Please make a distinction between the falsely pious and the truly pious. I can imagine certain religious people being hateful and I can imagine other religious people being willing to die before causing decay in themselves or others. Blanket statements such as yours are hardly productive and are quite vulgar (by the truest sense of the word). I'd rather you use "4 letter words" and communicate something definite than use terms and phrases entirely lacking poignancy.edit on 7/26/2011 by Dasher because: grammatical correction.

Deny ignorance, my friend.
Religion is what's causing the most harm in the Middle East. Sorry to bring the "vulgar" truth.

Please please please let the Palestinians and Israeli people join solidarity against their common foe - fascist capitalist pigs. This could bring peace to the middle east.

Organized religion is what's causing the most harm to the whole world. The lynching of children in Africa, the current problems in the Middle East, the pain and suffering of who-knows-how-many children and families by the pedophile Catholic priests, the sheer toture of the presence of Sarah Palin in the MSM, and who can forget the ancient crusades? It is now and always been.

Good find. I did some searching and found a few other links about these protests.
news.yahoo.com...
Tens of thousands of Israelis marched in the coastal city of Tel Aviv on Saturday to protest against rising housing prices and social inequalities in the Jewish state, an AFP correspondent said.
Brandishing banners and slogans which read "We want justice, not charity" and "When the government is against the people, the people are against the government", demonstrators from all over Israel rallied in support of hundreds of people who have set up protest camps against the government's economic and social policies.
english.peopledaily.com.cn...
Israelis, fed up with high housing prices, ramped up ongoing protest actions in different cities on Monday, including blocking roads in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beersheba, and other locations.
In line with the public discontent, Israeli medical staffers are also staging demonstrations and strikes against low salaries and what they view as poor working conditions, that left most Israeli hospitals understaffed on Monday.
Looks like these protests were organized over the internet again to
www.theepochtimes.com...
What started as a small protest on Facebook by Daphni Leef, 26, a freelance filmmaker protesting high rents on July 14, has spread across the country. For over a week, “tent cities” have sprouted up around the country, starting with 10 tents on Rothschild Blvd. in Tel Aviv. By Saturday night, tens of thousands of people from across Israel rallied in central Tel Aviv.
Speakers who took the stage at Saturday’s rally were not politicians, but teachers, social workers, and students demanding not only rent reductions and more housing, but lower prices on basic food items, changes to the education system, and better salaries in the health system.
Also, from what I understand, it seems that the government is okay with the protest. They said something along the lines of, "we know about these problems, and we are trying to help solve them"edit on 26-7-2011 by buni11687 because: (no reason given)
Tents on Rothschild blvd... How ironic. I love it!!!

Rest assured, these demonstrations have nothing to do about neither peace or the Palestinians. Stop trying to link between two completely different issues. It's anti-government, anti-Bibi, yes, but not due to the reasons you convince yourselves about.
If anyone is really interested in this demonstrations, and is not in this thread only to yell anti Israeli BS, this is how it goes -
This is about an economical struggle of the mid-class citizens in Israel, and the exceptional high price of apartments. An average monthly rental fee of an average apartment in Tel Aviv for example, is 4000 NIS (roughly 1200$). A really small one costs 3000 a month (about 900$).
There is one possible way around this, which is purchasing an apartment through a mortgage loan.. yet, this requires one to pay a starters price of a certain % of the apartment's worth, which is (if you're talking about an average apartment) 300,000 NIS - 88300$ more or less.
Not only does an average Israeli cannot afford such a high price, even if he could, he is basically enslaved for tens of years to the mortgage system which eventually costs him more or less the same amount of money spent even if he ended up renting an apartment for so long. His children will enjoy a real estate property though.
Another demonstration is held by the vast majority population of intern doctors, who receive pathetic salaries considering their demanding jobs. Currently hundreds of doctors have resigned (26.7) and caused a havoc in the medical sect.
Is the government in trouble? Could very well be. Lots of people have had enough being poorer and poorer while suffering harsher taxes every year while the major corporations and the rich population are enjoying a lightened grip of taxes with each and every year.
Is the population going to do something about it? Probably not more than quiet demonstrations. Israeli public is very obedient and submissive to authority, and I'm ashamed to say it. From what I can see, we lack the fighting spirit of our cousins the Arabs, when it comes to go out against your own government at the risk of losing it all.
Am I for the downfall of this government? Hell yeah!
Should this be of any political use against Israel? In my opinion, no. This has nothing even remotely relevant to peace, war, army, palestinians, neighboring countries etc. Using this solely social demonstration as a tool to bash Israel's policy in Gaza is amusing at best.

Yes.
Wouldn't you want a rebellion against greedy bankers and corrupted governments?
I wanted to add that your comment made me smile only because the more prominent global bankers are of Jewish descent and the irony is what enticed the innocent smirk.
What does the ethnic or religion of global bankers have to do with any of this? Are they directly related to the Israeli government? Can they be tied up together with the same definition as 'the state of Israel' or 'government of Israel'?
Lots of muslims beat their wives. If a honest muslim man gets shot by his wife, will you smirk too because of the irony in that?
There is nothing related between the Israeli government making life hard for the average Israeli, and bankers of Jewish origin.edit on 26-7-2011 by IsraeliGuy because: (no reason given)
