometimes better at things than women and other times it is the other way around. However, I have NEVER heard or witnessed women being better at endurance - that's rubbish.

Here's an example - pro tennis. Men play 5 sets of tennis, which is after swimming the most tasking sport out there, using up some 10,000 calories per match. Women on the other hand play 3 sets. It has been attempted in the past to have women also play 5 sets but the attempts were unsuccessful due to women not being able to last for 5 sets of game play - it was reverted back to 3 sets max for women's game.

Keep in mind that this is pro tennis where the competitors are the BEST trained people in the world.

Women have many, many amazing attributes and excel in various fields, but men are built tougher, stronger and can endure more - to state otherwise is just, well... silly.

P.S. Amazing record of male endurance in sports: Isner - Mahut (Wimbledon 2010) match lasted 683 minutes, over 11 hours in length! Isner/Mahut

I guess us uneducated masses overwhelmed her.

Logic wins the day again!

So much for endurance....

Yep, there's much psychological projection and transference from the OP upon the male ATS members. I'm just glad the community can see it for what it is rather than getting sucked into male vs female flame war as unsuccessfully attempted by the OP. The last thing this world and indeed ATS needs is more contempt.

I guess you missed my post about you being hopelessly out of date and slightly offensive. A fact that's probably not very obvious to you because no one has ever told you that women are not to be reffered to as objects. I know where your opinion comes from, if you were capable of presenting it without being offensive I might even listen to it. Generally speaking, you call me an object, you say women are for sex, you lose any credability with most any woman. They may not tell you this (it's a waste of time), but you do.

Why not have mixed olympics then, surely that would show who is strongerst, fastest etc etc? and why are mens times for both short and long distance running better than womens?

your locis that pound for pound argument is totaly absurd. You are talking about the difference between men and women then want to select something that takes the difference away. Mens brains are bigger than womens pound for pound so does that mean mens brains are better? surely it does if you want to go down that road of comparing pound for pound?

Fact is women are women and men are men and to change anything about that is absurd (you are talking about men and women, not what if etc etc). There is no women stronger, faster or has more endurance than a man...simple fact.

Women have a stonger pain threshold than men, can multi task better than men, have a wider scope of vision than men but are not stronger or faster. Men do not give birth so do not need the greater pain threshold women have. Men think better analyticaly (concentrate on 1 or 2 things) better than women. mens vision is more consentrated to what they are focusing on (we used to be hunters after all).

I think the differences between men and women make them equally great and whay cant some women be happy with being women in all their greatness and stop trying to be men!

one thing that could help women have more endurance though is that womans fat is structured criss-crossed and therefore harder to use up (meaning energy released at a slower pace) meaning that energy should last longer over longer distances, but the lack of heart, lung and muscle efficiency that men have may cancel that beneift out.

regarding your thread title....pics or it didnt happen!

Have you ever participated in any endurance sports or hobbies? From my experience beginner female mountain bikers consistently do much better than beginning men. They also continue to be capable of lasting longer but men tend to catch back up as training goes by because their strength comes into play. In fact my riding partner typically does the same climbs as me in a higher gear, meaning his strength is getting him to the top while my endurance is helping me. Beyond my personal accounts there is science to prove this earlier in the thread.

Yeehaa! you're back!

No! Women are just not for sex...really? Are you that thin skinned? Many of my post refered to humor, not putting down the opposite sex.

You have to ask questions rather than defend a undefensable viewpoint that you, youself have put across.

I would challange you to any sports activity, just for grins and giggles, and probably beat you at it. But if you beat me, I would accept it graciously. Such is life.

I am as competitive as the next person, but I don't let it consume me....I let it drive on to bigger and better things.

Yes, of course I have, why do you think I brought up tennis? I have played with many female players over the years, and when I do it's a fun match, an exhibition match. On the other hand, when I play against men it's a competition and much tougher and more exhausting.

When I play with fellow female players, I also hit the balls with less power so as not to tire them even quicker, so my having more muscle strength doesn't come into play since I'm not playing at 100%.

I don't even know how to explain this to you differently. If you could spend a day in this world playing sports as a male, you'd drop this topic very quickly and see it for what it is.

I've played some tennis before. I wouldn't consider a sport that has frequent stopping with fluries of activities a real test of endurance. I'm sorry but tennis is not what the article is about. It's about continueous cardiovascular activity, not hitting the ball harder or lighter in an attempt to wear out your opponent.

per their size

Don't skip over this fine print, folks.

Honestly, it doesn't make sh^t difference to me, women can be just as great as athletes as men can be, but seriously, these threads need to stop popping up. First about women in the army and now this. Sure, there are sexists out there, but you can't convince them to be otherwise.

Main point, though.. Women and Men are NOT the same. Emotionally, physically, mentally.. in fact, everyone is different, but comparing genders is like comparing apples to oranges.

so were discussing some mythical creature that doesnt exist..a pound for pound woman?

also lets not skip over the title either....clearly wrongly worded.

men are men and women are women and they are as nature intended (enjoy the differences!), stop trying to dream up a hypothetical senario that suits some sexist views.

to the OP, your a woman, enjoy it and all your glory. Women are one of the best creations in the universe in my opinion so why change something that is already perfect?

Wow... I'm at a loss for words. In order to prevent myself for slipping into what you call arrogant responses I will leave this topic. You are a troll OP and very ignorant.

If you do not want to discuss sports please change the name of the topic from "Women are better endurance athelettes than men.," to "I think women are better, but I don't really wish to discuss facts in sports".

Cheers!

It is a fact that tennis was not used in the article for comparison. It's also a fact that tennis is not regarded as an endurance sport. By your thinking most proffesional sports would be endurance sports. Just because endurance is a factor does not make it an endurance sport.

Endurance sports
