Unfortuately the pictures dont want to be linked , sorry about that . please click the above link .

Comet Hartley 2 can be seen in glorious detail in these images from NASA's EPOXI mission. The comet's nucleus, or main body, is approximately 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) long and .4 kilometers (.25 miles) at the "neck," or most narrow portion.

Now where are the pictures of Elenin ? These may have been taken from a flyby of Hartley 2 but for godness sake are we still soaking up blurry images of something which is just about right next to us ? Jus over there ?
Come on we're not stupid - look at this thing . WTF IS that man ?

Can someone help get the images on here please TY

Here is a link to wiki description of comets . There is no upper limit on size of comets .

Comets also contain a variety of organic compounds; in addition to the gases already mentioned, these may include methanol, hydrogen cyanide, formaldehyde, ethanol and ethane, and perhaps more complex molecules such as long-chain hydrocarbons and amino acids.[12][13][14] In 2009, it was confirmed that the amino acid glycine had been found in the comet dust recovered by NASA's Stardust mission.[15]

Fix the links please someone, i agree with this thing coming at us i thought that we would be seeing more pictures of it by now from amateurs and professionals.

Image links are not working, only the first link.
Impressive images on it, anyway.

Me thinking also that maybe it's about time to see Elenin a bit clearer.

I really want to see the second image there link still broken.

The view of comets is tough due to the coma of dust and stuff, so you need to really get A LOT closer to the center before the images wont just be of a haze of dust.

Though im looking forward to better than we have now in any case

I don't get this thread at all. So you have some pics of Hartley 2 up close, nice, it looks like a peanut.
And all I can say is there are loads of pics of Elenin out there if you look.
But I'm not sure what you're getting at in the first place, what are we supposed to be looking for on the Hartley pics?

Try some comparison to detail with the loads of pictures of elenin . I dont clearly see a ball of dust even , justa blurry smear. Compared with these pics of Hartley ; is what is there of Elenin really acceptable ? you answer>>

Hi Zipmatt,

I saw the man as soon as anon72 posted the image the 1st time. It sorta reminds me of something from Warhammer 40K. In that sci fi universe all the interstellar ships are Gothic looking with figurines incorporated with their superstructure. My post got a bunch of stars and very little comment. I guess it was too freaky, even for pareidolia

The difference : I dont see clearly see a ball of dust but a blurry smear as pictures of elenin . But here we see in great detail with much clarity . You explain why there is a difference . Elenin is hardly any distance away .

Nice. With this i am now sure they'd be able to disintegrate the ones they know about, those that could be possible threats.

The reason there is a difference is because one picture was taken at an incredibly close distance from a probe designed for close fly bys of asteroids and the like and the pictures on Earth are taken from telscopes on the ground at incredibly huge distances. Obvious really. Elenin is a long way away compared to the distances that the Deep Impact probe takes it's photos from.

ok theres a start , but where is the probe now then ? decommissioned as the shuttles are ? there are telescopes in orbit , why arent these being used ? they could take pictures without the glare of the sun . dont tell me they are all pointed this way , and lets not get on to stock photos or not on google sky of planets like saturn . Or horses head nebula so very far away . we dont just swallow some bull . provide a clear cut picture of elenin , and dont stand up for liars ; you dont know whos listening .

While nasa are saying elenin is 4 km across , that makes elenin 10 times the girth this thing has. (.4km)

You can't look at that linked imaged of Comet Hartley and wonder about the conventional explanations that we are spoonfed about comets. As I've said, comets are the UFO of deep space. As with typicial UFO seen here near Earth, they will muster any explanation they can to explain away these unexplainable objects.

Basically, we should consider that the big, bright long-period comets and the short-period comets that magically appear in near-Earth orbits are controlled by intelligence. Most all of those found by SOHO as they fall into the Sun are basically cosmic debris, not true comets at all, falling into the furnace as most things should when falling in from a far distance. But the big, bright long-period comets rarely do that. Actually, they tend to fall ahead of the Sun to get a better velocity for when they round the Sun to return to the places from which they came.

Yes, I believe the craft has now been switched off and is in a continous orbit of the sun. I'm not sure if it can even be switched back on.
I don't know, for the most part the telescopes are designed for deep space viewing but even when pointed at closer objects they are not going to provide the same quality as a close up like the Hartley pics. Here are some pics that Hubble has taken of comets in the past.

I don't think you understand, you just don't get clear cut photo's of a comet, the exception being the 5 close encounters made by deep impact/EPOXI and maybe a small handful of other specific missions. It is the only way photo's like this will come about. You won't see any other clear cut pictures of any other comets in the past or present because unless you are up real close to one it's impossible to get. You can't just decide there is a probe up there and send it where you like, these things have missions and to change a trajectory would likely mean that they can not return to their target for a very long time, it takes years of planning to decide what targets are viable.
Plus there is no special reason to go to Elenin anyway.

we dont just swallow some bull .

I'm fairly sure on this site a large proportion of people swallow a lot of bull, this whole Elenin nonsense proves that as every second passes.

and dont stand up for liars ; you dont know whos listening

I agree, don't stand up for liars or be fooled by them either, there are many around. Time will only show the truth.
Finally, I don't care who is listening. Mainly because I don't know why that is even relevant.
