Bless DRUDGE. Link to results posted on top as "Ron Paul Close Runner-up".

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/b76a9fee85ab.jpg[/atsimg]

Texas Monthly, calling Paul "both deeply principled and wholly uncompromised," wrote in 2001 that he does not take money from political action committees (PACs), is not swayed by Congressional lobbyists, only votes on his "deeply held beliefs" and does not cut "backroom deals." They write, "The phrase ‘honest politician’ is an oxymoron; yet in the sense that Paul never, ever votes against his stated principles… the phrase describes him." Along with not signing up for a Congressional pension, Paul’s Congressional office returns money to the government each year; in 2000, the sum returned was $50,000.[12]

IMHO Ron Paul supporters aren't "fans" or a "cult" but have read enough and know enough to see the corruption in our government and how far we've strayed from enjoying the liberty which should be ours under our Constitution.

Yeah, Bachmann won by 1% over Ron Paul.
I think that our multi-national corporate overlords engineered this.

I'm starting to think that we Democrats and Progressives should support Ron Paul to punish Obama for signing that jobs avoiding agreement.

John McCain placed 10th in 2007 with only 101 votes, yet he was the Republican pick.

It doesn't really matter if Ron Paul had gotten 80% in this poll. The establishment will never let that man become President.

I wonder what will happen if Ron Paul get's less than 5% of the vote again. We won't hear the end of this. Conspiracy, voter rigging, everybody who didn't vote for Ron Paul is an idiot, you name it.

I hope he actually wins a state for the sake of keeping his faithful followers happy and sane.

By the way, I found this on Politico:

www.politico.com...

The title is Bachmann wins Ames straw poll, Pawlenty get's third. This is where I agree with Paulers, he is in many cases being purposefully ignored, but then again maybe people are fimiliar with the polling methods in support of Paul. Politico certainly doesn't take it seriously.

Ah well, still a couple of months till the primaries.

anyway ---- as for Paul's responses to the Iran thing, i agree with the person earlier who said that his answers may have turned a few people off. While i "get" what he was saying about WHY iran would WANT to have a nuke or two (they re surrounded by countries who all have nukes, and they aren't the most liked kid on the block, i think i'd want at least a bee-bee gun myself. lol) - i don't think that the masses in American are ready for that kind of logic. People have been inundated with SO MUCH fear mongering about the "evil people of the middle east" that it is still a very touchy subject. I think Dr. Paul should really roll back on that approach and remember what a sensitive subject that is for many Americans.

It was a wishy washy answer. Hell, all of us could understand why Ireland or Belize would love to have nukes. But so would Somalia and Yemen.

As for Bachman - man, i give her much congratulations on winning the straw poll. and as a woman, i can appreciate the fact that she is now the first woman to ever win the straw poll. But i will not be voting for her. Too many people that run for office, once in office, use that office to promote the agendas of their former employers, and I have no intention of supporting the IRS with my votes. It's bad enough I have to support them with my paycheck.

You have got to be kidding! You think Michelle Bachmann would use the office to promote the agendas of the IRS? Please, tell us how you reached that conclusion.

We'll see if they really have things as locked down as so many believe. In the past they've been pretty good at convincing people through the media that the only viable candidates are the establishment candidates, but the poll in IA seems to have taken them a bit by surprise. The news people this evening on the various MSM outlets had to reluctantly concede that he did much better than they had anticipated. This was an establishment Republican event, and he nearly tied the hometown favorite, even though she brought many more voters and sunk alot more money into it. I think people are genuinely coming around on the whole, to the fact the establishment 2 party scam is just that. They may have their work cut out for them as far as subverting the will of the people in this political climate.

What many have failed to realize is that Romney (the medias pick) didn't win. If this is any indication of the upcoming race, then we may have a chance to turn our country around.
Good on Bachman, good on Paul.
Meh, to the rest.

Now lets talk about the issues.

