The majority of the surface is covered with water, yes. As I said, this rock is something special. I would imagine any intellingent life form traveling anywhere near this corner of the galaxy would want to get a closer look at it.

What makes Earth so special, you ask? How common is water in liquid form in our solar system? Our galaxy? How about all the minerals found here on Earth? I would say we're sitting on a real gem here.

The biggest problem with this question is it seems more & more likely that there are plenty of planets out there like Earth. Either we don't know about it or it's being hidden. We are seeing more and more news that Mars has active running water, clouds with moisture, etc. But you could be right that we are of a select few that has all the cominations right.

Well, you also have those cases where science seem to correlate as to what the eyewitnesses claim have happened. These cases are the most compelling, but certainly remains most obscure. You specifically mention youtube videos, which probably is the weakest link to the validity of the phenomenon being real. Easy target right there.

Nonetheless, for those interested, here's a thread by jkrog08 where he presents Three of The Best UFO Trace Cases.

Are UFO's real? It's plausible. Are aliens visiting our planet? Not very likely.

One day you will understand that they were here a lot of decades before us. I do not need to argue you out there on this one I already know what I need to know but think of the mental shock you might when realizing that they are here but that they are even living as everybody does on this planet without you knowing it !!! I wish you good luck on this one, the day will come where you'll get your proof and you will I promise it to you

I feel the same. But lately i have this idea that keeps nagging me about us from the future. We will not look the same (due to all technological process), we will not think the same (due to totally different cultural, social and physiological aspects) and we will need to travel in space to to get to Earth after traveling in time.
Then there is an explanation for reason of visiting - channeling history as it "should" be and maybe for live archeological research/tourism if future us still will care about those.
Just an idea. What do you think?

You are right Water does not seem to be common in our Solar System or Galaxy

I'm sorry but water is abundant in our Solar System and is likely to be common throughout the the Galaxy ,
As for ET visiting the old absence of evidence is not evidence of absence seems appropriate here .

Well my fault.

That again raises the question though, why if water IS ABUNDANT would earth be so special then?
That would mean the aliens have plenty of other places to look..

To believe aliens are visiting Earth, you really have to open your mind.

The universe is millions of years old, its very possible that a civilization exsists that is millions of years older than life on Earth. Even with intelligence similar to humans, they could have technology that makes navigating the stars a reasonable possibility.

Modern man has only been around a few thousand years and we have the means to reach other planets in our solar system. Our computing technology doubles roughly every 18 months on average. Imagine what humans will be able to do in say, 100 years. Or imagine going back in time and trying to convince a cowboy that in 50 years a man will walk on the moon.

In the universe, anything is possible.

It could be they dont have a choice as to where to go.
The wormhole or whatever they use to get here may just send them to one spot.
They may not have a return route..the trip may be one way.
Why would they do this ? I dont know . Curious ? Save their race ? Establish a portal ?

We have more water than planet in the rest of the planets in our solar system. We have minerals, oil etc and we have life and intelligent life at that so this would be a perfect planet to visit.

There are millions of tons of asteroids floating round our universe that are frozen ice and countless more that contain minerals. If an advanced alien race can navigate the vaste emptyness of space i dont think they are going to be to phased by water that if frozen rather than liquid.

Theres no need to come to our planet and take the risk of being shot down etc.

If life is everywhere in the gallaxy then our life must be pretty damn boring to an advanced alien race. I mean we have only had electricity for 100 years. I know we like to think we are amazing but we are probably like simple bacteria compared to other life forms out there. On top of that we tend to try to kill anything we dont understand. Stupid and dangerous , thats what we are at the moment. If i was an advance alien race id give Earth a wide birth. Maybe have a quick peek from a long , long distance but in general i wouldnt be flying around in Earths lower atmosphre a few hundred feet off the surface with lights on my craft making crop circles etc..

Billions or more, not millions.

In the mere 100 years humans have pee'd away the planets entire Crude Oil sources....we ain't got much to show for it.

A Poisoned planet and oceans and destroyed our own DNA....I guess that counts.

You're entitled to your opinion. I would like to point out that we have had physical evidence in the form of chemical residue, radiation residue and physical properties that have altered the physical properties of plants due to landings. There are videos out there that are not just blurry or lights in the sky. Lets not forget crop circles, which some people say are made by men with 2x4's. There really hasn't been any solid proof that an intricate and complicated crop circle that changes the physical properties of plants can be duplicated in the middle of the night.

Roswell is just one of many cases of alien visitation. Do the research and just don't rely on Roswell. Here are some additional hard to explain contacts made between aliens and humans.

1. The Allagash Incident

2. The Travis Walton Story

3. The Rendlesham Forest Incident

4. The Shag Harbour Incident

5. David Adair

6. The Falcon Lake Incident

7. The Phoenix Lights

8. Kecksburg Incident

9. Barney and Betty Hill Abduction

10. JAL Flight

11. Tehran, Iran Incident

12. The 2001 National Press Conference Disclosure Project

And this is just a handful of incidents and witnesses I feel are hard to explain away. There are a lot of mysteries in this world and science doesn't always have the answers.

If they're here - AND SOMETHING DEFINITELY IS - it's probably not for the water.

You say water is common in our solar system? That's news to me. It's appears Mars may have water, in liquid form, and which other. Common would suggest, maybe every other planet. Doubt it. I'm no expert but everyone I've heard talk about planets says Earth like planets are not a dime-a-dozen.

Earth-kind planets are certainly not the most common type,at least as far as we know. But even in Solar system Europa (not EU
) has lots of water. And Europeans (not citizens of EU but guys from Europa) also say that their home is not the most common type. Those egocentric specieists, thinking that alien life can evolve only on planets near orbiting gas giants and with heavy radiation!

1. The Allagash Incident - nonsense

2. The Travis Walton Story - interesting in that he seems genuine, and a weird story

3. The Rendlesham Forest Incident - utter nonsense

4. The Shag Harbour Incident - interesting

5. David Adair - idiot

6. The Falcon Lake Incident - nonsense

7. The Phoenix Lights -nonsense

8. Kecksburg Incident - nonsense

9. Barney and Betty Hill Abduction - loosers

10. JAL Flight - nonsense

11. Tehran, Iran Incident - interesting

12. The 2001 National Press Conference Disclosure Project - nonsense

To answer the OP, I'm as certain as I can be that no aliens have ever visited earth. I acknowledge it isn't totally impossible, but i've never seen any compelling evidence that would lead me to think otherwise.

Why?

When we study some vastly inferior life form do we care about whatever we are studying knowing we are doing it?
