Making an avatar is easy (Simple How To)

YAY and I think I have I saw it not too long ago I was at my grandma's house for a family gathering. We were all sitting by the fire Drinking and joking (What my family does best ) And I looked over my shoulder and behind me I saw a really bright star.I got up to get a better look at it and I noticed It was changing colors and slightly moving. Normally I would think nothing of this just assume it was a plane or something but as I stared at it I noticed It wasn't moving enough to be a plane but it was too clearly moving to snuff it off as a weird star.
I personally believe It might have been one but I'm not too sure what do you think ?

This is the an older ATS the Buttons are the same just the graphics slightly different in the first few seconds but once you change to the media center it is up to date I believe.

In this video when selecting background it goes to the ATS store. This in not the case any longer, please copy the background url instead of clicking the link.
Then go to Tools on ATS and paste the url into the background link and submit

The Picture I want to use is apparently too big.

I have it saved in my ATS folder already.

How do I resize it to get the proper size but yet keep the picture intact?

I'm not the best at it but just post the link here and maybe I can re-size it. we have lots of members who enjoy making avatars and backgrounds you can find threads in the Off Topic forums, (Old BTS)

I'm not positive BUT If you go to google Images and find the Image again where It says how big it is It should say other sizes right under it (Or atleast In the same box)

Awesome Man I'm not Extremely into Slipknot like used to be but still there a good band but I'm gonna stop talking about this Because It's so off topic not that this thread really follows all the rules anyway

anyone in the mind of installing an avatar and or a back ground image please keep the file sizes in mind.
They do not only not show properly they also skew your members profile page when they are to large.

Avatars

Maximum pixel dimensions: 170 pixels wide by 240 pixels high.

Maximum file size: Remains 75k

Because the layout parameters for page structure is different than the old per-2010 format, overly-tall avatars can make the thread-view a very-tall page.


Mini-Profile Background Images

A common method used by many members to "workaround" the avatar size limitation is to use a mini-profile background image, and a clear-GIF avatar. We will continue to encourage this level of creativity in conjunction with the new avatar limitations.

Pixel Space: The new "visible" space for background images is 180 pixels wide and 400-480 pixels tall (depending on other factors in your mini-profile).

Maximum Pixel Dimensions: Maximum allowable mini-profile backgrounds will be 200 pixels wide by 700 pixels tall. Smaller images are repeated in the background space.

Maximum File Size: Maximum file size for mini-profile backgrounds is 100k if you're using a clear-GIF as your avatar, if not, the combined file size of your avatar and background image cannot exceed 150k.

Animated backgrounds are not allowed.

Background colors and imagery that obscure your member name are not allowed.

I know i have got lost in a few larger ones with links and outside sources. I have fallen asleep with my computer!

If you like UFOs and such you would probably like my first link in my signature.

Anon I can resize it for you if you send me a link where I can download the pic

I use flickr to resize pics and it takes no time at all

HAHAHA! Yeah my first night on ATS I fell asleep in my chair in the living room

One of the first things that freaked me out and kept me up at night was a thread on etheral spiders the thought of spiders from the ether crawling all over me at night scared the crap out of me. Spiders in real life freak me out let alone ones that glow

I am up every morning around 6-7am and I go to bed fairly early but I wake up in the middle of the night for a few hours, insomnia is a pain! So I just read ATS and hit up chat.....OH CHAT! When you have 200 posts you need to come to chat! If you look at the menu bar there is a "Chat" one, just click it and it will open a chat window. The site rules STILL apply in chat so make sure you have read those, don't wanna see you chat banned for something silly...it has happened! We discuss everything in there, ATS topics and non ATS topics. Also if you haven't heard of the ATS Live show, check out that forum. There are various shows and times throughout the week. Each one has a theme, like the survival show, the politics show, the Euro show and so on. You can even call in via Skype and participate in the show's topics, they love callers. I have called in a few times and I love it! Also you can follow along in the chat room during shows. Their topics will always be ATS related and they discuss various threads and those change weekly.....Anyway check it out tonight!!!

If you look at the ribbon at the bottom right corner, click on it and there will be an ATS LIVE tab, you can click that and listen that way or use Illustrial.
