When the government tells us, it won't kill us. It usually will............

You're exactly right. Just look at all those times in the past century alone where people claimed we were going to be killed by some celestial object, the government denied it, and then all life was wiped out. I know I've been killed by asteroids, comets, etc. dozens of times.

haha..... i mean it's not funny... but what is funny is how the government can lie to people over and over and we STILL believe it... i for one see the government seal not as a certified truth ful document but as certified crap... *cough* birth certificat.... ahaha... so should we be worried that they are saying that we are perfectly safe? cause i've heard it on cnn too that it was nothing to worry about.... what i don't get is why is elenin getting all this attention in the media when there are other comets and astroids that hardly get any?

Indeed, it is indeed interesting that all the attention has been given to Elenin, when Asteroid YU55 passes by us much, much closer.

Could just al be disinformation , just like a elaborate stage magic trick, look over here but not over there. Its all control and schemes to make the people feel the way TPTB want them to. No one said psychology was a one on one thing.

well yeah, it's not going to hit us so, why should it be a threat to us??? hmm, nasa, it seems to me that you are ignoring the side effects of it passing us..

Next, the government will try to convince us that the comet's effects will be good for us. Yeah, right, that's the ticket! When it passes by, your teeth will be whiter and your pets will never poop in the house again.

For anyone who's been looking at the orbital diagram on the "small body database browser", and there have been quite a lot of you, it shows that *NASA has been saying this all along*.
For months and months, NASA has shown there is no danger to earth.

Conspiratists said the proof was that NASA was keeping quiet about comet Elenin, and not publishing any photos.
Now NASA start mentioning it, conspiratists now say its proof that they're spreading disinformation.

You've gotta choose one or the other, guys.

The reason Elenin is getting so much attention is because of conspiracy theorists. Every day astronomers the world over are getting emails asking if its going to kill us all. Leonid Elenin has gotten so many he has posted multiple articles reassuring people that it is just a normal comet. The reason Elenin is getting so much attention by the media is because fearmongers are drawing attention to it and as a result scientists and the media are getting inundated with emails regarding it. I also would like to point out the hypocrisy regarding this comet. When it was first discovered conspiracy theorists were complaining that since it was getting no coverage the government must be trying to cover it up. Now that its getting coverage conspiracy theorists are claiming that since this is getting so much attention it must be important. Would someone care to tell me how much coverage this comet should be getting to make people stop complaining about the media coverage of it?

This is a big thought...maybe just maybe theyre not lying? Really maybe this thing is no threat whatsoever...and the doomsdayers are wrong again.

You mean the side effects of nothing happening? We won't even pass through its tail at any point so we can't even expect an extra meteor shower this year. This is just getting ridiculous its the 21st century, not the 14th century. There is no reason for people to continue thinking that a comet is a portent of doom. That lesson should have been made abundantly clear in 1910 when we passed through Halley's Comet's tail.
