What people failed to notice here is that NASA basically announced that aliens are for real. What they are just discussing is what the aliens will do to us. The presence of aliens have been stated as facts.

Not quite. The report is a scenario analysis.

Would contact with extraterrestrials benefit or harm humanity? A scenario analysis

While humanity has not yet observed any extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI), contact with ETI remains possible

The people at NASA are worried about jobs, so they are stealing ideas from Hollywood and calling them scientific reports. Just add a dash of Global warming and a booming population.

BAM-O! Instant scientific publishing acclaim. And that particular crew who wrote that, their jobs are good for the next six months.

This is plagerism, pure and simple.

Spred love instead of hate? Nice concept....but we live in a VERY real world. Don't get me wrong...it would please me to no end to see people caring about each other more...but the LOVE GENERATION....turned into the GIMMIE MINE! generation.
I am new to this board and since no one really knows me....I will say this...I have EXTENSIVE experience in dealing with all types of people in many different places globaly. In all that time...even though I have met some very honest and brave individuals....I have also met many people who seem to be a short time removed from an animalistic, quick to anger, violent in their reaction to anything unknown and self rightious in their opinions and stated understandings of what they believe REALLY goes on in the world.
Hoping for people to change how they act and understand is a very dificult thing. Most react VIOLENTLY when confronted with ANY type of new or unknown concepts or ideas. And THIS is why existance of E.T. has been kept under wraps....and in my opinion...for now....it is a GOOD thing. Split Infinity

Shawn Domagal-Goldman of Nasa's Planetary Science Division and his colleagues compiled a list of plausible outcomes that could unfold in the aftermath of a close encounter, to help humanity "prepare for actual contact".

The if's in their language are getting smaller.

As it pertains to your post....why do you think they stopped funding SETI? It was because they already KNOW E.T. to be a fact and to waste money on a program looking for something you already know is there....is well....stupid. Split Infinity

wait a second, from hoping to find microscospic traces of life one second, and them jumping to speculation about a interstellar race of aliens who like terrorist seem to want to wipe us out for whatever reason this time.
thats quite a big stretch, even for nasa.

i mean if one was to post in ats the kind of stuff nasa has been releasing lately.
one would be laughed at, ridiculed and ostracized.
but since its nasa, some just go in awe.

nasa has been clearly dumbing down its public relations in the past decades.

wich tells me that NASA means NADA these days.

So more or less the plot to the remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still"?

The only way we would be a threat to other civilizations is if we actually gave a damn about getting out into space besides moon hopping. We've had decades to try but never do for a million reasons. Thing is if we did actively try, it would probably change our perspective as a people in a good direction and more than likely help us mend our wanton ways somewhat.

Personally I think it would be a good shake up of the galactic order if we managed to get out there as we are now. There either emotionless clods or super hippies... mankind could be the new and exciting facit.

Why do people assume that aliens think like us? And by the way which race of the possible million different alien races out there are we talking about? each with different ways of thinking ( or maybe some don't even think
)
Which of those are watching earth if any?

If they did want to destroy earth because humans might be a threat.....doesn't that sound like a VERY human way of thinking? e.g USA style of thinking?

The fact it, it's almost impossible to "know" what aliens are thinking, without meeting them first, especially when we don't know "which" alien race were talking about here.

but the question remains.

do we really deserve to populate the stars and spread around the galaxy?
when we still dont quite know or understand what lies in our thickest jungles or the bottom of our oceans...

priorities right?

i say deny that ignorance first, then we may proceed into space exploration.

I hope they don't think like us. I hope they don't know what money and property are. I hope they don't engage in futile and bloody wars. I hope they don't take advantage of each other. I hope they don't sell fear to their people. I hope they act and think nothing like us!

Why would an advanced Alien Race worry about us? We can hardly get a Shuttle into orbit and back without blowing it up. To talk about this issue a person must first understand that as far as how Aliens View Humanity....is lesser in scale of our possibility of being a threat than Humans view a Butterfly being a threat to us.

They are not concerned with us to the point of how a person is concerned with the moon crashing into the Earth....but even less so. This is OUR PROBLEM....as it took a long time just to get them to agree....and not all of them....to limit their activities on this planet to be as covert as possible....and they didn't even uderstand the concept to begin with.

You can't associate how we think and feel and percieve the Universe to how THEY do. There are few similarities and any concept of an Advanced Alien Culture have a similar sence....or any....of morality or concepts of right and wrong....is foolish. They do not think as we do nor do they even comprehend things that we would find as invasive or criminal.

To get a better picture of these differences....a person could observe the behavior of say....an Ant or a Bee colony as apposed to a single Humans concept of self determination and rights. I have never heard of an ant stop dismembering a possible food source or percieved threat....because it decieded it was WRONG.

There is an article at Discovery.com that is basically saying the same thing, only with more of the "humans are bad" propaganda. Here's a thought, maybe it's not human's individually that are so bad, maybe, just MAAAYBE, it's our leaders that take us down that path.

Oh NASA, you're so silly! We do need to clean up this planet and stop supporting those who would pollute and destroy it, I'm looking at you Big Oil, but we don't need an alien invasion to light a fire under our asses. Either we clean up our act or the world is destroyed by our own doing, not Aliens. Although, this fits nicely with the NWO Fake Alien invasion conspiracy.

Rising greenhouse emissions may tip off aliens that we are a rapidly expanding threat, warns a report for Nasa

It may not rank as the most compelling reason to curb greenhouse gases, but reducing our emissions might just save humanity from a pre-emptive alien attack, scientists claim. Watching from afar, extraterrestrial beings might view changes in Earth's atmosphere as symptomatic of a civilisation growing out of control – and take drastic action to keep us from becoming a more serious threat, the researchers explain. This highly speculative scenario is one of several described by scientists at Nasa and Pennsylvania State University that, while considered unlikely, they say could play out were humans and alien life to make contact at some point in the future.

The problem is not that we have a civilization that is growing out of control.

The problem is that our whole planet is run by greedy corrupt people. Each and every nation.
Get rid of the ruling class and start over - but I doubt that will happen without alien intervention.
In the mean time, stop supporting the elites who run the global slave state.

To anyone believing this to their core:

You need to be placed in a sensory deprivation tank for 2 months and constantly feed 4-way window pane and '___' with music and color force-fed therapy.
