If you look at how tax rates developed ever since Reagan, you realize that there's been a HUGE redistribution of wealth from the poor and middle class to the top 1%. This is an undeniable FACT!

And whereas the poor and middle class spend all their money on tangible stuff inside the US, rich people invest it where the returns are greatest...ASIA! So all those tax breaks don't actually help the US economy, contrary to what the politicians want you to believe.

Then lets STEAL IT!!!
(you grab the torches, I'll grab the pitchforks)

Lets TAKE their money. Lets steal it. Hey, I got a great idea! -ding!-
Lets elect a president that will steal it for us! BONUS!!!
That way we don't get busted for STEALING!!! Because it'll be "legal"!

So according to your "logic", it's only stealing if the poor and middle class do it...yet if the top 1% DEMONSTRABLY do it over the course of 25+ years, it's somehow ok...yeah, makes perfect sense

Also, you obviously aren't a patriot because you don't care about the US economy or how people in general are doing...great attitude.

If they stole their money then they should be arrested.
If they earned it and used existing laws to KEEP it, then to take it away would be. . . .
wait for it. . .
wait for it. . .
STEALING!

What if they stole it and then paid off our government to make their theft legal?

What about the theft of natural resources? What about trying to patent/steal parts of the human body for profit?

I didn't get that he was trying to do that at all.. Seems like just another snide post by you..have read too many "yawn"..

The Op was making a very valid point...guess you just can't give credit where credit is due.
(you remind me of somebody who would get paid to disinfo on this site..considering you have all the flags for such a lame reply.)

Your opinion. You're entitled. Taking something that wasn't earned is theft. No matter how you justify it. Really, I can't make it any plainer.

The first step IMHO is the removal of all lobbying and campaign contributions that give both the rich and their corporations unfair influence over our political leaders. Without that step we will never see politicians vote the conscience of their constituents, only what their corporate masters tell them to vote.

Harper in Canada actually wanted to make a new law pass that political parties would stop getting financed by taxes and to be only privately financed.
He's saying it's too expensive in the budget...

Of course Mr. Harper doesn't care, he's the most corrupted prime minister in my lifetime!

I assume everyone on here is in the bottom 150 million. Can anyone give any proof as to how their life would be better off without the top 500? I bet the majority of the people on the top 500 list got there on their own (ie, they weren't born into wealth.) It's called The American Dream. If your dad was a goat farmer, you don't have to be a goat farmer. I think people forget that there was a time and still are places, like that.
You can become whatever you want and move up socio-economic classes. The fact that there is a middle class is what make America great.

"Rich" has become a bad word in our society with people picturing the "rich" sitting on a yacht sipping martinis with a cigar in their mouth while everyone else slaves away. That's far from the truth. There are several multi-millionaires in my office and you know what? They are the first ones here in the morning and the last ones to leave. A completely unbiased person, looking solely at their work habits and oblivious to the money they make, would say that it's the "rich" who are slaves to their jobs.

If someone is stealing your stuff, why not call the cops?

That's what they are there for.

So become rich and you won't have to worry about it. I'm sure the guys at the top wouldn't mind your company but you have to get there yourself.

Be a doer and not a complainer.

Errroo?
what?...HOLYKRAP!
"KRO32" we completely agree on something

All This "hate the wealthy" whining is trying to justify theft and or pillaging.
Perhaps the true power players(i.e.the "Warren Buffets" and "Bill Gates'") are few and far between; but the "millionaire next door" is probably a quiet plumber or electrician or shop owner...

Let's get deeper:

Envy in one of the 7 deadly "sins" for a very good reason.

Coveting thy neighbors goods is one of the "big 10", also, for a very good reason.

But that was the 2008 election. Stoking the flames of envy and coveting with a heapin', helpin' of revenge thrown in. It's all "their fault" (the rich and businesses) you stubbed your toe last week and everything else bad that's ever happened to you.

Can't do that when the cops have been paid off to not arrest them....which is the case we're in.

No one is referring to the plumber next door who barely brings home a million. People are referring to the filthy rich who have so much money they can't spend it all.

Not the person who's rich because he/she has put in 80 hours for the past 30 years...they earned theirs.

We refer to the filthy rich person who has over 100 million dollars and doesn't do anything for this country anymore.

Nice.
Pass judgement much?
Funny how you folks want to MANDATE what people are supposed to do for the country (read that as government).
You must be part of their inner circle then. To know so much of what they do or not do. Or are you just reading from a script written by those who want class warfare?

You dont need to go out of your way to defend the wealthy - They employ lawers to do that

But seriously, how much harm would a wealth cap do to the world? hmm?

A wealth cap would be just as effective as a "life expectancy" cap. Both would be arbitrary. Both would be determined by governments. Both are judgemental.

AND like I plainly stated above: ... those are few and far between. But, the"eat the rich" revenge legislation afffects the productive people in between.

What is government to you Beezer?

is it a tool to keep your money...or power? It seems to me it is...in fact...you must love government.

Why take your argument to ATS anyway....why don't you go to the local unemployment line and tell those stealing from you how terrible they are. Maybe you'll convert some of them with your unbridled love of country.

Call them all communists and marxists...socialists. Tell them how you truly feel. Go tell the elderly man in the nursing home that you are sick of taking care of his ass....tell him you are tired of paying his health care costs.

Be a patriot.