Good you acknowledge he's being purposely ignored, funny though that it doesn't seem to bother you that they would do that, since it makes it more obvious than ever that the mainstream media is state/establishment controlled. And how did the "polling methods in support of Paul" come into play in the Iowa straw poll, exactly?

don't worry about it, i am fairly sure he didn't grasp most of anything i was saying. that fact is made obvious by his last "nanny nanny boo-boo" post. The tone of that post speaks for itself. That is the tone that is typical of a person who really doesn't know a lot about the subject of which they are speaking.

Don't play 'holier than thou'. You've started off and/or ended most of your responses to him with insults, too.

30 years in office, and 30 years of consistently voting pro-Constitution. And to be in Washington for 30 - 40 years and never once have ANYONE be able to pull some skeleton out of your closet, especially in regards to MONEY... is ... well.... monumental. the man REFUNDS a huge chunk of his budget at the end of every fiscal year.

So you forget that he accepted money from white supremacists and refused to return it.

But of course, his reasons were so esoteric that the common man couldn't possibly understand them, right?

Just something interesting to note:

"This is the very first step toward taking the White House in 2012," Bachmann told a small crowd of supporters outside her campaign bus on the straw poll grounds. "Now it's on to all 50 states."

news.yahoo.com...

A small crowd... yet she wins the straw poll. i Smell funny business as well.

I also think that she butchered the debate. She sounded like a robot with no clear purpose. if you dont wanna support Ron Paul then fine, but why Bachman? And this has nothing to do with women, i just think she did really bad in the debates.

Yeah, all the "multi-national corporate overlords" got together and engineered this unofficial, non-binding poll of less than 17,000 people in the bustling metropolis and globe-setting city of Ames, Iowa, eh?

Bless us and save us.:shk:

Bachmann "ahead by 1%" and CNN plasters her name all over the screen and says nothing about Ron Paul. Total absolute rigging of the vote and control of the populace. Seriously, what else do you expect?

It's fun to have the fantasy that someone like Ron Paul will save us, but it's not going to happen. The corrupt elite are far, far too in control for anything to ever change for the better. Revolution will be the only way.

They're not infallible. The people are angry on a large scale, and the house of cards is falling down. This may be our last chance to turn things around for the better, so we gotta try. If there's a huge groundswell of support for real change, they may not be able to overcome it.

Uhh...because it pisses you off?

Where do you get off with this "if you dont wanna support Ron Paul then fine" crap? Stop being so damn divisive -- and I direct this to all RP supporters! Grow up! This is America, land of the free. Respect your neighbor even if they have a different opinion.

That's my main point...let's revisit this topic when the primaries hit...It will show clearly that RP is fringe (which translates to "popular" on a fringe "nutter" website like ATS). I challenge all ATS'ers to prove me wrong...

RP is a worth nothing, will get nowhere, "waste your vote on me" candidate. SAD, BUT TRUE!!! Doubt me? look at history! he ran and lost...again and again...AND IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN!!

RP 2012 is a fool's bet! ask Vegas to put odds on it...regardless of the odds in his favor, I will bet against....not because I despise him, but because I'm an intelligent individual who will take those odds 7-days a week.

RP is a losing bet...to his supporters, go ahead and vote with your heart...I would too!!! Just don't make excuses when he eats dust...I will saw off & eat my right arm on live web cam if he wins (I triple dog swear) if RP wins the election. NO B.S.!!! hold me to it of S.O. can happily ban me!!!

Fraud started when they allowed for people charged to vote in this poll. You realize that if those who fear what Ron Paul represents will likely stop at nothing to keep their power. That means keeping him out of office.

I just felt like quoting you on this.

Why do you keep bashing Ron Paul so harshly? For what reason?

Have you even listened to anything he has said? Do you have no compassion for the American people or the core values of the United States?

How did you get all that crap you just said from:

I guess it's funny and a bit ironic that your signature:

"Dont like gay marriages? Dont get one.. Dont like cigarettes? Dont smoke them.. Dont like abortions? Dont get one.. Dont like sex? Dont have it.. Dont like drugs? Dont do them.. Dont like porn? Dont watch it.. Dont like alcohol? Dont drink it.. Dont like guns? Dont buy one.. Dont like your rights taken away??? Dont take away someone elses"

Falls about exactly in line with Ron Paul's belief in the United States constitution.
