Anyway, I think about the disaster in Japan almost every day..

Yeah me too.

It's quite the mental exercise, and there are so many countless facets of it that you could never find out half of it within a year.

I suppose what you and I are both worried about, is that we know deep inside that the future 100 years will be far more unbelievable and disturbing than anything we have seen yet.

I agree with the poster who said this is the single most critical and crucial event in our human history, and not just Fukushima but Nuclear Technology altogether. There are tons of these materials all over the place, and so what we really need to do is create a transition period where we can go through the entire process of collecting all of our extremely dangerous materials and storing them safely until we can determine exactly how to transmute them into safe byproducts.

Point is we just need to realize as a species to move beyond the Nuclear Age into the Post-Nuclear Age where other alternative energy sources are considered, especially solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, etc, which have barely been tapped into yet.

We are suppose to be caretakers of Earth, and in fact, scientifically speaking, if we do not protect our habitat we will die with it.

Why are all of the soldiers of the nations fighting each other or training to fight each other? Shouldn't they be out fighting pollution and global criminal networks that dump all this junk illegally on our land, in our rivers and oceans, and in our air?

So what are the Casino Odds on this game really? Ask yourselves...
Do you have more chances of being killed by terrorists or more chances of being contaminated by negligent corporations or governments?

And let's ignore that guy who said Fukushima was a non-event. He was just trying to stir the pot for fun. No one with a clue would ever say that, unless they thought it was funny to watch ATSers flame him.

Would like to add another article that talks about this, given to me by Arkansas (thanks by the way)

Pockets of lethal levels of radiation have been detected at Japan's crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in a reminder of the risks faced by workers battling to contain the worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl.

Read more at:

www.msnbc.msn.com...

Thanks to all who responded and who are responding, mass media for the most part have forgotten about this, but we have not.

.. on a daily basis too here..
I got a friend there, around Nagoya and he doesn't bother too much.
He was supposed to visit us this summer but he wont.

Me and my friends (his too) started speculate the other day about it, since he's married there.
Its either,
a) He's badly informed.
b) Its a Romeo and Juliet sort of thing?
c) Radiation affect judgement.
d) Censorship.
e) Human can now co exist with higher lvl of rads. ... by drinking red bull..???

And i was considering myself crazy about taking wwerry long vacation in the southern hemi.
nice thread btw.

Would it be considered bad form to point out the irony of decrying the msm for lack of serious coverage while linking to an MSNBC article from today titled Death in seconds: Radiation pockets found at Fukushima plant?

The nips got caught lying again...so where are the suicides at high levels from shame at being caught out and losing face?...A true son of nippon would do away ith himself over a mess such as this....

I just got back from Hawaii, and I remember when this crisis first started there were various map charts with possible nuclear fallout that could spread across the globe. Does anyone have a good reputable source where one might find those? I think TEPCO has been lying from the start and they are just now admitting to the tip of the iceberg which we all saw from the get go....

they suppressed them...like they did the readings they took in NW Washington over a period of two weeks...no data out there at all for us to see

Peak radiation spots found at Fukushima plant

news.cnet.com...
Interesting picture. Now if the Japanese people would realize, yes there are lethal monsters you can not see or feel wiithout specialized equipment that can and WILL kill you.............

It's worth noting that in that article TEPCO itself acknowledges the pockets, too.

Tepco said Tuesday it found another spot on the ventilation stack itself where radiation exceeded 10 sieverts per hour, a level that could lead to incapacitation or death after just several seconds of exposure.

So I think that's fairly conclusive. As always skepticism is my course, but I think unless the media is out and out lying, at this point we can conclude that these pockets due exist.

Good catch.

Last I had heard....yes the story seems to be over, they were detecting gamma rays. Does it get worse?! From my understanding the only way gamma rays exist in the universe is when a star goes supernova. So yeah, could it get worse?!

No its not your fault, its your countries fault and the worlds fault for sweeping it under the rug like everything is fine and they fixed it....majority of the world thinks the fukishima disaster is over life went back to normal its kinda sad really

It is amazing just how blind the general population is to this. I brought this subject up to four of my co-workers today, and they looked at me like I was nuts.

They insisted there was no problem existing today, and that everything was in control within 2 weeks of the earthquake, and no radiation could have possibly reached the U.S.

I have a good friend coming here to live.
He lives in San Diego and tastes what seems to be a metallic taste in his foods and water. Could it be?
I grow all my foods in a green house and use my well water.
Have tented house just in case. Any way that helps keep that G-d Sun from burning a whole in my roof. Damn it Hot up here in the Smokies. Do you think something is weird about that?
Oh, no dairy products at all either.

Jet stream is usually north of us but we're at 3200 feet.

This event has seemed to "disappear" by the MSM,they dont even report on it anymore..

Them pictures of the "double-fish" and cattle are just disturbing.

What are we doing to this place and its lifeforms!

In my opinion, Japan is uninhabitable....it just depends on how many hundreds of thousand of Japanese die before they realize they have to give up their homeland.

Well if that isn't fear mongering at it's finest! We had Chernobyl and yes there was a zone that became uninhabitable. But that does not mean that all Japan will become uninhabitable. In Chernobyl a small area of Ukraine and Belarus became uninhabitable. This will be the case here too if of course something disastrous doesn't happen there - which I hope won't. YES maybe the evacuation zone will become a little bigger but no need to evacuate ALL JAPAN. Yes maybe East side of Fukushima prefecture but nothing more.

Think Chernobyl x6 lol...

And if you really want to ignore the dramatic increase in cancer all over Europe after Chernobyl be my guest, entire generations of adults are dropping like flies all over Europe because of cancers in the past 10 years, not to mention the enormous amounts of childhood leukemias and the likes.

Just stick your head in the sand like the rest of the "Chernobyl didnt cause the planet to die either" crowd because the planet won't die of it indeed, just all organic lifeforms that require division of cells to grow.

next to that Chernobyl got capped and these babies are all venting radiation right into the atmosphere.

Nothing to see here indeed since radiation is invisible.. Just wait a decade or 2..
